  1. Eh up John. Happy New Year. Same as you but with my grand daughter. Not hunting and fishing mind you, but down the garden. I've given her a plot to get on with and she loves it. Wants me to start something at school as well. Having said that, I've joined a local fishing club and in the past three weeks have re-stocked with just over 800 fish. We start on the 18th and I think I'll be having some company. Stay lucky. Jok.
  2. The thing is. I have had a great deal of banter and indeed argument on a numbe of occasions on the forum. Just lately, Iv'e noticed less and less inter activity in terms of the above. No one seems to have an opinion that leads to discussion. A lot of guys and girls who would normally be up front with their own opinions seem to have disappeared. Where are all these guys? You know who you are and to me , you are missed. This forum , to my thoughts, lives and breathes on what we all think and are able to comment on whether it creates havoc or not. Leslie HG is a point as is Gruffalo, Socks, myse
  3. Just a quickie. Anyone have a litter of Jacks. Friend asked if I could find one. Jok.
  4. The wax I use is Briwax. Originally I bought it for finishing bowls etc on the lathe but if you hand apply it with a soft cloth and then try to get a bit of heat into it, by hand or mechanical means, it gives a lovely finish. And smells nice too. Jok.
  5. Don't know about records but I was given a shot in Derbyshire which ended up at 19 stones (old money).. He was one big mother and we had to winch him down. Jok.
  6. Hi Rob. Well son, a good place to start is leather. Soft malleable leather to start with which is easier to work. Hide can be a bit stubborn and unforgiving. You'll need a hole punch set, good quality yarn and wax. A good set of industrial needles which will include curves. The list goes on and on as you get going. Just by looking at people's work will give you ideas but something really simple to start is going to be a good idea. I made an unusual iPad case, pictured here. Not difficult but very satisfying. Knives sheathes are good as are small wallets. Belts involve soldering iron work and o
  7. Are'nt they a beautiful piece of workshop genius. I just get the suspicion that you will want to one better. Jok
  8. I've it before but I must say it again. Presentation is everything and you just go the extra mile. Very, very nice job. Jok.
  9. Parabuteos Lad , asked a bout a stick for the auld fell so here it is. I'm hoping he both likes and that it helps him on the road to recovery. Nice seasoned hazel shaft, waxed and buffed, brass ferrule and most importantly a lovely saluki looking solid brass handle which is actually screwed onto the shaft. Jok.
  10. As it was. As said Gin trap. Forerunner to the Fenn trap. Jok.
  11. Thanks Mark. Yes I agree, help each other if we can. Will put a pic up when it's done. Jok.
  12. Now then. Who's up for a sizeable bet on Scotland to beat Ireland. Jok.
  13. Aw bird my heart bleeds. That ref was akin to a god. He didn't miss much. As to Wolves? ??
  14. Eh up Walshie. Yes mate I really did enjoy the game. To be fair, it's lovely to see a team come together and put up both an effective defence, but also an attacking back line. Our wee man had a good un as always. Think your forwards may have lost the plot a bit . Only an opinion. Jok.
  15. I've just the thing for you and you can have it with pleasure. Owt to help the old fella. I started a stick a bit ago with a stiff hazel shaft. I was gifted a brass lurches head and all it needs is marrying them together. If you are interested pm me. Jok.
  16. Onions planted as seed in November and so far re-potted twice. Should be going in about 3 weeks time Leek cabbage and cauliflower put in 3 weeks ago but a bit spindly. I put my first earlies in on March 9th last year but got clobbered by the frost so going to leave them a bit longer. Jok.
  17. I wonder if it has to go in the classifieds.?Jok.
  18. Her indoors would NEVER leave me. She'd hate to see me happy. Jok.
  19. That was a bit better. Sorry Jonjon can't seem to agree with you entirely. Laidlaw scored the points but the team put him in that position. Good all round performance. Phew. Jok.
  20. Hi Socks. How you keeping? Yes and no with the pundits. As said, I keep watching and to be honest he never did get that downward pressure. My opinion mate. When I was playing, downward pressure was hand above the ball pressing down. Now, the same can't be said about that decision. Who am I to comment though when, as a second row 4 I watched my hooker scrabbling like fck to get the ball from a straight tunnel when now they get fed. The laws sure have changed. Jok.
