    Even 160 at night is a good shot, more than confident I have never taken a fox at 330 yards at night, very seldom more than 200 anytime!

    I can't believe there isn't some sort of statute of limitations. If someone has a problem why does it take YEARS for them to do something, if I get burgled, I call the police, I don't think about if for 5-10-15 etc etc years and then report it! The financial resources needed to bring/build a case stemming back YEARS is colossal in comparison with a fresh case, and chances of any conviction reduced.

    Few years back I had a rabbit, cleaned, head and boots removed, skinned and ready for the pot, start kicking in the bag. I was out with my lad and leaning over the field gate talking to a local when we heard the bag twitching, weird, but very pleased I had witnesses! Anyone who knows anything about death sadly knows movement can commonly occur well after Brain death, but not often quite so far as my experience with the rabbit.

    I wish I knew more, but what I do know is there are numerous ponds/lakes/etc on land I shoot and I have bumped into Hi Viz wearing and clipboard carrying Officials checking for Newts on several occasions. Building works anywhere near Newts have to be screened with Newt Barriers round here. Is this all of them or just the Gt Crested, perhaps someone will be along soon to enlighten us more!

    Do I take it this is specifically for AIR? I don't recognize the mod but at £3, even if it needs painting, it seems pretty good. Does it work ok?

    Where do you get/invent this rubbish from? 100% of people who call Pest Controllers want a problem solved. If a farmer wants all his Pests removed and you are a Sport Shooter, you will not keep the job/permission long if he finds out you decide to leave a few to balance nature. Shooting fox in the context of this thread is PEST CONTROL, if you want to start talking about tree huggers start another thread somewhere else!

    Shooting fox to protect poults is Pest Control, "I think you have to balance Pest Control with conservation" your words. We are not talking Sport shooting, we are talking Pest Control, however rewarding/satisfying it may be! Pest Control is about solving problems, not promoting a balance in the rat etc population.

Pest Control in anything close to the commercial sector, can ALWAYS be traced back to money!     I think something has got lost in translation, I never said or suggested fox work couldn't be challenging and rewarding! This particular work is Pest Control and the Land Owner would be more than happy for every fox to be gone, I took your comments as hoping they wouldn't all be gone!

    The scope can be returned to Leupold who will do pretty much whatever you want with it, it doesn't have to be New Build. Be prepared for a pretty serious bill and probably 3 month wait! One of mine went back for reticle and turret change! There may be someone who can do the work more locally, good luck!

    We seemed to go through a period, about 10 years ago, when Squirrel was the Flavour of the month, and my Game Dealer took as many as I could harvest for the restaurant trade. Not much demand today round these parts!

    That's good numbers on that size of land in that period, but I suspect they will just keep coming, so constant vigilance required! I have a Free Range Chicken, Geese and Duck farm of 135 acres, and take around 14 foxes a year from it, it just goes on!
