  1. I liked him. Give me the old duke over Harry and Meghan any day of the week. RIP Phil.
  2. Thats incredible. I caught a 3/4 grown rabbit last week. Every single doe pregnant, nests and young uns everywhere I go.
  3. Maybe but the prices the debens are fetching at the moment is crazy, so definitely some market. Few people I have spoken to seem to think the bunny is slowly picking up a touch also ??
  4. What are peoples views on vaccine passports for something a simple as going to the pub? My view, for what it’s worth, is this used to be a free country with free choice as to what we did and what we put into our own bodies and that the power and control the government has taken from us is entirely disproportionate to the threat we have faced. Vaccination should be a personal choice and if the population are being forced into it I fear vaccination uptake may actually go down not up. Where do you stop also, first it’s stadiums then pubs how long before we can’t even go to the supermarket if we h
  5. Socks would have been annoyed to have missed that.....
  6. Your missing out Katc a good hob is an absolute joy to work, from what I hear about the dales they are even more useful up there. Get one this summer and give him a go.
  7. I had a similar experience, was low on adult working jills and saw one advertised turns out it was a pet home lady kept it in the kitchen in a tiny cage and fed her cat food. Only wanted £10 and felt almost duty bound to take her as felt so sorry for her kept like that she turned out to be one of, if not the best, worker I have ever owned. Twenty odd years ago and her blood still flows through my current workers. Whilst worker to worker breeding is preferred, obviously, I still think ferrets are still not ruined enough that most ferrets will work given the chance. The pet homes haven’t managed
  8. I have recently bought a very decent night vison spotter than will pick up a rabbit at a really decent range and what’s amazed me is I will enter a field and in the distance at the edge of the spotters range you will see rabbits already high tailing for the hedge. That’s just me having a look, no lights or even a dog on a slip. Some rabbits are almost impossible to lamp there gone before you even get close enough to see them!
  9. I actually reckon I would feel safer around the wolves than the boar! Heard those fuckers are brutal
  10. I would love to be able to see a wild wolf in this country but it’s completely unworkable in this country. Yes we have the deer (boy do we!) but we don’t have even close to wilderness that a wolf population would need to survive and thrive. Even in America they are having increased issues with wolves coming into contact with people as they have successfully looked to expand their range. Possibly a few spots in Scotland and the north you could have a very very small population but what happens when they start eating Mrs Jones cockatoo? Or worse little Timmy gets bitten? We don’t have areas like
  11. Are the two older hobs in season? Balls still on show? Only time I have known hobs fight is when the testosterone is up. If not occasionally they just need to assert a pecking order but it sounds like hormones rather than dominance to me.
  12. I have one I am happy to gift you but down in sussex so may be a bit far to come.
  13. I have one I would happily gift you but I am down in sussex...might be a bit far for you.
  14. Surprisingly he hasn’t really come across one, I don’t do a huge amount of lamping and day time they have successfully kept to themselves! Had some unfortunate incidents with other dogs since he got attacked completely unprovoked and now have issues with other male dogs he doesn’t know. Sort of issues where he piles in and throat holds them...Mrs no longer walks him off the lead. It’s a real problem, was good as gold but since he got attacked seems to have the attitude of pile in before they go at me. Dog that attacked him was twice his size and it ended up on its arse with the owner screaming
  15. Mainly round where I am it’s fallow and try as he might a full grown fallow is to much, he has managed the odd one that’s tripped or pushed it into a ditch but generally they kick him off. Keeps coming back for more though convinced one day he will get badly hurt. Can’t remember the last roe I saw round me but pretty sure a roe would be taken fairly easily but who knows! I would really rather he just gave up on deer full stop, kept thinking a good kicking will put him off but seems to just make him angry.
  16. 3 1/2, quite a decent size for a whippet but f**k me he will pile in on anything given a chance ??. Bought as a specialised rabbit dog, I blame the prick that trained him...
  17. I’ve always had the opposite problem! Buggers want to hunt everything wether they are allowed or not! Whippet that wants to try his luck on fallow stags is an emotional business!
  18. @cantona tried to message you but says can’t receive messages...
  19. I work a pure whippet i have spoken about him a fair bit in other threads but 100% quality rabbit dog seems impervious to cold, last weekend was charging through ice after rabbits in a -10 wind and just didn’t care (I very much did and gave up after a few frozen hours much to his disgust!). Will happily take on fallow deer despite my desperate attempts to break him to them. Downsides are he is very hard mouthed and can sometimes just do his own thing (like the deer) but I think my limited skills as a dog trainer are at fault rather than the dog.
  20. App on my phone said real feel -11 and it bloody felt like it!! Did an hour and half on Saturday and gave up ??
  21. I always find that tame parents breed tame offspring. I’ve had litters I’ve barley handled that we’re still pretty tame but nothing beats kits handled daily from a young age. Pair I’ve got I bred in the summer were excessively handled (lockdown f all else to do) and I honestly don’t think either has so much as nipped me and both work well, the hob will actually come when called when out ferreting if he is in the mood!
  22. How many you got there Trev? Hell of a haul ??????
  23. Can get mixi rabbits anytime of year, hopefully just because you’ve caught one doesn’t mean there will lots more.
  24. Good to hear Keith, what are you doing with no dog? Snares? Air rifle?
