Well...the picture is a lot smaller but the record has all been set straight in the September issue of Sporting Shooter, page 26. Cheers again to everyone for their support! Deker

I used to go to a clay shoot on a dairy farm, it was on every 2 weeks for about 4 years...the vet then stepped in and said the led was a problem for the cows. The shoot moved and I was more than a little surprised to see 2 of the stands were shot over beautiful wheat fields Now ... there were probably between 100-150 people at every shoot with 7 stands and practice...so a lot more lead hitting the ground than in the case of this thread..but someting to still be mindful of!!

Commonly OVER filling! Too many people think a little extra pressure will help with power, and/or shots per charge...False! What it will tend to do is give inconsistency of shot and in some cases valve bounce!! The whole internals of PCP's are designed to work within a range, and a lot of people suffer from the same problem as you because they overfill....although many of them never notice! What gun is it??? Many Falcons hate more than 185bar!!!

Ok ..Section 14 Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981...in simple terms this says it is illegal to introduce into the wild any non native animal, to this country! The CWD is not native...now.... for some time shooters have done their best to control this little animal, but the Government, last year introduced a Season for the CWD. I am a little confused, Defra, the Forestry Commission, etc, etc are actively involved in trying to rid this country of the Non native Grey Squirrel, but introduce a Season to protect this much more recently introduced Non Native species, the CWD. I must h

Dicehorn Help me out with these 5 Deer species, I'm confused as we have at least 6 in the wild! There are suggestions of other small populations of escapees as well ...... So which 5 do the BDS promote the welfare of??? Sorry Deks slip of the finger - tis 6 not counting also the red/sika hybrids Peter

Out for a Charlie last night..............
Deker replied to martin's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Don't like the look of a dead fox or what? Something smells familiar here....... YEP..sure does.., glad you said it, I've been thinking it!!!!!!!! -
Dear Mr Newbie...theshooter Whilst I expect your intentions are good you have just arrived and have neither put up an arguement for this petition, explained why, OR filled in your personal profile. The wording of the Petition is limited. I am fairly experienced when it comes to the Badger and have a set of monsterous proportions on one of my shoots. Cave like, and the cows fall in a lot...I suspect most on this site also have an idea of the diseases SOME Badger carry. My limited understanding of the cull is simply that we will end up with less Badgers, but a similar percentage are l

When you make a report such as ...."I'm going to be shooting rabbit on Freds land tonight for the purpose of vermin control.........." the Police, (actually, usually, a civilian on the phone) will issue you with a report number. This will be something like URN275/27.7.08 The URN is..... Unique Reference Number

The .20 just hasn't taken off the way it was expected to has it ..marketed as the best of both worlds...it soon became obvious it wasn't, not as flat as the .177 and doesn't hit as hard as the .22...Hey Ho!!! it goes on and on... What I find strange in all the .177 or .22 debates is people tend to be fairly pasionate about one or the other, very rare to hear someone say ...I have BOTH!!! And argueably there is a place for both in many peoples uses!!!

Mr L, i will certainly think about it. I think i asked for 300/200 but im not sure, but they knocked me back to 100/150. Its only for foxes mind, so i cant really see me needing a great deal of amma, and the local plod will probably think the same. Back to the original thread, i thought what he was asking was excessive, but maybe not after all. The best thing he can do is ask for a maximum number and let the old bill juggle the numbers. cheers trappa Trappa Mine on the .223 is the same as Mr L, actually it's true to say his is the same as mine now, long story, but he waved my

if you hit it in the right spot with any calibre it will go down but i think you would be better with .177 less pellet drop so easyer to use. I'm impressed.... the phrase most commonly used is "the .177 is more accurate than a .22". This of course is not necessarily correct over a given distance. You are absolutely correct in that (assuming the same power for each) the .177 is flatter in flight! This .177/.22 business will probably go on long after we are all dust, both have the power to stop bunnies but you tend to have to be more accurate with the .177, simple really, it

I always make a point of informing the police whenever I am shooting an area I may be seen by Joe Public. This does not mean all shoots by any means. It's not as bad as you think and the Police know me well, a URN can last 3 months...so make sure you tell them you will be shooting the site for 3 months, saves calling them every time you go...at the end of the 3 months just call them again and renew it for 3 months. Also remember ONE URN can cover ALL your sites, so tell them everywhere you shoot...easy really.....when you renew they will still have all your details on file so it's

Martin and sean im not saying the claims are right or wrong, and yes who shoots at 100yds not me. Im only passing on what was on site about jsbs heavy. There are lots of questions to be asked ,and the answers are on that forum, obvious really. But im not having deker swear and abuse me on forum without getting it back ?all the best . AL Big Al It seems that others understood what I was getting at...if you are not aware, CAPS LOCK is deemed shouting, and your attitude was derisory! Hence my response...if you didn't understand where I was coming from then hopefully you do now

Come on Wilf...that is a very narrow view of a very small minority! (although I do accept it does unfortunately happen). I am a shooter....end of... but I do not stand around with a Purdey waiting for someone to scare a captive bread Pheasant into the sky....I have no interest, and see no pleasure in that at all, but I do accept there is a market for this type of shooting and it helps support the industry. I take the Piss relentlessley out of the Ferret and Dog boys...because I can, I have several mates who I call on when I need a hand with dogs and ferrets, and they take the piss out of

JSB are fine..many would say very good..... What do I think....I think I would like to know how they have managed to keep the same zero with a heavier pellet?? I would also like to know what power they suggest to achieve 100yard shots!! PERHAPS THE HEAVIER PELLET HAS A BETTER BC ?GO ON TO SITE AND YOUR QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED.ITS OBVIOUS REALLY It's very simple....you asked what do you think guys? I replied with a very sensible response..especially as you had not posted a link..just a web address and I couldn't find the thread...I note I was the only one as well..if y

Not used the Browning A Bolt, but I'll be at the Game Fair this weekend, see if I can get my hands on one!

Moderated SG's are becoming more available but I've never used one.....are they good..moderation wise, what about balance???

Simple explainaition..... Bullet leaves barrel rotating and gasses leap out of the barrel causing muzzle flip (commonly upwards) or twisting the barrel, a correctly made and fitted muzzle break directs blast gasses out evenly, up down, sideways to prevent/reduce this flip effect and make the shot more accurate. Also tends to reduce muzzle flash, not as well as a flash guard, and can actually look incredible at night..but so do most rifles/shotguns...just let go a 12g at night and it will look like a flame thrower!! The muzzle break really showed it's worth shortly after the introduction

Looking at your signature...why..or don't you have a SGC for the Riz that you suggest you have!!!! Try your closest Police Station or simply sit back, let your fingers do the walking round your keyboard and download one!! Some RFD also carry the forms!!
-
With regards muzzle breaks as mentioned in the preceding post...they should be banned, except on an air rifle or rimmy...if you have stood anywhere near a half decent centrefire you will know why, the ground shakes, your head is knocked off your shoulders, the neighbours (5 miles away) come screaming and the wildlife all moves to another county!!! Just my opinion of course.....
-
Not a common thing to do, but perfectly legal and mounts available as has been said. I avoid using the SG during the hours of darkness, simply because the noise can travel for miles, tend to stick to the rimmy or centrefires (all moderated) at night. But it's up to the individual and the situation!

You really need to lighten up.... and if you can't work out that the BDS looking after 5 deer species is a comment about the BDS I rest my case...and if you don't want me to respond to personal comments about me then don't make them! It's nothing to do with nit picking...so a new member joins the site ..reads the post and end up with a big debate with his mates because he says we have 5 species of deer in the uk...must be true as I read it on THL. That will be really helpful to everyone!
-
Looks like we pretty much ALL have the same opinion of the BDS...that must say something...!!!
