You are so right what you and the Forest of Dean say But ..when I was a young'en i used to borrow a odd spotted bass or a pheasant that fell out of a tree it was to help feed the family, its how i was brought up. But when I was about 12 i was so excited to get up first light even wade out in the sea to see what was on the the line we set the night before when the tides were right, over fifty years ago now. Also theres the outwitting the game keepers and bailiffs, sometime i think that was half the fun, never done it for profit just for the pot. Cheers Arry

i give mine milky water and it doesn't seem to do them any harm. how can they be lactose intolerant when there reared on milk from there mum.? Now that made me chuckle. explain then smart arse.i just had a quick look on the internet and small amounts of cows milk it won't do any harm. I don't think Vin was being a smart ass mate, just saying this site can put you right with all the knowledge that can be gained by pooling all are knowledge gained over many years. Nobody is putting any body down just trying to help, and saying what you once thought was right may not be so. Wh

Don't give him that..ferrets are lactose intolerant ...of course it will go straight through them. Hope he pulls through for you fella... I value my little stinkers as equals to my dogs as they are the main providers of sport for them. I don't know anyone who would pay £250 to get one sorted at the vets though But I can assure you,I would if it was one of mine...but I would deffo do my homework 1st and then double check the vet is actually experienced in ferrets and their diseases etc etc. i give mine milky water and it doesn't seem to do them any harm. how can they be lactose

Mixing Non Neutered Hob With Natured Jill And Natured Hob.
Arry replied to ferretingnewbie's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Keep at it mate, maybe try little strips of meat by hand in the run and make her sit up to beg for it. Trying to get her to associate you with the food supply. It works for kits but i've never tried it on a wild adult. Cheers Arry -
Have a look on this site mate. http://ferretinfo.co.uk/#/feeding-sick-ferrets/4575595790 then go to ferret illnesses at the top of the page mate. Hope he pulls through. atb Cheers Arry

Used to put a line across the beach bury a house brick with a line on it stretch it across the beach and bury another house brick on the other end over night. While staying in chalets on the cliff at White sands Cornwall when I was a kid Place,Turbot and Bass I loved it. Cheers Arry

All this talk reminds me of fond memories of borrowing them spotted Bass from the moors in mid December many years ago now when they used to run while out supposedly lamping rabbits. Cheers Arry

Repairing Plastic On Mk1 Collar ( Transmitter Casing)
Arry replied to maxwell's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
If its broken right off I would glue a new collar on then wrap tape around it don't drill or screw into the resin as there are very find wires inside. I broke a duff one apart, you would have a hard job fixing a duff one as the wires are moulded into the resin. Cheers Arry -
I think its a primeval thing in some of us if we are not out with the ferrets its fishing or shooting its in us, its in our soul. Unfortunately taught my youngest lad nearly every thing I knew lost him to a RTA when he was 19 my ferreting mate fishing mate best mate. Not over it but learnt how to live with it now. Cheers Arry

Don't worry mate, every now and again you get them. On one perm the rabbits are loaded with fleas and there is another where we get ticks. Just treat the ferrets with Frontline ever three months no probs. atb. Cheers Arry
-
Mate first treat ferret with frontline or spot on, I prefer Frontline myself. Then clean out every think from hutch bedding etc, i would burn the bedding myself. I use a wallpaper steam wallpaper stripper without the plate just the hose to clean corners of the hutch, but boiling water or a blow lamp as another lad suggested in post on cleaning hutch. Read pinned post by Rake About Ticks. atb Cheers Arry

Fishing Rods.....the Range?
Arry replied to Neobliviscaris1776's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
If you want to float fish or use spinners then a 9 to 10 foot spinning rod 10 to 60 gm casting weight (could also be used for spinning for Bass) with spinning reel,. If you want to use Mackerel feathers then a fixed spool beach caster 4 to 6 oz casting with a large fixed spool reel loaded with 18 lb line and shock leader say 45 lb or 50 lb. Good luck. Cheers Arry -
The Mullet are great sport - I caught a few on the fly a few years back Try free line Sprat fillet they love them, stitch the fillet up the trace then put two finger on the trace the higher side and pull down to ball on the hook, unless you are up a river in brackish water then bread flake. Cheers Arry
