A phone call earlier today from my mate Mosh at the sheep farm, he said there was a fox crossing the field at the rear of the farm, so not having any work on because of the snow I said I’d have a run up to find out where it was coming from. When I got there I bumped into the owner elbow deep in a ewe, he pointed to where it was seen and said “get the bugger, there’ll be lambs out next week and if you see any deer while you are down there I’ll have one of them too” I set off in the snow, the temperature gauge said -3 but it felt a lot colder than that. When I got to the top field I found a set

I was thinking this the other day, hope he’s doing ok 42 by the way, but feel more like 62 ?

That’s the problem, it’s all guidelines, no force sings from the same song sheet it’s a pointless exercise because by law when applying or renewing you have to inform them of any medical issues or criminal convictions ( even speeding) failure to do this and getting found out will get you in a lot of sh*t, if they don’t carry out the correct checks with the information you have provided ( to make sure it matches) they should be held accountable, not to pass the blame on I don’t mind paying for a service as long as the service I’m paying for is of benefit to me and everyone is trea

At the minute our firearms are not asking for it ( but it will be coming) I don’t see the point in it, you have had to give consent to access your medical records for a long time now, it’s just an extent to the blame culture, Mr plod grants an FAC, Mr shooter has an episode and goes all Derick Bird, Mr Doctor gets the blame for ticking a few boxes

I’m the same, never really have time during the day, so I normally escape life’s madness on an evening, with a bit of luck I’ll be up to the shoot tonight for a couple of hours ? -

?, it must of been nice just to get out, the weather has been shocking, working outside in it all day I have no enthusiasm to go back out in it on an evening -

Everything looks bigger in little hands ? I had to put a neoprene stock sock on the cz to bulk it out a bit and the browning could do with one -

To be honest, I like the cz and the browning ( I have one of each in .17 ) but if I was to replace ether or both of them it would be with the tikka, they are a rimfire that feels like a centrefire -
You just want to chop it up for fire wood ? only kidding, that looks spot on, I like a lighter coloured wood, you can see the grain stands out more, I had a lovely lanber that had a really light finish, looked a lot nicer than my 525 ?

Oi, I’ll have you know that North Yorkshire has the lowest violent crime rate in the country, sadly where I live next to North Yorkshire has highest ?

I would say the general section was just full of colourful characters ( bit like the bar in star wars ) if I want to read people’s opinions on pointless sh*t I don’t care about I’ll start a family WhatsApp group ?

That’s a quality day out and a perfect way to end the game season ?

Great write up, I’m definitely most jealous about the handgun, I would of loved to have had the opportunity to shoot one, I think I was about 18 when they banned them

Yeah, unless he has some crazy neck of hare recipe planned, I think he’ll be ok ?

The mag is the best feature of the browning, they are a figure of 8, 10 shot, they are flush fitting and having the spare is a bonus, letting you carry 20 rounds on the rifle, I have 5 shot and 10 shot for the cz, but for me the 10 shot sticks to far out of the stock, so I carry 2, 5 shots -

I’ve go a cz .22 and a browning T bolt and cz in .17hmr, although the browning is a bit of posh and the synthetic stock is a better shape with a nice little feature of a spare 10 shot mag that fits in the back of the stock I wouldn’t say it shoots any better than the cz, if anything I find the trigger better on the cz -
The .223 was the weapon of choice for the walk around the new spot, when I got there it was like daylight with the moon so didn’t hold out much hope for a fox, I did see one but it was towards the front of the farm and the backstop was a house ?. I had a good walk around checking the lay of the land for a couple of hours, having a call in a few places but not seeing a fox, I did see 7 roe and he is keen for me to supply him with venison. When I was leaving the lad came out to see me, he said I can come whenever I want and next time I’m out could I get him a hare, I said “I’ll get you one now,

I’ve just got here now and the bloke was asking about the deer and can I butcher them properly, I said I can, in a fashion but I know someone who is a lot better than me ?

This is madness, it would take years and years to sterilise a population that large, at an astronomical cost, not to mention the adverse effects it may have on other animals that predate on them and no one has mentioned that the gray can carry the Parapox virus and it’s this that kills the reds, so instead of trying to create a sterile animal that will in god know how many years breed itself out of existence why not put all that money into trapping, shooting and any out humane dispatch they can think of, bloody hell, I shoot them for free, along with many others, that Goldsmith is a complete

No, didn’t see a thing, it was very still with a really bright moon, bit more cloud tonight so hopefully I’ll at least see something have you been elbow deep in ewes all day again

Tonight’s outing will be to a new spot, a 650 acre farm, with a small wood and a boundary on the river tees, now I’m looking forward to a walk around a new spot on my own, not only for the foxes but also to check the deer population as I can take them from this spot, I now need to make the decision of going with the night vision and the .223 or go old school with the lamp and the .243 ?

Sorry for your loss mate, I bet you had some cracking times with a bloke who at 89 was still taking rabbits from his armchair ?

Well it looks like Bojo’s ride had got her way with the control of badgers, all badger control to be stopped/fazed out by 2022, now this doesn’t affect us up here as we are not in a cull area, but what really annoys me is their use of language and figures, to say that shooting is not an acceptable control method and that the animals can suffer is a stupid thing to print as this is the thing that badger botherers pick up on, I was watching something last night and in heavily populated areas some plank was saying they should be trapped and relocated ( spreading the problem) or if there’s no oth
