  1. This is a debate with no answer. If you are a farmer, whatever, with a fox issue which costs you, the simple answer is get the ******** and I don't care about milky/young anything. No shooter has any desire to cause cruelty! But we go back to Vermin Control and "Sport", the debate will rage on!!
  2. This debate still rages Jamie, not necessarily so any more, my last wasn't proofed and I sold it direct to a RFD. The law is contentious and it largely comes down to what RFD will accept!
  3. totaly agree whats the point of killing next seasons sport. What is sport to one man is Vermin control and a serious battle to many!! ATB!!
  4. I think it has all been said above, you can never say never, but it is ridiculously early for cubs! A bit warmer on the whole and things happen a bit earlier in Devon & Cornwall usually!! Don't expect to see any round these parts for a while yet! ATB!!
  5. always clean my c/f's but put a fowling round through before I go start my next shooting as a clean barrel does affect point of impact.cleaning does prolong barrel life. I was once under the mistaken impression that a cleaned bore (C/F) needed a fouling shot to bring the group back. Now I disagree with that statement. I shoot 6.5, a 17 Rem and two 22.250s and can honestly say after cleaning, the second bullet goes virtually in the same hole as the first - reason? Perfecting one's cleaning regime. To the bore snake boys - dont bother reading any further as your accuracy is going to b
  6. Mine has most definately settled on these as well 17g V-Max, the Remington were **** in my new rifle but I have returned to them with a handful, as I have with the 20g HP CCI which were also **** and they seem to work pretty well now, I wish I knew why the 20g CCI fly higher than the 17g at 100yards though!! . Seems that now my barrel has seen a few thousand rounds it is happy with most, but for some strange reason the Hornady still seem to edge it.... A lot of shooting is in the head remember (especially when you find the right ammo ) At a guess, heavier bullet = longer bulle
  7. Still an area of great debate and largely down to the RFD you sell it to these days!!
  8. Somewhat neither here or there, but if it is a new American then I think it is likely to be about a 22" Barrel!! 16 will be much more manageable!
  9. Anything you hit in the right place at the right distance with the right ammo!! The answer is the same if you are talking Fireball etc or HMR!!
  10. 11. I'd have to go with Stubby, a few like that but to be honest, on the whole, I find most of mine very trap shy... one screwed me about for something like 3 months, *******!! Hey Ho, it isn't the movies you know, this is real life!! Anyway...in the normal course of events I'm honestly not sure, but I can certainly remember a handful inside 20 yards!!
  12. What he said!! ...and as long as he's not related to you, a RFD as well or a part time copper...you get the idea!!
  13. It isn't normal and there is no legal requirement for it...but it is becoming more and more common....I have had requests of mentoring or letters from two guys in the last few months whoo were both applying for rimfires and had been told they needed this!! Both the same FEO as well in Thames Valley!!
  14. I had one of the original 3.5-10x50 Philippines Whitetail Classic on my .223 a few years back. Issues quickly followed because my eyes are not what they were and these were factory Parallax set at 100 yards!! On top of which I prefer Mil Dot...but they are a good scope, just didn't work for me on the .223!!
  15. Don't know but as soon as I saw it I thought Franci or one of the Rizzini's. There would normally be some sort of ID on the barrel inside the fore-end...as you are asking though I suspect there isn't. Manufacturers do usually manage to get their name on the gun somewhere Perhaps it has had some work done..new barrels just guessing!!!
  16. Same here, if it goes out it gets cleaned whether it's fired or not. Every time on the CF!!
  17. There is a bit below on this subject...Tikka Mod, will serve as a good guide!!
  18. Simple fix is silicone sealant and lead in the butt, just unscrew the plate and fill it up, experiment with exactly the right weight first, probably approx 6oz or 150g required!!
  19. Hi: You may have a non-scope related problem. I can't tell without knowing a bit more about your setup. Firstly what rifle, how old, what ammo, new or 'very' used? The 22.250 is a hot round and can burn out a barrel in 2,000 rounds, and a typical 'shot out' example may well group up nicely with 2>4 shots, then go right off the paper when it gets hot, does this sound familiar? Anyway as a general comment, Nikko Stirling scopes are only OK, not rubbish but not that good for a centrefire rifle either. Sorry to run this past you but you need to spend at least £500 on a centrefire scope,
  20. All of mine are the 8 baffle sets, I just have the Compact versions, the baffle set is Exactly the same as in the normal P8, the only difference is the over barrel tube length!!

  22. Only just seen this.... Interesting!!
  23. Rifles/calibres/ammo are simply tools. You need to choose the right one for the job, that's why many people have many rifles, they have many different jobs for them to do. You need to consider your requirements!! Quick overview. If your bunny problem is fairly close range, noise is an issue, funds are an issue, then .22lr with subs! If your problem is longer distance, noise isn't so much of an issue and your pockets are deeper then HMR. If your problems fall into both camps then you need both!
  24. Balance on any T3 Lite with a mod will be terrible (a bit less bad on the new screw cut shorter barrel versions), but it is fixable! It simply comes down to what you want/can live with. Accuracy will most likely improve, felt recoil will decrease and you and the neighbours ears will stop bleeding if you fit a mod!! Edit P8 COMPACT on them all...tube from a Full length P8 at the top right for comparison!
