    Can’t wait, not looking forward to all the work pre season, but we only got 3 and a half days this season, still that was better than some who cancelled the whole season

    ? these were the pellets I used to buy when I was a kid, every Saturday I’d take my pocket money, go into town, buy a box of these and a packet of devil bangers to chuck at people on the way home ?

    Jesus, is that how much pellets are now ? I used to buy them in a red box of 200 when I was a kid and I think they were about 50p, I will of been about 14. There was a shop in the town that sold toys, models and air rifles and they would sell us pellets, unlike the miserable bugger in the gun shop. The last time I bought a tin they were about 3 quid

    So I went to the village bakery, got myself a flapjack, came home, made myself a cup of tea and sat down for a read, cracking write up, it was like I was there. Nice way to spend a few minutes on a Saturday afternoon ??

    I had loads when I was a kid, we used to do loads of rat shooting and pigeons in sheds, perfect for that. If you paid 100 quid for one you were the king of the ratters, now, even a half decent springer is the price of a nice CZ .22lr and I could buy a car for the price of a PCP

    I’ve nothing against puff guns,( I’ve had quite a few, all springers, I’m not made of money) apart from the fact I can buy half a dozen rimfires for the price of one PCP, on the other hand people who wang on about them as if they are amazing do my head in, my .243 will make it deader and in a more spectacular fashion than anything with a bit of wind behind it ?

    Shooting times used to be a really good read, my mate would buy that and I would get rifle shooter or sporting rifle and we would swap when we were done with them, as more things came online like shootinguk less people bought the magazines and they all became really ad heavy, so I stopped buying them, now I take my phone to the bog with me

    Good to see you back ? it’s not been the weather for for site work ? I’ve spent all week laying Indian stone paving, concrete and type one before the tarmacers turn up, really looking forward to my 2 days off ?

    As soon as we can move about again, you can come down here anytime for a go at the foxes at my mates farms, there’s still a few knocking about

    Well I got to the sheep farm ( only just ) they have had more snow there today and with the wind it had drifted, in some places it was 18” deep. Parking up in the yard we made our way on foot to the top of the farm, it was hard going walking through the drifting snow, not seeing anything for the next hour apart from a few hares and a couple of roe we headed back towards the farm, setting the caller out in the field it wasn’t long before we picked a fox up in the thermal, the only problem was it was at the back of the pig units on next doors farm, putting the caller on full volume it showed an

    Nowt to do with this but I thought I’d put it up anyway as far as I know rabbits are not known for their facial expressions, but the missus has decided to put the old white one in what I could only describe as a rabbit babygrow, every time I see it it looks at me as if to say “ what has she done to me” it looks truly miserable, I have to keep giving it banana chips to try and cheer it up ???

    That’s quite expensive for the tikka, when I was looking for a new .243 the x-bolt was more than the tikka, one thing that’s very nice on the x-bolt is the standard synthetic stock, it’s got a soft feel to it, almost like a PU coating

    I can’t hear anything and just to be on the safe side to make sure Ben wasn’t mugging me off ( you all know what he’s like ) I went on YouTube to try a few more, still can’t hear owt, I must be getting old ?

    A mate of mine has one in .243 laminate stock and it’s a lovely rifle to shoot, when I bought my last .243 I was going to buy an x-bolt, but two things put me off, first was it had a 4 shot mag that didn’t seem to fit well and for some reason you could only put 3 rounds in it and secondly the weight, it was noticeably heavier that the tikka t3x ( and 200 quid more )

    Back up at the sheep farm to bait up again before tonight’s outing and it’s still absolutely freezing ? I’ll give it a couple of hour’s or as long as my fingers and toes can take the cold, I think I’ll take a cage trap up to go behind the lambing sheds so they can check it each day, there’s more prints but this time they are coming along the gutter as before but then it hops the gutter and makes it’s way to next doors pig units, fingers crossed it’s about when I’m there later as it definitely won’t be an all nighter in this weather
