pigeon meets 55 gr soft point from 223 messy !
Deker replied to jamie g's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Can't help thinking you have put a few too many feathers in the stew!!! -
There is not a simple answer here......the Weirauch range is excellent VFM but they are all heavy...typical German overengineering...if you are easy with carrying around a heavy gun then fine and yes, probably offer some of the best VFM you can get...but there are plenty of good guns, cheaper and lighter....what is the best is down to the individuals requirements and budget!

Power for power they are the same...as accurate...not a chance!

Fair comment... but anyone with even a small amount of experience knows domed perform best overall by a mile....good to have a little detail... BUT you forgot to mention this was lifted straight out of the latest edition of the BASC magazine!!!

They look a really nice mod. Im going to search them on a few sites and look for feedback. At the moment im swaying with the jet z. It looks good and works great. Its not brilliant for balance as its heavy and goes on the end as opposed to down the barrel, but i will be using a bipod so that should help. I might have this all a**e about face, but I thought the A-Tec hung off the end of the barrel too!!! Never seen or used one so someone else will no doubt straighten this out!

FAC for target shooting & vermin control??
Deker replied to HermanE's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
If you have a gun for Vermin work and NOT target work, then the likelyhood is you will have to zero on one of your permissions and not down a range. If you only have the rifle for vermin work and you have not listed Zeroing and (in the unlikely event you are caught by the police) you have commited a firearms offence. It might sound daft ... many of the firearms laws are...but it is still not a good idea to go round breaking them!!! In simple terms ZEROING shoud be on EVERY FAC for every gun they hold ..WHATEVER it's use! (excepting perhaps one or two specific slaughtering tools). -
FAC for target shooting & vermin control??
Deker replied to HermanE's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
You CANNOT Target shoot if you have the gun for Vermin control...and you CANNOT vermin control if you have the gun for target use. It does not matter how experienced you are at anything...you cannot do it until your FAC says you can! (and don't forget to add Zeroing for ALL guns as well!!!) Any doubt just talk to your FEO! -
Could be several things... Talk to...... the dealer you bought it from! Talk to..... http://falconowners.myfastforum.org/ Talk to... http://www.falcon-airguns.co.uk/frameset.htm

I've had 2 of the Falcon mods on my FN19. There is a joint just in front of the cone shaped area where the screws are, and this can easily split with any sort of knock, it's very hard to see at times as its covered with paint but if you gently try and move the mod whilst it is in the gun you can sometimes feel a tiny bit of movement...if this is the case the mod is scrap!!!! In addition, the 2 grub screws only thread into the alloy of the mod, overtightening these, especially the one at the back, can easily lead to stripping or spreading the thread and therefore cause big problems.

Trip out for anything and everything
Deker replied to Mr_Logic's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Good write up, but I don't remember signing the release so you could publish a picture of my hand...I'll see you for my appearance fee later!! .... that last pigeon...I forgot about him..the one that took off from the very tall grass just about 6 feet from me... whos head went one way, wing went another and body pebbledashed the rest of the field...12g No5 at 6 feet is quite effective, the old boy can still swing and shoot quick!!! Overkill I suspect..should have waited until he had flown off 40-50 feet!! -
NO..I'm too busy shooting things generally, but it's cold wet and windy here today and Mummy won't let me go out to play tonight!

I Eat Everything I Shoot. I Shoot Purely For Food, For Either Myself, My Family, My Animals Or A Combination Of The Three. [ 9 ] [36.00%] I Don't believe it, this is simply people pandering to the tree huggers again, I can't see this section winning if people are honest!!!
-
In principle it is.....Except there is no need to SHOUT and it's TXT talk..or a product of the modern education system!

Trip out for anything and everything
Deker replied to Mr_Logic's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I suspect you got the reaction you intended...I suggest you go forth and hug a tree, then join the line dancing club! -
The Lightning is an excellent springer and consistant, either the gun needs servicing or you do! Springers, PCP's, etc all have different actions but are ALL consistant within margins (except a few Chinese guns)

I seem to have a reputation for telling it straight... It's SMK...It's Co2.....It's a TOY! If you want to play in the back garden then it will be fun for a few days!

The Deer Act Amendment in England & Wales last year saw changes to this as well. Put simply you can now shoot a deer from your vehicle but it must be stationary! (the vehicle..not the deer, but it would help if both were stationary) Seeing as not too many ferrets get to sample deer I don't suspect you have a problem!!

What do you all prefer to shoot?
Deker replied to SportingShooter's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Bit of fun and why not...but people will simply vote what they have..or what they dream of having!!! Interesting to see Mr Beretta leaping into 1st and 2nd place!! -
Lovely shot - even if I say so myself!
Deker replied to Snelly's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
You may be lucky and find some very old stock somewhere but they were discontinued nearly 2 years ago.......anyway I have an open mind and a, AS NEW, 6.5-26x52 Sidewinder, box, instructions etc, lists at over £300, just send me £200 and your address and it's yours! What's the problem.. this is a deal.....just in case you think I jest...oh yes and that's a Tikka T3 .223 Lite in the picture so you know what it looks like on the rifle! http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...st&id=21321 So where is your money?? -
The jet z is great ... are you seriously saying you have tried it and it didn't "quieten the round" dramatically!!! Talk to http://www.jacksonrifles.com/ and find out what you are doing wrong! The link is for Maxi-mag + V, you stated Maxi Mag in your first post!

Crosshairs can be etched into the glass, this will (should) prevent any chance of crosshairs breaking!! No idea how yours were made but it is certainly unusual for them to break!! According to JSR their scopes (the 4-16x44 Mil dot target scope I have anyway) are rated for everything from Springer to centrefire, mine is on my .223 at the moment, optically and value for money I rate it highly so far but it is early days yet!

Additional points....the gel can be placed in an oven to dry it out, this will extend it's useable life. Be careful not to overdo the silica gel if your rifle has a wooden stock, it can dry the wood too much as well and split the stock!!!!!!
