  1. Since when can't you get Sea legs any more ... I've got some here that I use for the lurcher. I told the chemist it was for my son, who weighs around the same or a bit less than the lurcher. I give her a full dose the night before we travel. They work a treat. I don't have a car, so my dogs don't have the chance to get into one regularly to get used to it. The whippet is no problem at all, car/train/bus whatever he's a good traveller. The terrier is the same. The lurcher, however, spews and drools like a trooper - and she's nearly 4. And most of the pups from both litters off her dam were
  2. I don't support mass immigration or membership in the EU. But since I don't support calling people names, judging all by a few, ignorance, double standards, bullying and idiocy, I don't support the BNP either.
  3. If I were to go by mine I'd say it goes on who's got more sense. I've seen the lurcher run smack into trees full speed, tear herself open on barb etc. She's got more heart - but definitely less brains.
  4. My big 4 year old bitch - 26" or thereabouts - is covered in scars, had plenty of gashes/tears/sprains/strains etc. Can't take her anywhere, she's guaranteed to injure herself in some way. She's mental. The whippet, who is 2 1/2yrs old, nicked the tip of his ear flushing bunnies from the cover this week. And that's about it I call him the Teflon Frankenwhippet 'cause he never really gets hurt and he's 22.5" of love
  5. Grand thread, this. Sometimes I just come on it, pick a random page and click on the music links. Found some really cool stuff, some really shit stuff ... and some stuff I'd totally forgotten I liked. Should be pinned, this one
  6. It's so unfair, making sweeping generalisations about people. I had some Romanys come and cut my hedges for me - nice fellas, very polite. I enjoyed their banter and treated them decently because they treated me the same. Met loads of folks up at appleby who were certainly worthy of passing a few minutes chatting. There's plenty of people I wouldn't trust further than I could spit, who are as clatty as they come and who'd steal your skin if they could get away with it. They live on estates round here and they're not travellers. I take folks as I find them. I've been on the receivin
  7. I got my little terrier there ..... I did see one brindle and white rough lurcher pup being toted around but most of the dogs on display were little handbag types.
  8. What kind of pup, and why do you want to know.....?
  9. Cor but you lot are a right bunch of wankers ...
  10. Wind has increased steadily here for about 2 hours now. Feels like the house is going to blow away soon ... think I might not put the dogs out in the kennel tonight
  11. The only thing wrong with the last couple of winters was the inability this country had to cope with basics like salting and clearing roads; and when are the English going to appreciate the value of snow tires or all weather radials? Winter last year was ace if you ask me But it would be nice if folks would learn how to drive in it so life could go on as it should do
  12. The shin scrape isn't as effective if you're not wearing flip flops
  13. That guy mustn't be much of a hunter, coursing squirrels in July .....
  14. I tasted a bit of one, it wasn't fabulous but it wasn't awful either. Is there anything useful to be done with them Moll?
  15. Found an apple tree out on my wanderings, but I'm just not sure what type they are, or if they're good for eating or baking. Can anyone tell me please?
  16. There's a lot of young lads round me with lurchers. Mostly, tho, it's good to see them out and about with the dogs. Some of them don't come from the best circumstances but they show a great deal of care for their dogs. Others sadly don't care much for their dogs at all, have no interest in learning about animal management and training, respect for the countryside and quarry, or what makes a good dog good. A lot of them do it because they like to kill things which I find deeply disturbing. It's not just young kids tho. I know a woman with an Akita cross who said she wanted to have a litter
  17. Thanks for the comments folks ... Moll he's slightly more in proportion but not really. Bless him, he's always going to be long and low I think He does have an interesting colour/coat to him. It's changed so much since I got him. This was the day I brought him home The colour and texture is completely different now - and he's got an upsidedown heart shape on his butt over the last couple of weeks. What's that all about?! I keep forgetting he's only 3.5 months old and will change still more over the coming months. Little bugger that he is!
  18. My whippet only paddles But the lurcher likes a good swim when it's hot http://s874.photobucket.com/albums/ab304/lurchergrrl/Aug%2011/?action=view&current=video-2011-08-05-14-00-53.mp4
