  1. You are likely to get as many answers as there are pellets and people. What gun is it and what power are you getting?? Very few co2 get up to 12ft lb so it may be a flat head and fairly close range could be useful, or pointed a little further out, if the power is much down from 12ft lb, pellet choice is very likely to be different from 12ft lb! Then, on top of all that, you will need to find one that suits your rifle!! It may also be worth a mention in the air rifle section!!
  2. I suspect, "suspect mind", what we are talking about here is the difference between LAW, Rules and possibly bylaws, in simple terms what owners may decide you can do on their land (water) and what the law allows. Put very simply, legal or civil matters??
  3. It's just a case of finding the land on which I'd be allowed a .243 which is the problem. for my FEO, I believe I have to show reasonably that there are roe deer in the area, AND have a big enough/safe enough plot to justfiy it. This is difficult where I am, and with the small circle of farmers I know here. asking for a .243 and putting 'foxes' down wont seem to cover it in this case. I imagine it's the welsh FEO who would look at a farm in wales though... so would have to get their opinion on it... anyone know the FEO for the west brecon/brecknock area? Just so I understand this correctly
  4. If it isn't here, and I don't think it is, then they don't do it, I know the American and Lux are available for left handers and I suspect the rest are all ambi.. http://www.czub.cz/en/Default.aspx Maybe a word with Edgar Bros to clarify!
  5. I'm finding this thread a little confusing myself, just go with a .243 for everything, ALL deer legal, Fox sanctioned by the Home Office and the Geese aren't going to argue much either! :thumbs
  6. I may be mis informed, and very ready to admit it... I was lead to believe, by a few shooters, that a .308 is the 'sensible gun' for deer shooting. and that the legal minumum calibre is only slightly below this, (although I'm aware there is a difference between england and scotland). I'm not a gun geek, I will fail technical questions about calibres... as I say, not interested in the sport side, just want to hunt for food. From what I know about rim fires, they're only a slight upgrade from a good air rifle, and only good for rabbits and vermin. again, please correct if I'm wrong. We h
  7. I must have missed something somewhere then, I thought they all came with studs...take a look here, http://www.czub.cz/en/catalog/80-rimfire-rifles-cz.aspx it is easy to see that every one has studs except the Scout!! Cheers
  8. These are simply badged Leapers scopes, so look out for them as well, I have the same AGS 4-16x56 SWAT, got it from the Game Fair in about 2003 or 2004, very good optics, bright and clear, not the best at dialing in or holding zero though!! Happy enough just the same!!
  9. I seem to recall (it was a while ago now) my S5 was 660g, and the Compact IS 590g (don't believe the hype), the S5 hangs off the end of the barrel and The Compact is an over barrel version! It makes a lot of difference to the balance!! My S5 IS 600g and is 3 years old well used , don't think 60 g has fallen of it though . Says 580g on ASE site but is deffo not 660g. I have not got a compact but would look at one when my old T8 starts to show its age. Compact is shown as 540-570g on the site so allowing for their tollerance i would say 560-590g depending on caliber so the sma
  10. I have the CZ Silhouette in HMR, it comes with studs fitted, so to did my CZ Silhouette .22lr, and CZ American ,22WMR...and so did my lads CZ Style .22lr, so pretty much a full house!!
  11. I thought those PES were meant to be OK!! Don't know what makes it good and easy to shoot but with the 90/100g it is easy and with the 58g it is a pussy cat!! Mr L has used mine on several occasions and on the strength of that has just bought a Tikka!! Anyway, my club season starts soon, I'll be up at Bisley a bit in the weeks and months to come, you can't be all bad if you have a Tikka, give me a shout some time and we'll see what we can do!!
  12. You are absolutely correct with safety and annoyance, no arguement at all, but it isn't a Highway or you would not be able to shoot from a boat, assuming your boat is floating (and not in dry dock) then it doesn't matter what direction you shoot in you are shooting over water (highway by your definition). The only thing that could potentially cause a problem is the canal owners own rules or bylaws, there is absolutely nothing on the statute books that I am aware of, to stop you legally shooting over a canal!! I would be happy to learn something new if someone can show me such a law, he
  13. To the best of my knowledge the vast majority of synthetic stock rimfires and centrefire come with the swivels already fitted! However, there are swivel options available that fit, and bolt from the inside, specifically for synthetics, my lad got some a while back to fit swivels to his synthetic air rifle stock!!
  14. This is the thing, I have a T3 shortened to 20" and my current mod, which is 700g isn't helping on the balance front, one of a couple of reasons I want to get a lighter mod that so that my rifle doesn't feel like there is a bag of cement hanging on the end. This was the problem I had with my T3 Lite, the barrel is 19.5 inches now and it also has about 150g of lead fixed just inside the butt plate, the balance is the best of all my rifles now...just . My T3 Hunter is straight out of the box (but it is the new, shorter barrel, pre threaded version), the Compact went straight on it

  16. Why and where do you want to put a grub screw into a synthetic stock??
  17. Cabinets I can help with... http://www.djsproducts.com Those cabinets are a good price Yep...and if you want one give me a shout and I'll be able to save you a few ££££ more as well!!!
  18. Only if a car drove down it!!! Never heard a boat called a "Vehicle"! I stand to be corrected if someone can produce a different bit of legislation!
  19. good lad which one turned her?(persuasions). you can get a second hand shotgun cabinet quite cheap( £30-50) the application costs £40 i think. good luck and let us know how you get on £50..plus the stamps, plus the photos, plus the drink and the wild woman you have to bribe your referee with!! Cabinets I can help with... http://www.djsproducts.com
  20. There are no problems about shooting over water, a river, canal, stream, lake or the sea (the sea has some interesting rules of ownership so lets not go too far down that route), etc, etc, (assuming of course where your bullet/shot is going to land is still on your land, remember I said lets not go to the seaside) and you can certainly shoot from a boat. However, there are restrictions about shooting lead shot over waterways (NOT RIFLE BULLETS). No problem with Game Birds as such but there are lead issues again with waterfowl!! Obviously if the river, canal whatever had a towpath e
  21. Ok, Well went out last night to the same spots, tried the filter, and have to say it worked great! Yes they still know its there and eventually get spooked, but their eyes show up like anything, and if held on the edge of the beam will stay there for a good 30-40 seconds, More than good enough. Had 3 anyway at the same spot ive blanked twice. Well done, and it's all worth a try, but all you have done is shine a much reduced light intensity at them which is a bit red!! To be honest I don't think there is an answer here, use filters by all means and if you get a Dimm
  22. Don't forget to make sure you get the right Calibre Inserts, they are availlable in all these sizes, .17, 22, 243, 25, 27, 30 , 338, 375, 44. When I first got my .223 Wildcat P8 they had a much smaller selection of sizes, and I ended up with the .243 size, when they introduced the .22 size, and I heard the difference it made, I saved some more pennies and bought that, it does make it a bit quieter again, so I have quite a lot of spares for the P8 now!!!
  23. Quite heavy though I seem to remember, not that you'd notice it on your cannon they are not the lightest but there compact. i wouldnt swap for any other mod out there. those over barrel ones look like coke bottles ha ha I had the ASE S5 on my .223 to start with and it was the weight that made me dump it, certainly not the build or the sound suppression which was definately good, but the balance of the P8 COMPACT, being over the barrel rather than out front was definately better! But all my guns are "light", so it is difficult to get something that does not screw up the b
  24. I've got the full length wildcat and it really does make the rifle front heavy. Deker how much does it cost to get it converted to a compact model? Thanks Ben You would have to check with them... http://www.wildcatrifles.co.uk/ I think it cost me about £, but don't quote me, it must have been 18 months back. You need a new shorter sleeve, new shorter internal tube and probably a new bush if your barrel tapers.
