It’s the same this side, my mates tearing his hair out, he’s still got 700 acres of wheat to cut

I hope so, If this keeps up I’m going to part ex my pheasants for ducks ?
-
I like them all, but that deer is stunning ?

My turn to do the birds today, I thought it was wet last time I was up but I’d of been better off in a boat, considering how wet they are they don’t look bad at all, there’s birds all over but not to far from the pens and they know where they live, after feeding I did a few jobs in the barn and put some fuel in the quad because it seems to evaporate ( whenever Hugo’s dad has been up, funny that ) on the way out I checked the pen closest to the farm and it seemed the majority of birds had made their way back and were getting up on roost, so all good so far, I’d just like to see a bit of sun to

I was born crazy ? -
I’ve never been a fan of clays, mainly because my shotgun shooting frustrates me and when I’m paying for it I get annoyed when I miss, I’ve done simulated game once and I really liked that ( although expensive) no left to right and no single targets, it’s definitely the closest thing to driven game, most drives they had 6 standing guns and they make you wait, you then got a couple of clays overhead so you think you know where they are coming from then the flush starts and they come from everywhere, we did a partridge drive and to do it right you would of needed a loader and to double gun ?

Funnily enough the Quorn factory is next to the fields where the geese spend their days ?
-
I went past some fields that I’ve tried to get permission on many times before and there was easily 2000 birds on it, a mix of Canada and lag, the reason I can’t shoot on there is it’s at the back of an RSPB site at the mouth of the river tees, it baffles me that foxes are controlled on there but not the geese, the site is big but not big enough to support flying cows in them numbers, they must see the effect they have on the other fowl, I have to hand it to the RSPB, the site is amazing and the amount of different birds in one area is great but it’s definitely not big enough to support that a

I almost bought one but tried it on the scopes and it would work on the cheap ones on the rimmy’s but when I tried it on the .243 it was foggy and distorted apparently due to the coating on the glass, I’ve tried other ad-ons no none of them work on the vortex scope
-
Without doubt they are my favourite thing to shoot with a shotgun, maybe because they are big and I can hit one or two
-
What it comes down to is I didn’t want to change the scope on the .243, I wanted another rifle for foxing, but the work situation has changed that now
-
I still haven’t got it, I’m trying to build up the courage to part with my money ?
-
I could probably just about afford a push bike, this working for yourself is ok but it’s definitely changed my lifestyle, not so much for my Mrs, it was our 10th wedding anniversary on Saturday and it would appear that my flowers were not enough because she went to Audi and ordered herself a new car ?
-
Not sure yet, but it makes a space for an impulse buy
-
I’ll use anything on them if they are close enough, but if I’m out looking for them I always used 40g #3 mini magnum in the hatstand semi, that was until I sold it yesterday
-
That’s a cracking picture ?
-
All about fit, not so much about make, I shoot a browning 525 30” barrels and it fits me well ( I’m still rubbish with a shotgun though) go to a good gun shop and try everything, you will be spoiled for choice with 4 grand

I hope so, the start of last season was a wash out, it rained for most of November, I remember the first day we did 6 drives in the pouring rain and shot 12 birds, it came good in December and January with some respectable 50/60 bird days, I’d happily not shoot all season until there’s snow on the ground then I’ll shoot every drive because to me pheasant shooting is at its best in the snow ?
-
I know, it doesn’t look any better for next week, I think we’ve had summer
-
You lot are orrible to me ?
-
We fully understand that it’s a farmed for timber and it works well for us because they never clear fell, they take out rows which open up the forestry blocks creating new drives, they always do it in the summer so come November everything has settled down nicely, this is the first time they haven’t shown us the cut plan, so I’ll have to have a word to see what else is coming out and if it will change any of the drives they have definitely stirred the deer up, I’ve never seen that many in that area, I seen 6 roe and 9 fallow including a very nice large fallow buck i also managed to s

Well the birds look a lot more settled this evening, what a difference a day makes, I had a walk over the far side to have a look for a ginger as in the coming weeks this is where the birds will be heading, no sign of a fox but forestry have been in and removed a lot of timber, now I’m not saying this is a bad thing but it would of been nice to be told as this may change the drive, but we’ll see
