Just to clarify Dub, to me Chav is more of an attitude and lifestyle than a style of dress. Trackies don't denote chav in my book

Men who are in their 40's and dress like a 20 year old lad. You've passed it, move on Men who use sunbeds. Men with long fingernails Chavvy teen parents, full stop. Girls with orange faces and pale necks. People who don't pick up after their dogs in public places. ... don't get me started .....

Sure there's things I miss about it. People who can actually drive in snow, for one Maple syrup varies from place to place - different climate/trees, different flavour. It's ALL good. Food of the Gods if you ask me. I get it sent over

Canada. I married a Brit there who brought me back here, showed his true alcoholic colours and abused me. I left him after 4 years of hell, but stayed because I really didn't have anywhere to go home to. My kids were born here. My Gran is from Liverpool (don't hold it against me ). This is my home, I raise the kids to respect and love this country - because I do. Not all immigrants come here to take the piss. Some of us come with the best intentions and end up trapped. I've been here 8 years now. Someone called me a dirty foreigner the other week and told me to f*ck off back to where I c

I came to this country with certain plans in mind. I never expected it to go the way it did, to need help with my family. I worked from the age of 13 and had pride in what I earned. I am so grateful for every bit of help I get - it's soul destroying to need it, but I would never in a million years take the piss. I love Britain, warts and all; it's my home. People like them, who use their children for profit, who come here, take advantage, then go home and have a giggle at what they take from this country .... it fills me with rage.
-
Ideation I do feel sorry for the kids but they are NOT British and they won't be raised to love and respect this country. So it's hard for me to feel sympathy - for the children, of course I do, but not for the adults they become.

I just don't get why it's tolerated. They aren't residents! I worked for a forensic accounting firm, it's not hard to track money, even cash. So really , why not just call it what it is - thieving both from the government they claim from , and the people they beg from - and arrest them and deport them? Do it often enough they'll not come back.
-
....yer and the Panorama dude indicated that the men were the ones behind it? Bet that's not entirely true. ... more wine ...
-
I just ... what the .... really... There they all are in plain view. Begging is against the law. Lock the fuckers up and get rid!!! Jesus what more evidence do they need? And he's saying don't you get housing benefit and child benefit ... why should they get that?! God, it made me so mad I had to drink wine

They were still on tele when I was a kid - used to watch it with my Nan!

I can't wrap my head around it ... why the F are these people even allowed to be on the streets in the first place? Dirty thieving twats!!! And right at the end of the program he calls them 'Britain's forgotten children'. They're not even British. WTF?! http://news.bbc.co.uk/panorama/hi/front_page/newsid_9618000/9618038.stm

....with an outstanding voice. Watch it all. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dfc0EYktwI

Maybe not but ignoring a dying child in the street is something that would unlikely happen in most other countries, thank god. Probably not Shepp, thankfully, but plenty of people ignore suffering children every day - we see them everywhere, in shops, on buses, in the school yard, in next door's garden. It might not be an immediate threat, but we look away, say it's not our problem ... what makes us better?
-
Really glad I didn't watch that; reading the thread was hard enough. People see others in distress and they're are afraid of being sued, conned, attacked, whatever ... so they just look away most of the time. Lack of empathy isn't strictly a Chinese trait.

Drove my mate home one night - on the wrong side of the road. Drove another mate home from a night club, on the motorway etc. Never had a license in my life and I was only marginally more sober than her. Not something I would ever do again, but we were young and stupid. Woke up one morning with a roadworks sign flashing the word 'CAUTION' at the foot of my bed. No idea where it came from to this day. Slept in parks, on benches etc. Woke up once in a flat somewhere in Toronto with about 20 other people all crashed on the floor. Sat on a passenger window of a car and sped past a
