  1. Done 1000 yards a few times, last time I used a GB Squad members rifle and he was spotting. It was strangely easy, and just shows what is possible with the right equipment and help. It still looks a long way..... But with kit like this it helps...... That's my lot, done 600 yards at Bisley with the HMR, that was quite challenging, but a Mile or more as mentioned earlier gets tougher!
  2. Ok, bit of a new one to me, I now have 2 very good contacts about 20 miles apart in Normandy. I was there over last weekend. Both have the pigs running around and are happy for me to get involved and reduce their problems. I don't have any issues with general paperwork, European Firearms Passport, local permits etc. but anyone give me some idea of import issues back to the UK. Somehow I don't think the Ferry companies or UK authorities would be mad keen on me just bringing a few Boar home in the back in the Land Rover. What do I need to do this legally? Cheers
  3. Nope, I think you will find its a hangover from the old days of outward scoring in Top level competition. .177 is favoured for virtually ever type of competitive air shooting because the pellet is smaller and therefore likely to score fractions more. With changes in the way top competitions are scored these days, ie electronically, and commonly down to 0.1 (or more) of a point it isn't quite so important. However, with the lighter weight of .177 there is less likelihood of shooter/rifle movement upon firing, a tiny difference which will only show in very few cases but may still win a compe
  4. Cracked cases are quite common in HMR, the bullet getting stuck is far less common but it happens. Cracked cases are much more rare on the .22lr, primarily because they are not necked like the HMR. The only bullet I have ever had stuck in a barrel is a .22lr, I have also had several misfires with .22lr.
  5. They will not have a chance to develop any immunity if you keep the bait topped up, Bromadiolone, Difenacoum, Brodifacoum, etc are commonly used anticoagulants on rodents. In simple terms when they stop eating the bait they start getting better, it is important they ingest enough bait to kill them, so always keep the bait topped up, never let it run out. Immunity in some form to many "poisons" has been found in many areas, hence why there are numerous baits available, but use baits appropriately and there is no need to chop and change different types.
  6. As walshie says, Home Office Approved Clubs must have a minimum of 3 months probation, my club is Home Office but our probation is 6 months. It is very unlikely you will be granted a FAC for target work during your probation, so the sooner you have a chat with/join a club the better!
  7. "........I was also charged with failing to comply with terms of shotgun cert ( notify change of address)..........." As you say, its a long story and probably more than here as well, but as this was only 4-5 years back and you have had issues with a neighbour more recently, then as said on the other thread, I think that only your region will be able to answer your questions!
  8. I would echo walshie comments above, but being realistic, it is hardly an ideal background, where apparently there are previous issues of assault and non compliance with Firearms regs.
  9. I'm not following the logic of that if they apparently didn't for original grant, I guess this will be another, "its our policy" malarkey. Firearm security is your responsibility, there is no requirement to advise your region if you move/change the original or add additional cabinets.
  10. As long as you can justify it, but if you have been through a full 5 year FAC cycle and not filled a slot, you may have a job convincing your region you need to keep the slot.
  11. Our friends at Uttings have these, I'm new to them but like the side focus and general spec..... and the HMD reticle. http://www.uttings.c...4/#.VjHNZ8tOeUk http://www.uttings.c...6/#.VjHOR8tOeUk Has anyone got one, used one reviewed one etc., your opinions appreciated. Cheers
  12. My region always used to ask for the old ones back, but FAC or SGC, they don't want it anymore.! There a bit on the bottom of the renewal asking for it back here mate Mine used to, but as #5 above, they ask for a copy and don't want originals anymore, No doubt yet another example of each region having their own Policy!
  13. My region always used to ask for the old ones back, but FAC or SGC, they don't want it anymore.!
  14. Apply for .22lr and HMR and SGC then. Seems like you should be able to show reason for both on the FAC, and you don't have to fill the slots anyway, and don't forget to ask for a sound moderator for each at the same time.
  15. I would buy the Tikka every time over the 1500, but I'm struggling to see why you would want to change unless you are having a problem with it. There is nothing wrong with the Howa, and if its working, accurate and you are easy with it why change?
  16. Why not a coterminous FAC/SGC? As for calibres, what is your quarry/pest?
  17. If the calibre is applicable to either club, you don't need an "excuse", simply list it for Target! A 30-30 Underlever is not going to be many peoples first choice rifle for anything serious on the target front though, but if you are a club member you don't need to be that serious!
  18. Hi guys, I've just put a new battery in my Freelander 2 (2011) and the stop/start system doesn't work anymore, battery is brand new and I made sure it was fully charged before I fitted it. I am told this can often be the case, and reprogramming is required needing Hawkeye. Is this correct and does anyone have access to Hawkeye (or whatever system is required) to reprogram the motor please. I am obviously prepared to travel a bit for anyones kind assistance, but as close to Reading as possible would be great. Many thanks.
  19. I think it is VERY LEAST we can do to remember, and thank, many brave people who gave their lives, for our lives today.
  20. Look at the figure comparible to the one you have highlighted at 45 yards and compare it with your figure at 55 yards. Your 7.73" drop is the total drop since the pellet left the barrel, not the drop between 45-55 yards!
  21. The drop on your figures between 45 and 55 yards appears to be 2.67" with a 45 yard zero, not 7.73". 7.73" at 55 yards - 5.06" at 45 yards = 2.67"
  22. Crumbs, one post and gone it would seem!
  23. :hmm: Your OP said you were looking for land and could only do Sunday morning. Have you found land now and has your work pattern changed?
