I’ve just got in the car to take a few for baiting up, I’d say it was fragrant with a hint of death ?

Cracking write up si, I hope others are suitably jealous of the fine topography of stunning North Yorkshire ?

She’s just went mad ? she wanted some disposable gloves for cleaning her rabbits out and thought they were in my car, ( I took them out last night and put them in the garage) she went and opened the boot and was greeted by a pile of one of her favourite fluffy tw*ts ?

There’s certainly a good few kicking around this place, it’s a shame I didn’t get it 6 months ago before all the young came along, I’d much rather shoot adult rabbits, half of what I shot tonight was a few weeks about ground, but it’s pest control and a hour out over the summer when all the crops are to high on a lot of my other land ?

Another go at the egg units/cricket pitch/ stables for the rabbits, bumped into the owner when I got there and he said go wherever you want, which was nice of him, I got the rifle out the back and realised I’d left my sticks up at the shoot last night ( bugger ) so free hand it would have to be, now I can’t remember the last time I shot without sticks and it showed. I still accounted for 19 in a little over an hour, missing a good half dozen, this place is a ferreting lads dream, every hedge back is just one big set, with access to both sides, when I was leaving I bumped into another lad who a

A run up to the shoot to top my 2 feeders up I’ve still got on the go, I had a walk over the piggeries drives where I was greeted by a dozen kids running around in the woods, from the campsite a couple of field over, now not wanting to terrify them ( big old bloke with a rifle over his shoulder) I softly gathered them up and explain to them that they couldn’t be in the woods and needed to go back to the playing fields around the site, the place is like a wildlife desert now the site is back open , so back up to the farm for some .223 rabbit busting, I found what was left of one of last year’

Spot on that, I did it the same way, no one else in my family shoots, I started on my own, learned from my mistakes and from people I met along the way and now I think I’m pretty good at what I do and I’d still have no problem crawling to get at what I wanted to shoot ?

I shot it all Dave ?

I’ll box some up and send them down in exchange for a few gingers ?

So I had a hour or so around the new bit, my god there’s some rabbits about, I only went around the house and the back of one of the egg units managed 21 for 22 shots, to be honest there was no testing shots, the one I missed was because it was to close, I haven’t even put a dent in them, should keep me going over the coming weeks, nice to have somewhere new to have a walk around for an hour on an evening ?

Advice on binoculars for children.
Stavross replied to Diggerman Dan's topic in Wildlife and General Photography
They do make bino’s for kids but they are not up to much, you want to be looking at some things between x4 and x8 mag because higher than that and he might struggle to keep it in focus, the cheaper end ( but still good quality) is Celestron ( they do them in curry’s ) something like 8x32 at the other end, vortex diamondback 8x32, lifetime warranty, multi coated lenses, really good in low light, will last forever, you’ll just need to check whatever you get fits his face at the minute -
You must be putting a proper dent in them now ?

Hares always come in to hare distress, some of them will run right up to the caller

When I started out as a kid it was just rat shooting with an old spring air rifle but quickly moved on to stalking rabbits, having to get so close to kill them I could almost kick them, ( failing many times) when I got one the buzz was amazing, been able to take it home for the old man to do a rabbit stew was almost as good as the hunt, getting older and moving on to bigger things with better equipment I still take with me the things I learned crawling around in fields after rabbits

Had a walk around the shoot, headed over the far side towards the camp site ( Holly Bower ), not an animal to be seen, you can tell the site is back open, loads of feral people wandering around with their wild dogs, had one couple asking me what I was doing in an abrupt manner, after explaining to them that they are in the countryside and on a part of it they shouldn’t be on they scurried back to their tin box, giving it up as a bad job I headed back towards the farm for some .223 rabbit pest control, I had a half hearted call and to my surprise I had a badger run out of the wood straight at t

For me, a bit of water ( stream, river, little splash, I’m not fussy) small wood/spiny with some thick hedge backs running to it ( animal highway) and a big chunk of ruff set aside, preferably with some bank side and some gorse bushes on it, if anyone knows where there’s such a place, let me know and I’ll come and have a look at it for you ?
