  1. I second that whole heartedly Jim is ace - he knows dogs, and more importantly he knows people. He helped with a dog I fostered once - it had severe separation anxiety and it barked, constantly, for everything. Jim helped me sort that out, and within 24 hours the barking was under control. He really is excellent. With regards to the food aggression: I too am not of the mind that taking a food away teaches the dog to respect you. If it feels threatened when you're near it's food it's going to kick off if it thinks you'll take it; that behaviour will just continue to escalate, ie the dog le
  2. You'll have to spend a deal of time at training her before you walk/ride around the countryside with her off the lead. Get a long line, walk her through the sheep as much as you can. Correct her when she shows any interest or so much as looks at them. Sometimes you have to be, erm, very firm with them. Now she's chased one, she'll chase again. Be very careful. If you're not sure what to do seek professional training. You just can't have a lurcher running around in the countryside without stock training - not unless you know the land really well and can keep her on lead where there is
  3. No Moll, I'm a sucker ... I did it for a kiss and lunch at McDonald's
  4. I lived there for a few years and I never saw owt as ugly as that bird! Great capture CH
  5. You and those things She really is quite good on her feet ... and has better recall than I do
  6. She's a real treat Robbie. Very nice girl indeed. If I was less of a woman I'd be jealous
  7. ... of Snoop's bitch (not me, the dog ) She is a lovely little bitch Robbie, a credit to you. Thought you'd like to see how she's coming on
  8. Patrick I'm not sure your dog is actually aggressive. I'd wager it's a fear based behaviour - get in first before they do. My black bitch is the same; a proper nightmare on the lead. Some of that is down to her breeding, her mother had a rather spicy temperament. Some of it is down to learned behaviour from a greyhound I had when she was young, and then she was attacked by a bull mastiff whilst on lead. My bitch doesn't have the best body language, and her warnings are subtle. Some dogs don't see it or respect it and she snaps. She's bossy at the best of times but when she's on lead she's mile
  9. There's a real thrill watching a clueless human chase a skunk, I must admit. I love that about you Brits - you just haven't got a clue!
  10. If he's got the runs, cook him up some chicken and rice, offer it to him in small amounts. If he's not drinking as much as you'd like, use a syringe to get some water into him. Probably he's upset by having lots of company to being alone. They do get dicky tums sometimes when they're unsettled by change.
  11. Oh Wilf, she's so BAD. She lead me astray I didn't know I could drink that many cocktails Shushy, if I recall correctly you found the 'focking skunk' and coursed it, didn't you? For the sheer entertainment value of that video, I'm happy to provide you with a free download Glad you like it. Prints are available for sale if you fancy Duncan those pics are basically how we roll in this house. Out and about is how it's done - rain or shine

  13. Thanks Skycat ... we'll see what stories the pictures tell as the terrier gets older and more ignorant! I'm a bit afraid of what's to come
  14. I am totally going to order that - it's ACE!
  15. I bought the Dunkers for you but forgot to give them to you, d'oh! Kids were pleased tho ... once again, too much information .... Spider looks good no matter what, even with the failed perm tail. And Dennis got his ass kicked again, but not before he led her round the field in a merry dance - she might be a lightening bolt but she turns like a boat ... as I type he's being beaten up by the terrier, and crying whilst it happens. Ponce.
  16. The lurcher and the whippet wouldn't even DARE to do that. Apparently the terrier doesn't know better, or just doesn't give a toss. I reckon it's option 2 I've never had a terrier. He's great with the kids and if I'm honest, I proper love the little fecker I don't much like dunkers anyway if I'm honest
  17. I was just on the phone with Moll, I goes outside and finds this What made me think a terrier was a good idea?
  18. Seemingly trying to get a striker for Rangers.................... :11:
  19. I agree with the crate training idea - I do it with all of mine. It's beneficial for more than just house training but it definitely makes it easier. You have to stay on top of them, taking them out all the time, after sleep, play and eating ... but they get the message faster with the crate. Don't paper train. All that does is add an extra step to the learning. Just be consistent and only correct them if you catch them in the act. Rubbing their nose in it is really not going to do anything other than teach them not to rub their nose where they piss Pets at Home sells a deterrent you can
  20. I give mine a whole raw egg - they take it from me very gently Watching them the first time, trying to work out wtf to do with it, is pretty funny
  21. Despite some of the awful things I've been through - and there are a good few of those - the only regret I have is not learning to drive when I was younger. Everything that's happened to me has happened for a reason, in hindsight, and it's put me where I am today... happy with my lot, tho there's not a lot that I have. I do have good friends, great kids, and a good man. Don't need much more than that.
  22. Thanks Stan ... the little brown terrier is a mystery. Not sure what he is, but he's got a delightful temperament. Unless he's buggering off and won't come back for love nor money, or digging a hole big enough for a body And he's only about 12 weeks old!
  23. The last couple of days I had a visit from two good friends ... and then the kids started their school holidays ... both occasions require dog walking and picture taking, so I thought I'd share a few. First some shots with the visiting mutts And a couple from yesterday's sprog and dog mooch It all started with handbags at dawn And then the fight started Followed by a spot of kid coursing ... and general all round good times And here's a special one for Hannah - there were demands for di
