If the malinios is brought up in a situation and environment based around training it to be an attack dog then that's going to be a different dog than one that's only 50% or less malinois blood brought up in a well socialised environment and taught not to hang out of people. They are intelligent dogs and know what they can and can't do. As for been in the wrong hands and the dog been isolated then try getting in beside the collie in the tractor of a farmer who lives in the mountain on his own and comes to town once a week for his shopping and him or the dog sees nobody in between.There is nothing safe about them cuddly collies when reared wrong.

Maybe I have missed the point so excuse me if it's a silly question, by "drive" I take it you men aggression towards live quarry and a desire to master that quarry, but why would Mal or Beddy be the first thing that springs to mind?

Experimenting with all kinds of questionable breeds does no favours to any one or the dogs them selves. Unknown crosses ending up in the hands of inexperienced owners are accidents waiting to happen, Dogs from breeds used for similar purposes are far more likely to gel and click than something cobbled together because it looks the part or looks like a status symbol on a big chain. The pounds are full of failed experiments even dogs from similar lines are no guarantee , tried and time tested usually gives desired results and that after years of study and graft .

Totally different temperaments

I've never seen bull crosses destroyed as they physically cannot handle change of ownership

I wouldn't like to see a mal cross after a year and a half of rudimentary training and two walks a day

i dont really know what ur trying to say,is it ur saying that dutch and maile crosses cant handle the change of ownership.if so i never meintioned that.

Sorry just seen this , not sure what mals etc people have or what wonderous skills they own at training but 3 times I have seen dogs being shot for being man biters or untrustworthy around new handlers

Each one was a pure bred mal and these were not isolated occurrences , they are put down a lot more regular than you would believe,

Personally I think adding a breed Like to the lurcher roundabout is a ticking bomb

I can't understand what "drive" a dog needs to master a rabbit or any other non biting critter ?..........if any dog decides to pick and chose its runs when sent to its quarry then it's a wanker plain and simple......the only thing you need to add to that is some lead.

 

If you are talking about quarry with teeth that's capable of giving some back then I'm afraid nobody ever took a Beddy , a collie or a Mal to the scratch line.

 

I just don't really understand the question........as Desertbred said, there are tried and tested things out there.......why piss about for the sake of pissing about just because you have an emotional attachment to old Gip or Tess or Fido or whatever ?

Just to add, if anyone thinks that a human aggressive dog equates to bottle when faced with another creature that is proving a test then they are, imho, talking bollocks I'm afraid.

 

The dog with the biggest heart I ever saw was a little 13lb animal that would throw itself into the fray to the point of death with critters 4 times its size......that dog never once curled a lip to a human being or even another dog......even when being patched.

 

Man aggressive dogs are curs in my limited experience when faced with another big set of teeth.

Had a Beddy Greyhound,great at catching bunnies,stalked worse than any collie x I've ever seen,even on Roe,yapped when overmatched on hares,retrieved her catch to within a few feet then spat out her prize only to watch it run away!! Had another that was a brilliant rabbiter only about 22 tts,retrieved straight to hand & everything was dead & munched to pulp,not much went to the game dealer anyways,would run through fire to make a catch..I've seen & owned two different types,they maybe looked similar but that was it..One had the heart of the Tinman off the Wizard of Oz lol the other was a little demon of a dog ?
