  1. Some quality play in much of the competition, but the Semis are great viewing, just hope the Final doesn't end up a bore!!
  2. There is hope for the world yet!
  3. If you do ever find anything that works let me know please, I have a handful of similar sites. Cheers
  4. Excellent on foxes and flat for a while, but falls away at distance quite quickly. Energy retention falls away to. Just the same, out to 200 yards superb, good to 300(ish), depends on distance you need! They work well in my Tikka T3 Hunter but can be fussy about twist! I think the Tikka T3 Supervarmint 243 and my Hunter are both 1-10 just the same.
  5. Never specifically had a snake job, but on 2 separate occasions found one in external rat boxes, jumped out of my skin on first sight!
  6. Some .22lr powder is filthy, mine have SAK on them and simply taking them off and thumping them, piles of crud fall out! I clean all my barrels regularly, but my .22lr's the least, they are dedicated, Sub Sonic Lead ammo guns, no copper coat. Just the same when I do clean them it is carefully and thoroughly, I never use a bore snake as the OP mentioned, evil things!
  7. Closest place to Reading to get a decent Service for this please? Thanks!
  8. Packham is appearing on more and more programs, I don't see the BBC kicking him out any time soon....... Unfortunately!
  9. Part of reply just received from BASC............... "I’ve spoken to a couple of colleagues and as long as the relevant General Licence you are controlling the Canada’s under is followed ............... you will be within the law." Obviously still rules about night shooting, artificial illumination, for instance, but seems NIGHT SHOOTING SPECIFICALLY is within the law.
  10. It's a Great site to have on the CV, the bloke is the typical big shot who thinks he knows things but really doesn't have a clue! I get silly statements all the time from customers, but as I have never had to deal with Canada Geese at night before I thought I better double check. Interestingly, I still have no confirmation back from NE or the BASC yet.
  11. Sensible logic, I like that! Nothing is ever simple, I didn't think it was a problem NIGHT shooting, but a senior guy on site said it was, so I said I would get it confirmed. What a load of malarkey that has turned into!
  12. You'd think that would be simple....I'm waiting for their reply, they said they would find out and get back to me!!! I've asked BASC as well, same response from them!
  13. Not there, although I did look after Heathrow, Airside and Landside for about 4 years from about 2008-2012. That was fun getting guns, knives, traps, poisons etc Airside. My "Tools of the Trade Pass" made for very interesting reading.
  14. No, (and its mainly helicopters). Like I said, everything has been taken care of............. The question is simply, is it legal to shoot them at night? Thanks!
  15. Thanks everyone. The site is VERY High Profile, very large and has 24 hour security. I have extensive experience of shooting Canada Geese but have never had to consider NIGHT shooting them, and a cursory comment from someone suggested that was illegal, I didn't think it was, but because of the nature of this site I must be absolutely 100% sure. General Licences inc.CL12, FAC Conditions, Other means of removing them have been tried, Lighting, rifles, shotguns, ammo types, Sundays, Bank Holidays, Geese numbers, specific location on site, number of operatives, safety, neighbours etc
  16. Perhaps, the wording says or sighting device for NIGHT SHOOTING (That implies Night vision scope??), it doesn't say normal day scope, it implies a scope for NIGHT USE, unclear or ambiguous!!!!! Regardless of that, I was/am not 100% clear if specifically shooting them at night is legal/illegal, and I need to know 100% on this site, it is a VERY High Profile site and I can't afford mistakes! Cheers
  17. Thanks, this is why I am asking the question, I can't find a definitive answer! I know that part, BUT, the world is not PITCH BLACK everywhere and we get full moons etc, I have shot ALL night before without any artificial illumination! Can I shoot Canada Geese at night, or is there anything legal specifically preventing me from doing that? Cheers
  18. Now here's a new one to me after all these years, can I shoot Canada Geese at night, never had to before ? This is out of season but covered by at least 2 General Licences (and will not be a Sunday or Bank Holiday), and will be with RIFLES, with geese on the ground, so that's taken care of. The site is High Profile and sensitive, and daytime is out of the question. Saturday daytime is also out of the question, that is their busiest time! So, can I shoot them at night? Cheers
  19. Never a fan of the 453, but I think I missed the 454 and 456, did they actually release them, if not, I wonder why they didn't use the numbers!?
  20. I can't agree with that, for close range almost any rimfire is excellent, then the Hornets and then the classic .222/.223 (even the .204), longer range the .243 is superb. I simply don't agree there is a single perfect fox calibre, and the .204 is the only calibre I have ever seen splash on a fox, so that didn't impress me much. There are certainly a few .204 about, and it has a following, so it must be doing something right, but it has never been a major contender in the UK. As always, each to their own and their requirements!
  21. Totally agree, all mine are LIGHT (or at least NOT heavy barrel) and for field work do me just fine! Each to their own, I have a pal who lugs around a real heavy Sako and thinks I'm the twit, such is life!
  22. Cheers. So the electronics/mount is ok with centrefire?!
  23. Ok, I know there has been talk about these and potentially upgrades. I know next to nothing, are they any good, what else is comparable/better for a similar price, do they come with gun mounts and where is the best (cheapest) place to get one? What about battery life, I hear not too long??? Anything else I need to know before investing? Many thanks!
  24. I think they are still in lockdown, I normally get there in the eve and they are locked away anyway then, but the fox seems to still find a way!!!
