  1. Well done that man. If you need to impress him with high activity and some banging going on so he thinks it is all going well, take a friend with a shotgun and set out the deeks and go for it. If you don't know anyone Jamie, I will come down and you can use my gun or one of them. I have loads of land to shoot so not trying to worm my way in mate but you might at some stage want to give it a try, if you do, give me a shout. Apply for a shotgun certificate mate then you are geared for most things and a FAC Air ticket is well worth having. Phil
  2. I totally agree UD. The modded .410 has it's place in the hunting world and I am going to buy one for potting pigeon coming in to roost on a new perm which is close to houses so a quiet gun is the order of the day. Many years ago as a young man, I used to go up to Perthshire on the Tay goose shooting each year. There was an old chap, a local, who we used to see on many trips who used a sxs .410 on the geese !!!!! I only once took the p1ss out of the little .410 until I actually saw him bringing down the geese and quite a few of them, total respect both to him and that little gun.
  3. I think you will find that their reputation on here is second to non, I have not dealt with them (yet) but heard many a comment from guys on here that have dealt with them and only good things have been written. Phil
  4. It could well be that the Grizzly pellets I used didn't suit my Impact barrel as it is not a liner barrel but if these things are so good, perhaps a new barrel will be in order but I am guessing the newer barrels are quite a bit higher cost than mine. Talking of FX but off topic boys, they have bought the company that is making the bulk mags and will be part of the FX line up soon, also I understand a better price than is available at present so time to keep an eye on FX news. Phil
  5. My envy at your chicken shed runs into a very strong shade of green. You could give the Bentley a run up the M5/ M1 and stay overnight in Harrogate and join us at the show Mitch, you could also join Si and Jimmy in taking a wager as to which bright coloured polo shirt I will be wearing, I know there are some sad buggers around the north. ?? Phil
  6. I read this yesterday. Again a celebrity promoting something they have absolutely no idea of the consequence of their action. These fools get money donated by good people who are totally in the dark when it comes to rural matters which is also the case of our current Prime Minister in her action taken last year for councils of the UK to send a letter to ALL landowners of more than 6 acres to offer land for building on should they wish to do so. This has in my village alone caused a big issue and now have more than 16 greedy landowners offering land up to build on. HOW TO FCUK UP OUR RURAL
  7. Two things here:- Mitch, I know it's full of Northerners, that why it's so good so don't let southern envy creep in here ?? Secondly, I am really looking forward to having a close up on these Pard systems Sean for when my eye gets sorted and may well go that route. That is a surprise about the 355 Sean because as you say we were both impressed when we looked at them at the Doncaster show last year, really surprised. I had my first look through a Pulsar thermal spotter the other night, I cant remember which one it was but recall it is something like a Q 38 but whatever it was
  8. The other night while out shooting I bumped I to a guy on one of the little country lanes looking into the fields, I stopped the car to see what was going on as it was next to my perm and he had a Pulsar ???38, sorry can't remember what the prefix letters were but it doesn't matter, what does matter is that he passed the spotter to me...................wow, what a game changer. I watched Charlie working his way up the edge of the field while the chap grabbed his rifle ready but sadly the fox had other plans and buggered off through the hedge. This was the first time I have looked through
  9. On don't misunderstand Pav, I am not saying these Pard type of units are no good, to the contrary as I said I have zero experience with this type of add on system just my logic saying I would have thought there is a compromise in head position. As the saying goes, every day is a school day, always something new to learn which is why I am going to look at some other NV kit at the Northern Shooting Show. Just seen Si's response so no doubt I will have a look at his when I go over. Phil
  10. Just one other point here, firstly I need to say I have NO experience of even trying the Pard, Ward type of add-on BUT my concern is that my logic tells me that a non screen NV strongly suggests a compromise in scope position. If a perfectly positioned day scope that fits you at optimum viewing for all daytime shooting then surely by sticking a 'view through' add-on to the rear of the scope must put your head out of normal shooting position on the stock. I am assuming eye relief on Pard type units is the same as the day scope OR is the eye relief on these units almost zero therefore
  11. Yes I knew you would comment on this Mitch and it just shows how we all like different systems and features. I must confess that Sean pointed out the Pulsar 355 at last year's South Yorkshire Game fair which really impressed me but at the moment until my master eye is sorted, I couldn't use one. In my limited viewing of the Pulsar and ATN, my money would be on the 355 every day of the week. Have a look at as many as you can before you splash the cash. Phil
  12. It depends if you want close eye viewing or mini screen viewing. I have a couple of Nitesite units which allow me to view quarry with both eyes open which suits me. When I tried a close eye unit, I felt a little unbalanced when I moved away from the NV but that's me. Phil
  13. One thing Cobra , both the ATN and Nitesite use a screen just the ATN is close to your eye. Both are pixelated and I favour the Nitesite who h is a far better image imo but not everyone's cup of tea. I have both Nitesite Viper and Wolf and I would not be without them. Phil
  14. Going to have a serious look at them at the Northern Shooting Show as Scot Country are there. Phil
  15. I used to use one many years ago but by far prefer my leather cartridge pouch that goes on any belt. Apart from a box of shells I keep ear p!ugs, car keys, smokes etc etc in the second pouch section. Phil
  16. There are quite a few lads using the ATN-X site on other forums but I think it fair to say there are as many people dislike them as like them. If I recall they are very power hungry, range finder really designed for larger quarry as very very difficult to work out range for a rabbit or even worse a bird. The time lag is slow compared to other systems and most say it is a cracking day scope but not a good night scope. I think there were some other points but I can't remember at present. Are you thinking of buying one of already have one. Phil
  17. I have to agree so far Fields produce The best groups. This summer my eye should be completely sorted and we have now a perm in a tree lined quarry so longer range shooting out of the wind should be a regular pastime. I have already produced 25 A4 size target holders so I can set out a string of targets at different distances. I also bought a spotting scope (similar to a telescope for bird watching) so it will be easier to read results at 100mts. Phil
  18. Sorry can't help there but recall my friend saying it was straightforward once you have the method sorted. I can't ask him for you as he moved away. Phil
  19. A friend of mine fitted a huma reg in his Scorpion which he bought from XTX along with a special tool to do the job. I know bugger all regarding this subject,................and most subjects when I think about it BUT you can get 'how to' on YouTube but a few rather clever members on here will offer good advice soon. Phil
  20. They are in my opinion, H&N Sport Grizzly with a new name, quite likely because Grizzly pellets are utter sh1te. From what he said, they know the Grizzly was lacking but I am taking some up for our So to test in his Impact and interestingly they are looking at these slugs in the 50-100mts so perhaps I will test again at 100mts and see if there is an improvement. Phil
  21. It's a Bisley pad Mitch from eBay under £20. You order either shotgun or rifle version so if you are getting one check it is the correct shape pad.
  22. Good little scopes, I have had one although now silly price. Phil
  23. I have been looking through the new Weihrauch catalogue and the HW 30 is not listed as a lower fpe as I was always under the impression they were 6fpe. Can anyone say for sure what power these rifles are set at. Still fancy an HW57 though. Phil
  24. Yes I breeze in there from time to time, I think I it was there that I saw the test on the 'air shotgun' ....................that was fun. Phil
