Yep..loads of them..start by showing this thread to the FEO when you get the home visit and all your problems will be solved! Failing that you could always ask, lampingking, essexlad06, Guevara, wingshooter etc

A one gun answer would have to be .223. If you are going 2 guns it would be .22LR, and for what you suggest .223 (or .243 if you want a bit of future proofing)

your favourit 22lr round for rabbit

Interesting one this...I have tried a lot over the years and you will be faced with barrel, loading system, personal preference, etc etc but I suspect as several have said the Eley subs take a lot of beating for quality and grouping GENERALLY. However, I use Magtech 40g Subsonic HP almost exclusively in my CZ Silhouete now. I do not suggest it is the BEST ammo in my gun but it extremely good and costs just under half what the Eley does....ticks all the boxes for me! -
I'm being jerked about all over the place trying to get Tikka T3 Hunter in .243 at the moment, during my search this has just cropped up...$558 in the States, and you will be very lucky to get one at the same £ in the UK.....then Mr Beretta (Tikka) has the cheek to ship most production to the States and we are simply the poor relation and get anything that may be left over. It always seems to be the same with guns...the world production heads towards America where they sell them at half the price we get charged, just don't get it! YEP --- Just Fox, did you ask for ground game and vermin for the .223?? -
got it in one, to many armchair hunters, teenage twats, and hunting posing anti's, and we cant win, we banned people that bring the site down, only for members to cry "bring them back", or members posting illegal pictures[/b], or just plain arguing between one an other, still that brings "wheres my picture gone" members wont be happy till the site folds Couldn't agree more.

Deker replied to lampingking's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
i am 17 years old . will i get my FAC...i will be going out with an adult (who is a non FAC holder). i have loads of permition . and it has been inspected by the fier arms officer. i have no criminal records or convictions. do you think i will get my FAC...thanks Judging from this thread alone..... NO! -
alimac Take a Chill Pill!!! I'll book you up some shooting lessons with Mr Logic..then you can re write that book you read about 60-70 yard .22LR distance. He is a very good shot (but don't tell him I said so). When you have finished your lessons with him I'll give you the advanced course!
-
This distance business can only lead to no good. Simple fact is that someone will always be able to do better than somone else but it is human nature to push to boundry...and yes.. of course we are all pleased with the long shots. I shoot the humble .22LR at 200 yard Short Siberia at Bisley regulary and I'm dissapointed if I don't get at least a couple of V bulls, and that's my little CZ 452 hunting tool. I have a lot of experience with long range .22LR (Sub & HV). If I take a long shot in the field then I am confident. My longest rabbit is a baby, at 196 yards with the 452

What is a fac rifle and what can it do?
Deker replied to essexlad06's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Sorry chap, you seem to paint of picture of experience and as you say...and I'd done my research on it all too, then you ask a question/s like this. You can buy whatever gun your FAC allows for target shooting, but if your FAC lists Target shooting and NOT vermin control then the answer to your question about bunny is glaringly obvious...you are breaking the Firarms laws and risking a LOT of grief! -
WHY????? What is it meant to do to the barrel? And Why .223, they make plenty of calibres in steel cases, what about all the others??? Have you ever asked anyone who has used it about their barrel??? It's news to me and I use it a lot in my Tikka .223 which has very fine rifling, I have no problem. If someone knows something I don't and can tell me I'm going to get a problem I'd like to know please!!! Here's what others have said about cheap Russian ammo': "I’ve heard things about Wolf Ammunition being bad for barrels and other parts. For those who don’t k

Been out a lot recently and got I right ticking off, "You're in trouble" she says, "you better take me out somewhere expensive"! So I took her up the Petrol Station!!

Spent cartridges have a spent percussion cap! Snap caps have a spring in the percussion cap area to take the strain from the firing pin! No need for a snap cap in a semi, when you have finished with the gun hold the cocking bolt about an inch open and pull the trigger, this will release the firing pin whilst minimising the dry firing pressure...easy!!! MAKE SURE THE CHAMBER IS EMPTY FIRST, just in case something silly happens!!!

I might have initially suggested it ... Oh, I thought that a .223 would be dropping quickly at 300 yards. Like for like a .223 will be dropping more than a 22-250 at 300 yards but a light .223 will perform very nearly the same...also ask yourself the question...are they all at 300??? If you are only concerned about the drop and are only shooting at 300 then zero at 300 on a .223 and it goes in the same place every time! Everyone has their own requirements, a 22-250 is excellent at what it does but it is costly in guns and ammo and is nowhere near as versatile as

Vermin out to 300 yards and the occasional fox. The FEO also mentioned a 22-250 as an alternative. Both these are fast & flat (22-250 is f*****g noisy as well). Both are very good at what they do but this comes at a price. If you are shooting mainly at longer distances certainly consider these but if you are mainly shooting a bit shorter then..... a .223 will be easier on the pocket, much wider choice of ammo and guns, happily deal with 300 yards (I've used it at 600 on the range) AND give you much more versatility!

Quick update... I decided to take a chance and invested in the JSR Target Pro 4-16x44. Ordered it on the web, got it mail order, arrived within 48 hours of placing the order, £64.95 including delivery. The scope appears reasonably well made although the "paint" markings seem cheaply done! Turret clicks seem pretty crisp on this one (at the moment)! Optically, it seems very good at the moment, I'm still waiting on my latest variation so I don't have it on a rifle yet. Obviously hope it will hold a zero but only time will tell. At the moment I would say good value for mon

What is your hunting requirement?? The .204 still remains a bit of an unknown quantity, they are not easy to find and neither is the ammo, and it isn't cheap! I looked at these a lot about a year ago and decided I didn't have a place for them in my cabinet. They have a very limited area of use IMHO. If you insist, think about the Ruger, but I suggest you forget it. Just my opinion!

The Home Office Guidelines state Fox, Feral Cat and other such sized quarry as being medium size. I guess Mink would also qualify. If I was you I would ask for small pest species (or vermin) to be added. Spot on for medium size and that is ALL you can shoot with it! You want Vermin & Ground game and other small quarry added...this brings in rat, hare, rabbit, grey squirrel and other small sized quarry (like MINK)! It all get a bit silly at times with various regions, I know a guy who has squirrel down on his .308 but my region (at the moment) refuses to put fox on th

Hit man...the money is good and the hours are short, other than that "shooting" for a living is hard work, daft hours and poor pay....but I love it!!! Who wouldn't, 02.00 in the morning, freezing cold, up to your ankles in mud and covered in the damp from the mist..must be mad! Hey! Decker, is this you. http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=nHYC4ekzg60 LMFAO Love it If it is you decker are you here on a working visa or are you an illegal??
