If you stick with the same hands and don't try and swap then is is very awkward and takes longer..if you try and swap hands then you have to learn to shoot again...I'm struggling with this...a 300 mile trip to look at a gun with the bolt the wrong side....it must be a very special gun or VERY cheap...a none starter in my book but you obviously have your reasons..

What is the most humane way of killing a deer?
Deker replied to Lennard's topic in Deer Stalking & Management
I have never been in this position without a gun to hand but what I would stress, as has been mentioned, do not underestimate the power of thrashing hooves or antlers if embarking on this act of kindness!! 5 or 6 years back I saw a well intentioned Police Officer with half his face hanging off at the roadside after a debate with an injured Roe! -
Stalking this afternoon with Foxdropper...................
Deker replied to martin's topic in Deer Stalking & Management
Martin The words have all been said but that grin on your face says a lot more -
i dont agree with hitting a dog either but i have given mine a light tap a couple of times with fingers So that doesn't count as hitting....how about a sharpe yank on the lead...is that ok!! Guys/Gals....I cannot help but think there is a definition issue here..I think very few are in favour of beating the s**t out of their dog, but there is without doubt a need for a light tap..or rubbing their nose in it or a yank on the lead from time to time until "trained"...if this does not produce the required results in a "relatively" sensible time then you are doing something wrong or have the

F*** this diesel /jayes malarky...fresh soft steaming horse s**t...loads of it and check all the access points, not always used, but used for air supply..fill the lot and keep your fingers crossed! If you want to encourage the fox to other land then leave out plenty of rabbit and pheasant and pigeon and rat etc in the area of a decent bank/rabbit warren for the fox to "hopefully" inhabit...failing that just bait and shoot!! There are no guarantees..it's wildlife!

Thanks for all the responses. I think this shows fairly conclusively that illuminated reticles do have a use for long range night IF the reticle is VERY fine, failing that a bit of a gimmick! Interesting...Cheers!!!

HW95K project, finished!!!! well, its finally done.this ones definately a keeper. below are some pics of when i first got it(bottom pic) and how it looks now... Looks like you embarked on a bit of a project here and on the face of it the result appears good...so..to cut to the important stuff...what power is it delivering and how much did this project cost!! Cheers!!

theres too many choices ! & its a big step to fork out the cash on a moddy when its not known which moddy will suit each rifle.. the main 3 ive been looking at are the Ase utra, reflex T8 & the wild cat.. i like the idea of it returning back over the barrel to take some of the length off.. one thing with the T8 that interested me was they state that theres no need for stripping down to clean, but after taking my sak off after a few 100 shots & seeing the build up i cant see how a moddy can go without a clean.. i will have my rifle by next week & want to sort a m

Lots of reasonable shops around London but few at a sensible price IN London! As said, look for a private sale and buy On Line, will tend to be the best way financially!!

The 10/22 is notorious for jams and failures. The rifle is still probably one of the best of a bad bunch, semis ALWAYS cause problems wether it be a rimmy or a shotgun! The key "tends" to be maintenance and cleaning, but you will always get the good ones and the bad ones regardless. Subs add to the problems of cycling, but then high velocity tend to have a spread like a shotgun. Don't have one, don't want one, but used them several times and know several people who have them...Winchester subs (for some reason) do seem to be a top choice!

USELESS, a real zero can only be establised by live fire Check Zero before you go and protect Gun/scope on the trip! It Isn't!! Just my opinion!!

I totally agree with quality BUT, and there is a big BUT, I have a few £65-£90 gems of JSR scopes on rimfires and centrefires and they are Brilliant for the money, day and night. And at the end of the day all you can lose is £65-£90...worth a try for some, I suspect you Will be surprised! Don't write off some of the "innexpensive" scopes...optically these JSR are really pretty good, the big difference is the overall build quality which simply does not compare to some of the "expensive" scopes..but if you are not in the £300-£1500 scope league do not despair!!

Watchable entertainment!!! To put the land size into perspective 7500 acres is a triangle with 3 sides of roughly 5 miles each!! Depends where you are standing though when you pull the trigger of course where the bullet "may" end up! Shotgun wise there were plenty of shots where traffic could easily be seen on adjoining roads! Problem with Scotland is the trespass laws are very different to England...any dipstick is allowed to wonder on your land and have a picnic!! (unless things have changed recently). Cheers

Hi Davy ...sounds very odd but a word here may well help.. http://www.air-arms.co.uk/HOME.htm

Each manufacturer has it's own take on Mil Dots but on most scopes you will only find them suitable to "range" on 10X! Answer to your question is simply practice...all my scopes are mill dot and I like them but a lot of other Christmas Trees etc, etc, use exactly the same principle but simply use lines!!

if hare can be shot with a catapult i would have thought a 12ft pound air rifle would have been legal too??? just wondered about that because i'm only goin by what i saw on the warreners dvd about catapults That is not strictly the case...the mere fact of using a 12ft air rifle on a Hare in NOT illegal.. You are however leaving yourself wide open to prosecution under some of the mass of animal protection legislation if you injure it and it runs off..it would be argued it was not a suitable weapon! As regards catapaults the legislation is confused and the same could be argued for

There are lots...Roe and Red...are you after a suitable round for each, or one for both?...reality is, whatever people say you will have to try a few to see what you and the gun get on with! Big Dog or Small Horse size...is there a single round suitable for both...never could understand the "law" and the .243 malarky for both...I compliment Scotlad for showing some sense in this department. Sorry...just off on one again..not after a debate...90g or 100g PRVI softpoint works for me, but almost any lightweight, fast Ballistic tip will bring them down quick (again, not looking for a debat

I had an ASE S5 for over a year before I sold it...I was happy with its construction and performance but it did me no favours with gun balance on the end of my T3 Lite. Never used the Jetz but held one...the weight and size appear better...the price is up...and the tech spec says they have the edge in sound reduction...seems a fair package to me. My Centrefires currently have the P8...definately NOT the best sound reduction but adequate and easy to strip and clean...which means I probably do it too often...had the ASE S5 for over a year and Never cleaned it...still worked a treat!!

It was interesting to watch and I have seen many of the programmes historically in this Kill It, Cook It etc run, and will potentially be happy to watch any more they may come up with.....However...... I am still struggling to understand how come you have all been suckered into this ...it is a TV PROGRAMME...it was nothing to do with being "well balanced" it was about bringing in opposite views to cause conflict/debate and make a TV Programme..it was the double whammy of "The Following programme contains explicit scenes etc etc".....it was not real life and of course we have no idea what e

There are no rules for this mentoring system..it's down to each region to make there own ...but generally YOU will have to find a mentor or you don't get the calibre/condition!

EEERRRR!!! ..the producers don't give a fig about shooting, animal rights, veggies, dumb blondes, etc, etc....they are making a TV programme!! Seems to have worked!!!

Several about..but I hear good things about this... http://www.jacksonrifles.com/

...eeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrr.....what did you think about the SAK then at about £35??? I don't have a DM80, I run a collection of SAK, Sako, and Sirocco on the rimfires and tried several others...including the DM80 on my HMR...no denying it is the best I have used, but it is only a tiny bit better and still noisy and now costs about £100. You have to remember that the little bullet in the HMR is very fast and whatever you do you are going to get the crack through the sound barrier.....I really don't think there is all that to choose between all the moderators, but at least some manufacture

if the trigger is adjustable then whats the problem, or do the trigger kits inprove the overall feel of the trigger? Being adjustable doesn't turn a bad trigger into a good one, and there is only so much adjustment you can do with any trigger!! The Brooks kit offers a massive transformation!!
