  1. the answer to your question is a desensitised person brought up in an environment were pain and violence are a daily occurrence, until it becomes perfectly normal, like your dad coming home from the pub and beating your mother in front of you on an almost daily basis, and your mother beating you senseless with whatever is to hand, because that's how her life has been, until in the end you think it's perfectly normal to smash some ones head in with a hammer over a trivial row, it's a chain of events that lead to a catastrophic outcome, and may take several generations to reach its conclusion, m
  2. I,m a bit of an old boy when it comes down to firing my catty, and have had one in my pocket for around 40years, so I don't personally get fork or hand hits as it's just second nature to me, but I do make a few cattys for mates plus I sell a few to fund my habit, I also keep a couple of loaners which I let people use if they want a try on a catty, these two cattys that I lend out are covered in fork hits and every time someone has a go for the first time they add a few more, so I don't think you are alone in that, I have also seen a few of those new ally gamekeeper John cattys that look like t
  3. I,m not a live fire person, but I do have a few mates with tickets, and most of them have moved away from 22lr onto 17hmr and recon it's much better, less riquochetes and cheaper to feed, have,nt heard of anyone going hmr to 22lr so maybe that's worth a look for what you want
  4. the dog will make it hard to stalk, but other than that wind on your face, not your back,
  5. also has around 87 percent of the population voting for him, something that the spineless, private school, dicks running our country could only dream of, makes you wonder sometimes, who is the bad guy really?
  6. well said that man, here,s a little question, as my name implies I,m not a very social person and spend a lot of my outdoor time alone, a few close mates when fishing, but just me and my dogs, when out mooching, I find other people's company just detracts from the things I see and hear when I,m out, and in nearly 40 years, I have never had permission, but have never really had any hassle either, I stop and say hello to the farmers I meet on my travels, and if I,m asked what I'm doing there just say I,ve lost the footpath I was on, usually I see or hear other people a long time before they see
  7. I was looking at the bulk purchase to buy a few metres at a time just thought it would be easier to buy from the UK or EU postage and import duty etc etc Thanks for the reply! I have seen it on eBay for sale, be interested to hear how it goes, was thinking of trying it myself, as it's meant to last longer and travel faster than tbg and I'm getting a bit bored of replacing bands on my flatband shooters,
  8. Like the sound of some of these, are they the same method as sloe gin, fruit, sugar and vodka and leave for a few months? So these will be ready for the cold weather in a hip flask,do you beat or are they for when your out and about? Also,i can't remember if I've asked before but which gin do you do sloe with, cheap or not? Don't want to wait only to have it come out awful! And when you say cheap vodka, how cheap is cheap cus I'll look at knocking up a batch of one of these... . I make sloe vodka every winter, excactly the same as sloe gin, but vodka from aldi a tenner a litre instead of gin, jo
  9. . The Beavers were released in Scotland, there is a scheme in Devon to release them though they are still being held in captivity I think, and another mystery family of wild beaver have been seen on the river otter in Devon though know one seems to know were they came from, and they are thought to be the first wild breeding beavers for 500 years in the uk, so unless they have a car or swim much faster than suspected, I have not got a scubie doo how they have appeared in the middle of the Cotswolds,
  10. . I have some pics of a wild beaver, taken on the Cotswolds a few years back, which is quite amazing as they don't exist either, I will try and get them across to my iPad so I can stick em up if anyone is interested, and know it's not just some fat bird from Gloucester with her growler out, it's a real life wild beaver, Get them up this have a look give me 24hrs I,m not at all techie and they are on an old phone,

  12. I think that counts as an endorsement
  13. . When I was a younger man that was known as a walleye, because it's also found in horses and was thought to be a blindeye, you stood the white eye against the wall when trying to sell the animal in the hope the purchaser would not notice, hence the name walleye, I believe Bowie,s different coloured eye was caused by an accident in his youth, that's about it for my eye facts cheers,
  14. Hi Nathan and welcome, afraid I,m busy that weekend, don't know if you are anything to do with the ukca or John Webb, but may I just make a little suggestion, there are hundreds of old b*****ds like myself, with years of catty shooting experience, but zero computer experience, and as long as I have a hole in my ass I will never go on Facebook, so if you wish to involve more people and spread your wings a little wider, may I suggest you get a web page, or even a small section on an existing site like this, have a great weekend
  15. . I love that vid, nature is better than anything, produced in film, that's awesome, I did know a guy many moons ago that had a sparrow hawk trained solely on magpies, he used black and white lures for its training, until it was a regular magpie catcher, which was brilliant until he turned up one day on one of his perms and the owner opened the front door to let his black and white cat out, needless to say the perm and the cat were both lost
  16. I own an old bsa Mercury, that I have totally stripped and rebuilt myself, I honed the cylinder, made a ptfe piston head, Spring guide and top hat, plus new spring, but one of the best little tweaks I made was to drill out the port from inside the cylinder with a tapered bit, before it was just a 2mm hole from piston chamber through to the pellet, now it's around 5 mill in the cylinder tapering down to 3mm on he breach side, I don't think people like this to be known because it increases the power as well,,I had to remove five coils from the spring to bring it back to 11.5 ft lb but it's as sm
  17. while I,ve got my pinny on, a quick and easy bbq sauce consists of good old tomato ketchup, with a teaspoon of smoked paprika, tastes as good as anything you buy at a fraction of the cost, Mary berry over and out
  18. Anything I,m unsure of in the cooking department, normally goes in the slow cooker for 12 hrs with a bottle of cheap red wine, I,ve yet to have anything cooked this way that was not lovely, the main problem with eating what you shoot is not knowing how old it is, so a six month old pigeon may be lovely and succulent but looks the same as a two year old that's as tough as old boots, but 12 hrs in the slow cooker and they are both as soft and juicy as each other, plus I'm not a fan of hanging my game till it's almost rotten, so the slow cooker removes this issue as well, so all venison, pheasant,
  19. I think my mums front door would drop the pair of em, he's just a fat lad in a vest, maybe that's why he punch,s himself in the face, it's the only time he connects
