  1. I think if you put your age down when answering this, you would have a group of over 40,s that grew up with nothing and had to fix it or you never had one, and a group of younger folk that have been brought up in an age were you just sling it and get a new one on tick, it was called make do or mend, when I was a boy, meaning you make do without it or you mend it, I was given two bits of advice by my old man, one was if it has tits or wheels it will cost you and the other was if its broke you can't break it again
  2. can't see a link or a post by shook or any pics mate ?
  3. that's the whole thing, will someone come along that actually new him and worked dogs with him, he got away with his bullshit until proper dog men like David harcombe came along and started putting pen to paper, his terriers were bred for there appearance, it was just luck that most terriers back in the day were game, he new that a breed of terrier with his name on and a few books of bullshit would be a cash cow, but is there anyone who is alive today that can honestly say they new him and actually done some proper work with him, bearing in mind when his original books came out everything was l
  4. he,s having an X-ray to see if he got a days work in him the wanker

  6. the dog was called merle, I think Plummer at the time was still a school teacher, and it was probably one fox and many photos, Plummer sold a whole story that was based on total fabrication,he was simply an author with a good imagination, here,s a question, there are still a few old boys left, like my self, who were out there doing it in the days when Plummer first arrived on the scene, but did anyone ever see him work dogs or go out with him for a nights lamping or an epic rat hunt, be really interesting if anyone could vouch for anything he said,
  7. i,d ask YouTube. Mate I bet there are videos of people doing it
  8. I find it funny that people are shocked by this, both Hancock and Plummer were a pair of bullshitters back in the day, who never done any real work, those same old chicken sheds that are full of ex racing grews are the same sheds Plummer and his alleged pack of Plummer terriers used to pose next to when he was claiming he killed thousands of rats a night, he then went on to tell the world that if you got a collie X lurcher, it would not only fill your freezer but pay your mortgage and carry your suit case to the airport when you needed a break, the entire Plummer/Hancock legacy is a massive pa
  9. never owned one myself, but I know that in the states they were big and the after market is alive with bolt on bits for them even seen a few taken up to rifle spec so I would say yes to your question also they are around 6ft lb standard from new and they say you only need 2ft lb of energy at point of impact to kill a rabbit so for dispatching things in traps you should be fine
  10. the only way to tame these beasts is to boycott your local kebab van,
  11. here,s one I done for someone a while ago, the simplest way to give it a go is to get a metal key ring/split ring and two elastic bands, just wrap the bands around the forks with the ring in the centre and thread your arrow through it
  12. what he said, if that's to much trouble, stick a sheet of cardboard between the grill and rad, the reason it got warm when you jump started the wife's car is because there was know cold air going through the rad fins, I actually have a leather grill cover on my landrover that I have to open and close depending on the temp outside for this reason
  13. My son has been my permanent partner since he could walk, fishing, shooting even working so most people who know me know he comes as part of the package,as a toddler he used to sleep in my unhooking mat in the back of my bivvie right through the winter, he,s 23 now and goes off on his own to any of my perms as and when he wants, he actually spends more time with some of my mates than I do as I get a bit older and softer, so it's something I,ve never given any thought to really and just assumed he would carry on
  14. I use both but slowly I,m moving more of my catty,s over to the 1745 tubes,as it lasts much longer and by adjusting the loop size you can alter the size and weight of ammo you use
  15. This is how I attach mine, the full loops on the left throw 12mm leads and will stop any legitimate quarry in its tracks, my favourite style is the middle one with one third loops, I use this for target and pigeons with 10mm steel it's fast and accurate and not such an animal as the first, the last one is just a single with a sleeve more of a target rig but would still bag pigeons with a headshot at close range i can also do flats in whatever tapers you want, I tend to use them mostly 25/20 or 30/25 tapered depending on forks cheers
  16. if you fancy a bit of that, check out chief aj, he shoots wild boar, deer and his claim to fame a grizzly bear with his slingbows, I have made a few from Barnet cattys quite easy to do and pretty deadly,

    Hs2.

It's a total shambles, it's already been going on for years with millions spent and not a shovel of earth moved, just to put it into perspective, isambard kingdom Brunel took six years to build the great western railway network, from idea to completion and that was pre digger and dumper days, another massive cash cow that seems to have unlimited funding for unaccountable ass wipes to do with as they please, I doubt it will ever be finished,
  18. getting full power is easy, but getting useful power is another story, it can be done but will cost you more time and money than the gun is worth so unless it has a special place in your heart I would sell it and buy a full power springer like an hw80 or an air arms, the reason these make good full power rifles is due to there weight absorbing much of the recoil, there are very few small full powered springers that are nice to use without some tuning, the bsa Lightning is a typical example
  19. When you cut the bands use a clamp to hold the ruler on the flatband and pull the cutter back towards you in one smooth action, I personally like 10mm leads as you can use the same bands as you do with 9.5 steel I do use 12mm leads but these use a slightly heavier band set
  20. . I have some 1745 natural latex tube, I find it simular to tbg flat bands but lasts a lot longer, let me know if that's any good and I can get a few sets knocked up, I normally sell them for a tenner for three sets, can also mix them up so you get a set of flats and two tubes or two flats and a set of tubes,
  21. lovely work again mate, have you got it banded and fired it yet ?
  22. If you can get the person in America to write gift on the packet you should not get charged any import duty,
  23. Skin pheasant and pigeon pluck goose and duck that's me
  24. Just seen on the weather -3 for Monday night, now that's getting there, here is one for the berry watchers, I like to pick wild berry,s like sloes, blackberries, rose hips and hawthorns etc, so I do pay more attention than most and if you look it's a really good year for berry,s that are red but shite for anything purple, few sloes, rubbish black berrys etc so what the feck weather does that indicate ???
  25. I just bought a cheap roller cutter off eBay for around a fiver and do the same with the tbg, I cut quite a lot as I sell a few sets plus I,m the only one among my mate that makes band sets so I,m forever cutting for them as well and my current cutter is still going strong after nearly two years of use i just bought one off amazon,, and a cutting mat for £8.00 both were half price sweet
