  1. Nice write up mate. You've got it mate you used your instinct you new those large holes weren't right as Jok said sounds like Badgers. Try putting the collar on when she's not being worked leave her in her run with it on. As Tomo said try the collar close to her shoulders. Well done and happy hunting. Cheers Arry
  2. Colin met up with bob merrin and he gave colin some nets plus the multi coloured one lol we did have 3 rabbits in it though Love it mate nobody can nick that one by mistake. Recon it was made up to give you all a laugh. Cheers Arry
  3. Nice bit of rabbiting that mate. Well done. That one psychedelic net in that first shot. Cheers Arry
  4. Sorry boys I'm on the same thinking as Vin on this one. Cheers Arry
  5. Looks like a cracking day out with nice bit of weather. Well done nice pics. Cheers Arry
  6. It's a east wind we don't like an old saying (When the wind is in the East the rabbit's bolt the least) also heard it applied to fishing. Also found some times especially with hobs and large gills in their third year they start to kill more, I think maybe they get smarter and a bit heavier so can hold the rabbits back. Tuesday they would not bolt, same ground we have been doing for about three week with no problems. There was a strong North Easterly but really no difference and we were using long net and run nets instead of cutting in. Cheers Arry
  7. Yea I get a bit green with envy when I see open ground country side and high numbers while I sit here picking black thorns out my hands with tweezers and a magnifying glass after a day out. Having a day with the ferrets and a good mate plenty of banter and taking the piss out of each other (the craig) a good bag makes it more worth while of course, struggled today only getting three where we have been averaging ten. Well done mate Good hunting. Cheers Arry
  8. Good footage mate, they work really well together. Cheers Arry
  9. Good to see somebody can find good numbers. Never had numbers like that well done. Cheers Arry
  10. With you on that Doug just nice to be out there. Nice pictures again, well done. Cheers Arry
  11. No mate if the rat were to run down the wall cavity the ferret might follow how you going to get it back, I'm sure most ferrets would be okay bolting a rat, but thats it I think it will bolt and run around or run into the wall. I'd use a squirrel live trap or similar or big nipper style traps. Cheers Arry
  12. Its off the on/off switch mate, it may still work but it will not switch off and the battery will run down. Think it will need a new switch, there on ebay if you know some body who can solder. But as above Jim is your best bet for repair, lads really rate him and his prices are very good. Have a look in calibrating Mk1 posts at top top for his details and web site. Cheers Arry

Do the carpet blades work well then? Cheers Arry

    Knifes

I like the Opinel as well, which i also drilled a hole in the handle tied a bit of draw cored to a cheap carabiner and clip to my belt loop, handy being wooden handle. Just got to remember to close the blade after legging a rabbit or gutting, couple of time found it hanging by the string still open. Cheers Arry

Been doing it a while now mate over fifty years, but if something come along that make the job easier i'm up for trying it. Thanks for answering just curious really, sounds like to much faffing around, Didn't want to buy one just to try. Cheers Arry
  16. I was curious about this as well. I aways had small terrier types so we got them to sit behind the entrance holes or to one side. Still they did bolt well. Cheers Arry
  17. Guys, i'm wondering if any of you have tried these hooked gutting knifes are they any good for paunching rabbits ? I've got all sorts of knifes, but never try these hook type are they mainly for deer ? Cheers Arry
  18. Takes me back that, taking the young ones out and them wondering of to puddles etc. Well done mate. Cheers Arry
  19. Good advice there, say no more. You have the feel, you will know trust your feelings. Cheers Arry
  20. Nice bit of footage there mate. Especially being able to see them long runs. Cheers Arry
  21. Thats really unlucky for that to happen mate I've never heard of that, feel for you no matter what you do you always get attached to your own ferrets. As kids we used to block all the hole we could and drop the ferrets in the last layer of bails in a barn or a hay stack and stand back with terriers, they used to fly out. Cheers Arry
  22. It does seem a bit weird this year. I think its down to a mixture of Myxi , RHD and RHD2. Its very patchy, 3 trips around one field to get 45 yet 2 fields away nothing at all. Some farms theres none on one side and there fair numbers on the other. Have you seen any dead rabbits that look like they have just dropped dead with maybe blood coming from their nose or ears ? Cheers Arry
  23. Love the first photo the expression is priceless. Great idea, think i'll buy the wife a ferret may be a couple of fishing reels the list is endless. Then if she don't use them well I could put them to good use. lol Cheers Arry
  24. Some of you guy have some cracking ground to hunt on, that is some view. Good to be out there on a day like that, long walk back carrying though. Cheers Arry
  25. Green with envy at the ground mate, mostly hedges for us. Just nice to be out there some times and catch a few is a bonus. Cheers Arry
