Correct Ali, Its bullet/pellet placement that kills, Same with rifle shooting. Sorry chaps I have to take issue with both of the above statements. You can only choke a shotgun so much and even on full, at 50 yards a 9 is nearly spent, yes, it is possible but certainly not a cartridge to consider in my book. And its NOT the same as a bullet...a 12g Shotgun Cartridge can vary between approx 500ft lb to 2000ft lb depending on the load, in addition the vast difference in the size and weight of the pellets has a considerably different effect on the terminal impact. (muzzle speed

These 2 rifles are totally different in almost every respect except calibre...the T3 Lite is exactly that, 6.2lbs, a cracking rifle for hunting and carrying around for hours, a DM as has been said, and shoots well! The Howa is a tank 9.7lbs, far more solid but weights a ton, 3.5lbs MORE than a Tikka, you will not want to carry that around all day (or even for a few hours), but also shoots well!

Why the sudden change to my shooting
Deker replied to Squirrel_Basher's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Assuming it is still grouping well...all be it, 5 inches low and 2 to the left I can only suggest a zero shift: loose bolts, stuffed crown, damaged moderator would tend to produce shotgun groups! Is the scope ok..has it had a knock?? -
ive also heard something along these lines, as i was going to be using my T8 on my 17hmr but was warned of the dangers... i use sak on my 17, and im pleased with the results.. This is true chaps.....rimfire ammo is very dirty, primarily because it is a relatively inefficient burn, that's why you often get great lumps in the moderator and they can be clearly seen inside the barrel. Centerfire ammo is more efficient and burns hotter and faster. If a moderator has been used a LOT on a rim fire and powder sediment has built up, it is certainly possible that the centrefire prope

someone can correct me here but i think you need land to be able to get an FAC, target shooting dosnt clasify as a need to own one. Best way is to just ask alot of farmers for permision, most dont require payment for it as your doing them a favour keeping their pests down, just pop round a a load of farms, dressed up smart but not over the top, and just explain that you want to help control their vermin for them, if they say no, just try the next farm along. of course when you get your fac with land theres then nothing stoping you joining a club and doing target' shooting, but you will nee

Well, probably already contravened a million race relations and sex discriminations acts, etc etc, just saying that.....But *uc* it......what the hell is going on here...I like women, cars, booze hunting and good mates...is there something wrong in that???
-
I think you need to slow down and decide what you really do want and what you can afford, and what the FEO may allow you!! What have you already got on FAC?????? The original implication was that money was an issue, now we are talking custom thumbhole stocks!! I'm getting lost, do you know Wingshooter or Guevara?

deer rifle to supplement a 22-250
Deker replied to archie_199er's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
We all have to contend with different calibres, different bullet weights, different zeros..its shooting...can't help thinking you are complicating things, and why would you want more than .243 for deer?? -
A lot of interesting quotes of the law here... Which Act or Acts, and which sections are you all quoting from??

The Old Model 70 Winchester (with HUNDREDS of variants) was a great gun in almost all it's guises. It was a sad day when it went out of production and I suspect getting a new, "Old" Model 70 will be pretty hard now. The Winchester Model 70 is BACK IN PRODUCTION, with a much more limited range, and I understand, not many good things have been said about the latest production models! So..be mindful when we talk of the Model 70 Winchester!!

Never fired one, but seen the pics, the comments above hardly seem glowing, but agree with what I have heard!

Are you Specifically after a Semi Auto and a Wildfowling gun or a "Field" shotgun?? I understand (but someone may know better) these Webley shotguns come out of the same factory in Turkey as the Hatsan Escorts, they may be a fraction better but that leaves me with serious concerns. Whatever, if you have £500 then I would suggest a better Used gun!!

Don't know what this "stud like thing" is on the barrel, but it could be useful as I'm not sure how or where you could mount a stud in the stock...(perhaps somewhere on the side). A stud in the Butt should be straightforward! But sounds painful every time I say it Trigger plate is a no no for a sling fixing!

curious about bipods....bi-curious???
Deker replied to Sterry's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Lots of questions.... Fixed Bipods fine if you ONLY do range work off the flat, but tilt often an advantage even at the range, and definately best in the field! All sorts of studs..and barrel...and bottle fixings available for bipods. A lot has been said about the "new" Deben bipods, but they are still a relatively unknown product, I would suggest Harris every time, shop around, there are plenty of good discounts available on Harris! -
Tikka is owned by Sako, you will never get a great piece of wood on a Tikka as all the best stuff goes on the Sako, the same can be argued, although is not necessarily correct, about all the metalwork as well. Sako make Tikka barrels! Mr Beretta owns them BOTH as a matter of interest! If you want synthetic, then Tikka T3 Lite (New version with shorter, cut barrel) or Remington 700SPS DM (even though these are now available cut the barrel is still a flagpole, so consider an uncut one and simply cut and chop it) would be my suggestion. ALSO...consider these carefully...an excellent pack

A Strip Club is favourite these days, always used to be Morris Dancing, if none of those appeal then perhaps you may want to think about a RIFLE CLUB!!! Try looking at this too.....Home Office Firearms Law Guidance to the Police 2002 (it's downloadable on line) ...and take a look at Firearms Certificate Pinned at the top of this forum!!

Sorry mate, Dieseling doesn't happen in the barrel it happens in the piston chamber, but your right about the lube in the empty tin first, that does work, lol, I only use lube on one of my rifles and that's the Gamo Shadow and the difference is quite a lot, Takes mine from 14.5 FPE to over 16.FPE, and has no adverse affects to my accuracy, so if your thinking of using any lube you best make sure you ain't going over to the dark side??? All the best, Rob. are you sure that dieseling cannot also occur in the barrel as well as the air chamber ?, in effect when the air passes in

Are you a collector, what are you after in a rifle, have you not found what you are after yet in any of these Hundreds of rifles you have owned over the years? EEeeeeeRRRRRRRR chap, it's a free world, have what you like, enjoy what you like, believe what you like, but I find it strange you will NEVER find a Springer in any decent Target competition these days, can't help thinking that makes a statement about which is most accurate!! Most accurate or more easy??? Like you say its a free world, but to put down springer's is an insult to the sport bud,, IL have a shoot up with you w

Lightly with linseed, yep..... but I favour Legia, cleans as well, and works well on metal and wood, and does not leave a greasy or glossy finish!
-
Give up..perhaps when a lower calibre is required.......I can see and perhaps understand ......... I have a .308 can I have a free variation for a .22LR instead... I struggle with...... I have a FAC air Rifle.. I'm swapping it for a .308... ...variation may be free BUT..that is also very refuseable and needs reason/need..does not add up! But then again, not many of the firearms law do add up!!

Not sure about Dog V Gun.....they both have a place and a good dog is a real asset, even if you have a gun in your hand!!

I had exactly the same problem with my HW80 altogether the length of rifle and silencer made it about 53 inches long which is daft if your only 5ft 7 like me, i had the barrel cut and threaded & re-crowned and then with the wiehrauch silencer fitted it was the same length as the original rifle there was No loss of power No loss of accuracy and it Wasn't any louder and with the silencer it was whisper quiet Do it but take it to a good gunshop to get it done properly. Each to their own, but cut and thread is not cheap, the barrel is that length for a reason and the consensus seems
