  2. I'm so pleased you are back on here. Just to get Sir Blessed replying from Australia is a bust. Just to let you know that I've been asked by quite a few to get up to the Borders so will contact you in the New Year. Flacko wants a pup to head up that that way so might just accommodate. Are you up for meeting with Airgunant? Have a hell of a night and all the best for the New Year.
  3. Well. Strangely, the farmer said would I like some mature manure and , typically, without hesitation , I said yes. Now my mate Joe, who has just taken an adjoining lot agreed to split the cost, SO, (1 pint later) the farmer was more then happy. Off we go again. The reason I actually started writing this thread was that all the neighbours fruit bushes are in full bud and my Raspberry row is showing well. My broad beans have taken off to the point of needing support and the garlics look amazing. Do I really need the aforementioned muck??? Of course I do. Get going guys and as we speak, all t

  7. Nice one Sussex. How are you pal.? Did you see the last pics of part of the antler on a stick? Jok.
  8. FAO Ant. Eh up pal. You did say when I was up last that you would be having a few new birds. What happened to the walkabout bird? Don't know when I'm up the next but will be in touch. Have a good un you both. Hope you get to enjoy some of our traditions. Jok.
  9. Ya daft booger. Health always comes first. ALWAYS? Get yourself checked over pal sooner rather than letter. ATB? Jok.
  10. There' s a good friend , lives about 800yds from your door who did the Falklands. Marine. FCKG his head. You might like to meet him. Jok.
  11. Eh up son. If you let me have them when you've finished I'll let you have another good read and return them to you when done. Got some pies for you as well. Jok.
  12. Well Nicholas that does look good. Out of curiosity, where does such a blade end up? When I looked at the last pic I thought, 'crikey his fingers are a mess'.? Nice work. Jok.
  13. As above. A beast of a machine which I'll not be able to maul about anymore, back to hand digging. I'm not too sure if I'm allowed to put a price on here so if anyone is interested pm me please. It's available, for cash, and collection only from South Derbyshire.hope you are enjoying the snow. Jok.
  14. Having hand dug my allotment for the last 2 years, I reluctantly am going to sell on my rotovator. It's a 6.5hp American beast. Forward and reverse with adjustable rear tine. I think it's something like Alaski Gasoline cultivator. Anyhow, as sead it's a bit of a brute and TBH I won't be able to muscle it round. This thing is available for collection only near Ashby De La Zouch in Leicestershire. I'm thinking £150.00 should buy it and cash would as always be King. PM me if interested. If it ain't of interest then EBay here we come.
  15. Dido. Sounds like a good plan. You'll be planting before long mate. Jok.
  16. Hero Simon. Glad you are pleased. Heather and I had a lovely time and enjoyed Buzzards Valley. Now then. I have the keeper and my mate here for a glass and explained about the Toll. They are very keen as am I. What if anything would you want us to do now. I also went home via Elford and the Home Farm. Didn't see anyone but will go again. Jok.
  17. Micky. I used to use soot and admit it was bagged for a hell of a long time, so much so that the bags dropped apart. In Dido's position I feel that he would be doing the best for the ground by somehow double digging and introducing well rotted cow manure even if it has been concrete housed. I do feel that it would be detrimental at this early stage to use 'hot' muck.on a plus note, would it not be a good idea to set up some raised beds whilst the worst of the ground was being prepared, maybe for next year. Jok.
  18. If I may chuck in my twopence worth, I've had chickens for quite a few years and am adding muck onto my compost heap on a regular basis. However, any bird muck is termed as hot and needs a goodly length of time to cool down before it goes into the garden. Also bear in mind, if your are bothered, farmed chickens, ducks, geese and racing pigeons do have regular injections so you may not want to introduce these to your garden. A great help I've had for soil conditioning are spent Brewers hops. If youv'e a local mini brewer he/ she might be very willing to let you have them just to clear them away.

  20. Glad you are back safe and sound mate. We just got back from a sad occasion in Mablethorpe and to be honest I could've believe the traffic. Why does everyone have a death wish?? Anyway. Yes finished and I'm quite pleased. It feels good in the hand which is a good sign. I had to guess the length of shaft. Think now going to Buzzards Valley We'd/Thurs so either meet you there or yours. Jok.
  21. Yes mate. Took a little time and the inlays a little longer but it used a an unusual and probably useless bit of antler. Sussex gifted me the antler around a year ago and to be honest I wasn't sure where to go with it. As I mentioned earlier I have also been gifted a couple of Irish coins from Adam and have cut the horn ready for mounting. The end r exult is what you see. It feels good to the thumb, nice and light and topical.jok.
  22. Wow. Following a gift from Sussex some time ago, I've finally made a stick that is at the least interesting.hopefully Simon will be pleased. The idea was a reptile head using crushed velvet as the eyes and a discreet inlay of ebony as eye slits. Hope you like. Jok.
