Well it begins start using up your lead

After watching this, I’ve looked a bit more into it and they are not as badly priced as I was told, just a couple of quid more that the Sako I use in the .243, at the minute the problem seems to be choice and availability, but I’m sure more will come to market and in the not to distant future none lead will be the norm, if it works, it works so my view is changing towards rifle ammo, I’m still not sure what will happen with shotgun cartridges -

This has just popped up on the Tube, -
Where the buck was the .223 was more than capable, but rules is rules ? now we are getting the lighter nights the .223 will get fewer outings, replaced with the .243, a tool for every occasion ?

No mate, they are the rattling chop sticks my mate uses, they have led to no end of misses or spooking animals when he clatters them when moving, no matter how hard I try I can’t get him to use anything else, one day I think they may be involved in an accident, possibly ran over ?

I used a Icotec gc500 for a long time, it worked really well, just got shot of all the crap calls and put what I wanted on the sd, my mate had the foxpro and to be honest I couldn’t tell the difference between them, I’ve now got an Icotec “ sabre” and it’s on another level to the gc and foxpro, you can adjust the sound as the call is playing giving more realism and you can play 2 calls back to back which works really well when they are mating, only down side is it’s quite big, they all work some nights but not others, I’ve had nights where they showed no interest in the digi caller but came r

At the shoot tonight to see if we could shoot a few more rabbits around the farm, we managed 6 in about an hour so I’m guessing there’s not quite as many as I’d been led to believe. After a bit of bunny bashing we went for a walk to see what was about, I took the .223 with me, with the intention of having a call, I wish I’d taken the .243 almost as soon as we set off we came across a roe buck and then another, 5 minutes later, getting to the bottom of the farm there was 5 fallow slowly making their way up the field away from us. By now we had lost the light and set ourselves up 85 ish yards aw

I may of misread your post and for that I apologise the problem I see is that when the likes of the game dealers association back down and accept a lead ban with no clear evidence it will only lead to a complete ban no matter what the you are shooting, at the minute there’s very few alternatives out there and what is, is very expensive. As for shotguns there’s next to nothing that works as good as lead, the only one I can think of is Bismuth and the are about 30 quid a box -

Once again you have missed the point All deer that are part of a management plan go into the food chain, over the years the price has dropped significantly and the lads that are out doing this job are the only ones that suffer, now they are looking at a lead ban with no evidence of contaminated carcasses ( they say that the round leaves lead deposits in the carcass) the lad I know who does this job hasn’t got a problem with using lead free but they need to be as good as lead and as cost effective as he loads his own, otherwise it’s going to end up costing him to do part of his job, at th -

Doesn’t quite work like that, it’s ok if you are taking them for yourself, but it’s just another kick in the teeth for the lads who carry out deer management, it’s only the start for animals that a put into the food chain, it’s the usual, jumping in with both feet without looking at all the evidence, I don’t have a problem with not using lead as long as there’s a viable alternative On another note I’ve just read a report on hunting with dogs in Ireland and if they pass that law them poor Irish chaps won’t even be able to run a rabbit, I don’t understand this world anymore, it’s just full -
Been a lovely day to be outside, even better out on the moors ? I’ve been working down by the river Tees and the weather was glorious, only downside was the flies ? even the jungle juice didn’t stop them chewing the sh*t out of me

Now that’s a top bloke ????

Worth feeling a bit sh*t, for a day or two, I’m just waiting for them to get round to doing us youngsters ?

Walked my Sunday dinner off around the shoot, was asked to shoot the rabbits around the farm so took the .17 for my mate to use, after half a dozen we headed over the far side for a call. No foxes so we headed back towards the farm, as we got into the bottom field there was a very nice roe buck no more than 40 yards from us, so I’ll maybe have a go at him in the coming weeks, I did take a 150 yard rabbit with the.223, the fox can spend a bit of time picking them bits up ( what a mess ) not the most eventful of evenings but still a nice walk out ?

I appreciate we all have choices in life and have known lads that had a good upbringing and have made very bad choices, ending up on the smack, the streets, prison or dead, these people were all capable of making decisions for themselves but when you throw mental health, abuse and a dysfunctional upbringing into the mix some of these people are not capable of seeking the help that is out there and sadly some of them fall through the net and become lost and overlooked to society, them two nobheads from the council must know the department that can offer the help and instead of trying to get him

Seeing as I’m at the bottom of the pecking order in this house when I get the opportunity to shout down an idiot it feels like a little victory to me, it’s a good job the missus wasn’t with me, she would of ripped them a new one, 5’ 1” of pure aggression

And I moaned today when the sun went in and I had to put my jumper back on ?
-
A bit different, but the words “enforcement officers” set me off last Saturday I went into the village and into the co-op, now there’s a homeless lad that sits outside, he’s a nice enough lad, doesn’t bother anyone, clearly has some mental health issues and is down on his luck. I often buy him and his dog something to eat or drop him a couple of quid, as I was in the shop I seen the so called “ council enforcement office’s” walking over to him and as I left the shop they were asking for his name, I stopped and told him not to tell him his name and don’t talk to them, they have no powers w
