  1. That's good to hear, I've still got a lot of old stock. Bought in bulk to save money and kept stock high, working through it so I'll be getting some new stuff soon.
  2. I'm hoping to have Christmas-New Year week off, but that's as unlikely as Rocking Horse s**t! Nobody seems to tell the Pests/wildlife about Weekends, Bank Holidays, Celebrations, etc, I always get calls, goes with the territory!
  3. Not particularly familiar with those so it will be interesting to see how you get on. The HMR has come in for a lot of flack, but that revolves almost exclusively around the ammo, yes, it's susceptible to the wind as well, but nowhere near as much as .22lr so that's a bit unfair! I rate it highly for field use, even managed to get it on the target once at 600 yards at Bisley, hope you are happy with yours! I get the impression HMR ammo has improved a lot over the last few years (splits/squibs/misfires etc) but I'm not sure, have they found another way of annealing the cases or
  4. 14 years since a post was made on this thread, so I guess there have not been many refusals in that time. Still don't know what happened to the original author!?
  5. And the article is full of assumptions!!!
  6. I've used, and still use all sorts of traps, but for squirrel on trees etc I've been using Kania with tunnel, must be about 10 years I've been using them and it still frightens me when I set them! They can also be difficult to set when nailed to a tree and you're at the top of a ladder. These are about half the price of a kania/tunnel and seem to be a bit lighter as well, like I say, worth a try!
  7. You are probably right, but even back then some of the Turkish guns were ok, it did seem to be mainly the Hatsan Escort that was causing loads of problems. There was the cycling issue as well of course, they were very fussy!
  8. Thanks for that, just looked them up, I think that seems worth a try!
  9. In the UK the Grey is "largely" immune to the virus, but still carries it and commonly infects the Red, and so the march of Grey domination continues!
  10. Certainly seem plenty of the Greys round my way this year! Rabbits a bit down but the squirrels up!
  11. What is that, can't say I'm familiar with those! Cheers
  12. Back then the Hatsan Escort was a disaster zone and frankly dangerous, my lads blew up, bulged the barrel and sent the end of it and bits of choke into the next county. It was all down to rubbish manufacturing and quality control (the whole design was somewhat lacking as well). There was a raft of disaster posts about the gun! I have not heard much about them over the last few years so I suspect they have improved designs/guns!
  13. They are certainly of an age, and a mixed lot, it looks like one near the bottom left/side has 2 x firing pin marks on the case??? If they have been in a cow shed a long time, they may still go bang, but I suspect the years and atmosphere will have taken their toll, but who know until you give them a try. I have some Radway Green 7.62 from 1985, it is still superb and consistent, but it has been stored appropriately!
  14. Its been a year since he posted this, who knows what he is up to now, I think he is more of a Dog man though!
  15. I have 1 site which is a Free Range Chicken/Geese/Duck farm, over the last 19 years I have been shooting there I have averaged 14 fox a year from this one site, coincidentally with you, I have just take the 18th this year on that site alone! To be honest I don't know my absolute total as I don't keep tally of the domestic jobs, but I think I'm on about 65 so far for the year! I've hit 100 a few years but generally between about 35-80 a year!
  16. They don't look like CZ anymore, shades of the Sako stock. Even the metalwork looks different!! All mine are 452 models, can't fault them for field work, so if the 457 is as good/better you are on a winner!
  17. I got a job on a site that had a major problem, yes, I took a serious number of squirrels, it just happened to be me, many people could have done the same on that site!
  18. Let me know if you want some help! My lad lives in Caerphilly, I could see him and help you...so long as yours don't fly too fast!
  19. I've saved that so I can give it a try...I still have no confidence in my ability though! Time will tell! Cheers
  20. Never tried, like the birds as they are, but I have to say that's an idea, I'd be happy to try a meatloaf, need to find a good recipe, I'm not the worlds greatest cook!!
  21. I'm no fan of his attitude/comments/views, but he can drive a bit! What qualifies many actors/musicians/sportsmen/etc etc to lecture us?
  22. That's a good total for a day by any method!
  23. Must be at least 2 years since I had a woodcock, to be honest probably a bit more, not many about here and too quick for me these days! Can't remember ever seeing 7 in a single shoot!
  24. I can see where most of the comments immediately above are coming from...put simply, that isn't even close to proof.
