  1. That’s a task I keep putting off, not much gorse but some thick patches of small trees and bushes and I need to cut a few rides through a couple of plantation blocks because you can’t get through with all the dead lower branches, I can’t wait
  2. A few years ago I bought a job lot of .22 and .17 ammo off a copper that had sold his rifles, the .17 was hornady and Remington, I checked all of it and out of 250 rounds in the Remington at least 180 had split necks, I’m glad what I gave him for it all wouldn’t of bought me the .22 ammo
  3. This thread has entertained me no end over the last couple of days ? just remember the only opinion that matters is your own, even if others put a better point across I’ll still do whatever the f*ck I want to, the majority of us on here have been doing this long enough to know what we are doing, at least in our own heads anyway ?
  4. Looks like a couple of hours of fun there ?
  5. More chance of getting money out of them than the shoot members ?
  6. Well I got a bit done, few repair posts and some holes in the bottom of the fence netting repaired before the fly’s got to much for me and I was thinking of my roast beef dinner, still plenty to do and only so much I can bodge so at some point the shoot members will have to put their hands in their pockets for some new posts and wire?
  7. Back up this morning for pen repairs, thought I’d come early before the ? got out, seems they beat me here
  8. Back to the shoot tonight and what was looking like a promising evening quickly turned into a waste of time, we gathered up a couple of hoppers for the traps from around the farm and after setting them we headed over the far side of the shoot for a call. A two mile walk taking the long way round to see what was about and fog started to come in, within 20 minutes you couldn’t see 20 meters in front of you so we had to call it a night, at least I got to stretch my legs
  9. You may mock, but the don’t call me stav yard stride for nothing ? ( maybe should of said 154 paces ? )
  10. Yep, very still, ideal conditions for the fat air rifle ?
  11. I’ve had one side on that ran never to be seen again, I put it down to bad shot placement, I must of been to far back I only ever use .17gn in mine now, if it’s for fox or rabbits, they get the same treatment, I’ve came for a walk around the sheep farm now and brought it with me, just took this chap at 154 yards, he didn’t know I was there or what hit him ?
  12. Dusty bin I call it, it’s full of sweet and chocolate bar rappers, he hides them in there because his lass won’t let him have them at his time in life ? a moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips ?
  13. Looks like I’m going to have to try and sell my little Tiguan ?
  14. Yeah, it’s got full dealer history, it’s done about 50,000 miles, it’s still got a years warranty on it, it’s got a few little marks on it, but it’s been used as a work truck, there’s a little bit of damage to the o/s front bumper where he hit a deer, but I know a good body lad, I’ve been looking at them and I can’t find one for less than £17,500 and that was high mileage
  15. A little one to help the big one blow harder, ( Oow errr missus ) reducing lag, I’ve driven this a lot and it doesn’t half shift for a big heavy truck, mind you, so does the fuel gauge when you put your foot down
  16. Nowt to do with shooting but, Have any of you lot had any experience with these, I’ve been offered this it’s on a 66 plate, automatic 2.5 bi turbo, I can have it for £12,000 + VAT, looking at them it’s well below book price, just wondering if there’s any common problems to look out for with them
  17. Everybody loves the 45 but it takes someone special to wave the long stick around ive never known another calibre that divides opinion like the .17 hmr i love them, they are a cracking bit of fun ?
  18. ????????????? welcome to the world of marmite rifles, them mice ? will be quaking in their little boots with a top marksman like you on the loose with a precision weapon ?
  19. ???? go for it Bernard sausage, they are a bit of fun, I’ve had mine out tonight picking off hoppers on a big back garden, all between 100/150 yards, missed a few but you can’t get anywhere near them so it’s the ideal tool for the job ?
  20. A fine looking beast and two lovely looking stick tops sat on its bonce ?
  21. we have a local butcher and every now and then you can get wood pigeon and sometimes rabbit, the problem is now they are not ment to buy direct from the shooter so he told me that financially it’s not worth buying from a game dealer because people won’t pay 4 quid for a pigeon I was asked to supply all sorts for a dog food factory, not that long ago, deer, rabbit, hare, geese, we had came up with prices and it was looking like a good little earner for me, then the people behind the legislation on running the factory moved the goal posts and wanted to see traceability ( for f*cking dog
  22. I’ve got that problem with everything I shoot, game has definitely fallen out of fashion and is only something most people eat in restaurants now, people used to ring me to ask what I could get hold of, every now and then someone will ask for a couple of rabbits or a pheasant in winter now, my shooting now is 90% pest control
  23. That’s a cracking evening out, there seems to be quite a few about at the minute ?
  24. When they are in season we can take them from the fields, but not in the forestry, I haven’t shot them up here for a long time, but we were discussing it last night as we now have someone to butcher it properly for us saving us time, so if we shoot on an evening we can drop it off to go in the chilller on the way home and he will deal with it the following day, taking his share of course, we have a very good head of fallow up here and more recently the roe are becoming more abundant the fallow buck season is August 1st til April 30th, fallow doe is November 1st to March 31st ?
