  1. http://www.tfsa.co.uk/ Worth a try, Andy has all sorts of magazines!
  2. Been out a lot recently and got I right ticking off, "You're in trouble" she says, "you better take me out somewhere expensive"! So I took her up the Petrol Station!!
  3. Spent cartridges have a spent percussion cap! Snap caps have a spring in the percussion cap area to take the strain from the firing pin! No need for a snap cap in a semi, when you have finished with the gun hold the cocking bolt about an inch open and pull the trigger, this will release the firing pin whilst minimising the dry firing pressure...easy!!! MAKE SURE THE CHAMBER IS EMPTY FIRST, just in case something silly happens!!!
  4. WHY????? What is it meant to do to the barrel? And Why .223, they make plenty of calibres in steel cases, what about all the others??? Have you ever asked anyone who has used it about their barrel??? It's news to me and I use it a lot in my Tikka .223 which has very fine rifling, I have no problem. If someone knows something I don't and can tell me I'm going to get a problem I'd like to know please!!!
  5. I might have initially suggested it ... Oh, I thought that a .223 would be dropping quickly at 300 yards. Like for like a .223 will be dropping more than a 22-250 at 300 yards but a light .223 will perform very nearly the same...also ask yourself the question...are they all at 300??? If you are only concerned about the drop and are only shooting at 300 then zero at 300 on a .223 and it goes in the same place every time! Everyone has their own requirements, a 22-250 is excellent at what it does but it is costly in guns and ammo and is nowhere near as versatile as
  6. Vermin out to 300 yards and the occasional fox. The FEO also mentioned a 22-250 as an alternative. Both these are fast & flat (22-250 is f*****g noisy as well). Both are very good at what they do but this comes at a price. If you are shooting mainly at longer distances certainly consider these but if you are mainly shooting a bit shorter then..... a .223 will be easier on the pocket, much wider choice of ammo and guns, happily deal with 300 yards (I've used it at 600 on the range) AND give you much more versatility!
  7. Quick update... I decided to take a chance and invested in the JSR Target Pro 4-16x44. Ordered it on the web, got it mail order, arrived within 48 hours of placing the order, £64.95 including delivery. The scope appears reasonably well made although the "paint" markings seem cheaply done! Turret clicks seem pretty crisp on this one (at the moment)! Optically, it seems very good at the moment, I'm still waiting on my latest variation so I don't have it on a rifle yet. Obviously hope it will hold a zero but only time will tell. At the moment I would say good value for mon
  8. What is your hunting requirement?? The .204 still remains a bit of an unknown quantity, they are not easy to find and neither is the ammo, and it isn't cheap! I looked at these a lot about a year ago and decided I didn't have a place for them in my cabinet. They have a very limited area of use IMHO. If you insist, think about the Ruger, but I suggest you forget it. Just my opinion!
  9. The Home Office Guidelines state Fox, Feral Cat and other such sized quarry as being medium size. I guess Mink would also qualify. If I was you I would ask for small pest species (or vermin) to be added. Spot on for medium size and that is ALL you can shoot with it! You want Vermin & Ground game and other small quarry added...this brings in rat, hare, rabbit, grey squirrel and other small sized quarry (like MINK)! It all get a bit silly at times with various regions, I know a guy who has squirrel down on his .308 but my region (at the moment) refuses to put fox on th
  10. Hit man...the money is good and the hours are short, other than that "shooting" for a living is hard work, daft hours and poor pay....but I love it!!! Who wouldn't, 02.00 in the morning, freezing cold, up to your ankles in mud and covered in the damp from the mist..must be mad! Hey! Decker, is this you. http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=nHYC4ekzg60 LMFAO Love it If it is you decker are you here on a working visa or are you an illegal??
  11. Rimfire ammo is available from around 30ft lb to around 325ft lb with 4 different main calibres/types these days! How do you know you are getting 12ft lb with your BSA Comet? There are a couple of people who would have been very helpful to you, went by the names of Wingshooter and Guevara but I haven't seen them for a while!

  13. Scotland and now your probably going to tell me I need lessons on what to shoot Roe with. You really are the business aye. NO that's why I asked what part of the country you are in, 22-250 is more than capable of stopping Roe deer (and reds for that matter) but there are legal issues of course with certain calibres, certain deer and certain regions of the UK!!
  14. Let us know if he shouts as loud face to face as he does here!
  15. Thanks for the banter but offered good advice on AIR RIFLES that can deliver from other members No you haven't...you have just been told about higher powered air rifles that can deliver -100ft lb! I really do think you should calm down and look at the facts, how many of these people who have mentioned high power air have any experience with them? There are only a handful of Air Rifles that will deliver -100Ft lb and they are just as dangerous as a Rimmy. In addition a sub sonic rimmy will be in the order of 100ft lb and the majority of sensible EXPERIENCED shooters will
  16. No idea in your area but have you heard of... http://www.justcartridges.com/ They will deliver!
  17. sweet looking spot mate you better invest in some good walking boots lol..........a was thinking more along the lines of a quad!!!!!!!!!! Looks like a lot of open ground there so you may have to invest in that other quad..and/or a centrefire as well! Good on you..enjoy!
  18. Why do you have concerns about the 452 trigger, do YOU find it unsatisfactory or are you simply being swayed by certain opinions? I have a 452 with the original trigger and I have no complaints, but I am going to invest the few quid to try the Brooks version (If I can get one anywhere) to see if it does make the difference people claim. The 453 Trigger is DIFFERENT and I hate set triggers, so your question is more than a little difficult to answer. I'm not keen on the original trigger, and I've put enough bricks of ammo through it to get used to it. Still don't actually like it thou

  20. We may or may not ever know the real figure but £15 Million does sound incredible! (even though they have a load of my money) Lets just assume they lost £10,000 per working day (which would be incredibly difficult) that's £60K a week or £3 Million a year...so they would have to do this non stop for 5 years to rake up £15 Million!! PS As a matter of interest I have heard nothing back from the administrators yet!
  21. Rimfire magic or did you get it direct from Eric????
  22. richie Seen one or two of these photo guides before but this looks pretty helpful to me. I still don't get this trigger business, got my Silhouette (NEW) a couple of years back and the trigger is fine, as far as I'm aware it is the original and was not upgraded automatically by the dealer before I picked it up. Anyway, I have heard, and continue to hear how much Mr Brooks improves things, I recon I may just have to invest a few quid to see!
  23. Guys.... Unless there have been some changes that I am not aware of the "Police etc" have got this wrong. The common mistake is "Occupier"....... Its quite simple really..................... ------------------------------------------------------- Home Office Firearms Law Guidance to Police 2002 Exemptions from the requirement to hold a certificate Shot Guns 1968 Act Section 11(5) of the 1968 Act allows an individual, without holding a shot gun certificate, to borrow a shot gun from the occupier of private premises and use it on those premises in the occupiers pr
  24. Well...my CZ is a Silhouette in .22LR as well, but I have a SAK on the end of it and the full length barrel. Following comments based on HUNTING ammo, and do not necessarily reflect target ammo results! Eley ammo does work pretty well but it isn't cheap, I have tried loads of subs and supersonics over the years, CCI subs I found worked quite well but were tight in the breech, Winchester were ok, Federals, Remington, Lapau, Aguilla, Sellior and Bellot all presented certain problems wether it was to do with loading/cost/consistancy. Sub sonic wise I now use almost exclusively Magtech 40
