  1. The stupid, green, tree hugging, anti fox hunting brigade are responsible for changing the laws...nobody said anything about keeping the fox under control. I have not seen this but 40 in one night is incredible, and is a reflection of the simple fact that this ground was saturated. The land owners dictate vermin control not shooters..you are not allowed to hunt with horses and hounds..you can kill them any other legal way...the car seems quite effective, apparently 100,000 are killed on the roads every year! I shoot fox for a hunt, we then make a mess of them ..put them in a sack,
  2. Don't understand..you bought a new Moderator..it doesn't appear to work correctly, take it back and ask them why..what are they going to charge you for??
  3. It's a 10-22....I recomend a new barrel, stock, action, trigger and anything else you bought. I don't understand how a manufacturer can continue to make something that is so bad it has the biggest aftermarket parts available of any gun...actually, yes I do...why improve crap that everyone knows is crap BUT still buys by the bucket load.. On the plus side.... it is probably the best semi you can buy....f**k me ...what does that say about the rest.... :11: But they can be fun, if you can make them work, and are such a bad shot you need a few goes quick.... Where is the
  4. Hi John Harris ...BOTH SWIVEL.... I have the 9-13 notched...Springs kick the legs out. & the 12-25, 3 extension leg where the springs pull the legs back. I recon the notched are far better and wish I could have got them with the taller bipod. Can set the bipod up far quicker...but hey...we all have an opinion and preference!! It's a free world, and difficult to believe though it may be, some people even buy Bipods that don't say Harris on them...funny old world!
  5. Not sure about, or why, a 5/8 cut!?!? Nothing wrong with it of course but why???? Edgar Bros get these cut in the UK as 1/2 inch, then send out to dealers. So where did 5/8 come from??? If you are interested or concerned about it..... the OLD trigger is grooved to the finger.....the NEW X Mark Pro Trigger (or whatever they call it) is smooth. So it's easy to tell when you pick the gun up which trigger you have. Neither trigger will win any quality awards but the new one is meant to be a distinct improvement, and too be fair, having dry fired it in the dealers a few times it see
  6. Many of us have been in a similar position and the answer is ..the one you get! There are loads of manufacturers out there and somehow or other they all make a living..so someone must think they are all the best. I am not a fan of the Ruger, although it is as old as the hills, a proven tool and works, just not the gun for me. The Remington SPS is currently sitting at No2 on my list, I already have 4 FAC tools and have just put the variation in for another 4. The Remington gets a lot of stick for being a mass produced, American, disposable product, with a lousy trigger and a flagpol
  7. That all seems pretty helpful and should put you in the picture. If you have a heavy barrel it will not make a lot of difference but light barrels can heat up a lot after just a few shots, at which time you will find the POI drops!
  8. Oooooooh! Light the blue touch paper and stand well back! I would certainly dispute that they're just toys... they're responsible for numerous pest control duties and I've racked up more results, with the 12 ft/lbs air rifle than I ever could with a rimmy or centerfire. 500 rounds of ammo for less than a tenner... Anyone else want to stick the boot in on Deker? Only kidding! But you really hurt my feelings, Deker! Chris...take another look...I'm not talking about 12ft lb air rifles...I'm talking about the moderators they stick on some of the cheap ones!!!

  10. So what's the background on a £5 Shotgun? It sounds like you have either got the deal of the century or a deathtrap??
  11. I like 5's....when I'm walking around the fields I find them an excellent "all round" cartridge, rabbit, pigeon, pheasant, crow, squirrel, etc, ground, tree or air. Give a decent range, hit hard, whilst still holding a sensible quantity of lead...just find them very useful and versatile. Works well for me and usually with 1/2 Choke!
  12. Yep...the mean looking black monster...I thought he was big in the field but he's even bigger face to face, and typically we could not raise Alan at all. Steve said he'd give him a call Friday to explain how his bull was in a completely different field to when he left him!
  13. Thanks to you all for the responses and comments ...I emailed Sporting Shooter immediately after I posted this so I'll keep you all in touch. Thanks also to the many people who have emailed me, sent me texts and called, I did't know so many people knew me or read Sporting Shooter!! Thanks to you all for taking the time....hopefully this will all be resolved and the correction printed in next months edition.
  14. Fair comment... but anyone with even a small amount of experience knows domed perform best overall by a mile....good to have a little detail... BUT you forgot to mention this was lifted straight out of the latest edition of the BASC magazine!!! . Here is me thinking the idea of this forum was to pass on usefull pieces of information to those who are new to the sport or have what you describe as " small amounts of experiance"... as for the original post yes it was taken from the latest edition of BASC but did I plagiarize this in any way and pass it off as my own work ??....I think
  15. Page 32 August 2008 Sporting Shooter Magazine is MY picture of the squirrel job many of you have already seen. So Kenny in East Lothian ...how the f**k do you have the cheek to claim it....and where is my bottle of Scotch??? The squirrels were all taken at a Country Park in Berkshire, the picture was taken in my back garden in Berkshire, that is ME in the picture, and I have many other pictures in this series to prove the case.....like the one below.......Picture Copyright Deker 11/2007 Now the email to Sporting Shooter....
  16. My mate gobby says.. If they find an overpowered WORKING rifle and no pellets it is still overpower. With reasonable cause (and that will mean almost anything) the police can take away any air rifle and test it. A rifle that does NOT work cannot possibly be over 12ft lb!
  17. Out last night up the dairy farm, actually it's sort of more of a rare breeds cow farm with small numbers of interesting looking things in different fields. Terrible night, after deer and Fox (they have a few chicken as well and Charlie is always everywhere I'm not). No sign of either untill late when we saw a Roe ...NEXT DOOR!!!, 2 rabbit all night between 2 of us and then the rains came.....headed back to the motor to find in one of the lanes between the fields a BULL, free and roaming!!! I wandered up to him bold as brass in the hope I could persuade him back over the fence he ha
  18. Look ...first off.... ask why you want the tactical...what does it offer you want over any of the other lightning models...it's a 12ft lb (nearly) lump!!! If you have the skills/engineering equipment to cut a thread then by all means do it and spend money on another mod. Many 12ft lb air rifle mods are no more than toys and do very little, there is only so much you can do with a 12ft lb gun anyway, it is hardly ear splitting to start with!
  19. It's always a friend isn't it...so.... if none of these had valves how could they test them and why did they take him to court and for what???
  20. As many as you can get..pretty obvious really.......... my Falcon runs 26ft lb and I get 32 FULL power shots...not usually a problem BUT I would be very happy with more, less charging, less air to buy, less trips back to the motor to charge it and MORE shooting. Mr Theoben rules with shots per charge and all credit to him...why don't the others improve???
  21. bloody hell Deker.......i thought that said stop FERETTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SEAN Well...... stop that too if you like...more for me too shoot.....bits of knotted string and some half starved stinker of a polecat...call that sport?????????? :whistling: I'm sorry Deker, but that's just not cricket old chap! You seem to be in one of your cantankerous periods again, time of the month again, is it love! Go and shout at some kids for playing football outside your house or something! Think you missed the point M...look at the emoticons after the post....y
  22. Had a Parker Hale many moons back but I have to say I think the SAK edges it. Rimmy ammo is filthy and to get the best out of your moderator you should clean it on a "regular" basis. However...it must be said, that probably, the main grief caused by dirty rimmy mods is crud falling back into the barrel rather than much reduction in sound suppression! Like all things shooting though...look after your tools and they will look after you!
  23. Does look a big rabbit (unless the person carring it is only 2" tall) Had some decent sized ones in the last couple of days myself, but that is certainly unusual...the big uns seem to be few and far between these days, seen some "old" pictures and the rabbit ALL seem bigger than today...we just getting too good at stopping them before they get that size or is this some reflection on modern society??
  24. bloody hell Deker.......i thought that said stop FERETTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SEAN Well...... stop that too if you like...more for me too shoot.....bits of knotted string and some half starved stinker of a polecat...call that sport?????????? :whistling:
  25. Just to clarify things a little....... Mixxy was introduced into the UK nearly 60 years ago, since it's introduction not a single case has been found in man, fox or ANY other wildlife. We p**s around with nature all the time but remarkable as it may seem, Mixxy is a disease of the Rabbit...END OF! There are suggestions that mixxy infected rabbits are more tender...I have no desire to test the theory.... but be very confident YOU, YOUR CAT, DOG, FERRET ETC ETC WILL NOT CATCH MIXXY!!! Chill out, stop fretting and enjoy!!
