Yes very true. Basing it upon the fact that wilf is mostly referring to European troops when seen on the ground in Europe during various ‘troubles’. In those kinds of situation identity hiding isn’t a bad thing. Hence our armed police wear them, and the sas started wearing them in the 80s when they started carrying out tactical attacks. And obviously there’s the fear factor when you can’t see faces people are less human.

Tbf a lot of the new Royal Marines marketing pics show face coverings. They’re really selling the ‘cool’ new commando look, but I dunno how standard it is exactly.
