  1. Eh up Cushty. Looking good. Now, a question. When beech sets in a natural environment, who goes round spraying? Answer. No one. Why don't you leave well alone and strim as and when ? Your planting a take a bit longer than most to leaf up but by the end of May it should be looking good. I agree by the way, lol. Spec savers might have been an idea. Jok.
  2. Strangely Max, the last time I had dolphin company was not far from you, the Farne Islands. Also, diving with the seals there was quite spectacular . The blighters would nip our fins and generally make a pest of themselves. Brilliant. Jok.
  3. Eh up Welsh. Being a former diving instructor, we were able to do most things including diving with dolphins. Awesome just isn't explaining it. However, if I'm allowed to go a step further on your thread, diving with , and in the company of rays , must be one of the greatest of all my diving experiences. The great miss in my experience was not diving with the great whales. It truly is another world down there. Jok.
  4. Cracking as always with attention to presentation. The handle looks stunning as does the sheath. Always a pleasure to view your work Nico. Jok.

    Books

There used to be a book dealer on here. Anyone remember or know who he is. From Derbyshire I think. Jok.
  6. RIP? Not a lot of people know this , but back in the late 70's early 80's, in a district called Manama in the centre of Bharain was a drinking establishment called 'The Crafty Cockney'. ?. We used to get issued a green card which allowed us a bit of rope. Jok.
  7. I 'be just been informed that Aldi are selling toms , Ailsa Craig, at £1.70 for 10 plants. Now this could obviously be wrong but well worth a look. Beats the hell out of growing from seed. Jok.
  8. Looks to me like you are going to struggle with those Toms. They have gone very leggy. You might get away with planting them in deep pots rather than grow bags. We are all behind by 3 weeks here and in fact are only just putting the seed in. Runner beans and sweet corn in pots in greenhouse but after that haven't been able to do much. Jok.
  9. Well you guys. As you know I regularly have a little comment to make on this forum. I went down today with good intention and to be honest was surprised at how cold the soil is. I had intended to put a row of parsnip in but there was no point. I did put two more rows of earlies in and set some bits and pieces in the greenhouse but other than that it , at the moment, is hopeless. Jok.
  10. Jonah. Well pal, must be worth having a look. There are some legal eagles on here who I imagine could answer the question. However, look at it like someone who knows he / she is not allowed onto our land , I'e Vikings, Romans etc. They knew that their sheer might would get them onto or into our little country. They were classed then as enemy, threatening our land. However, they gained access through our coast and rivers. Now, supposing I wanted to fish the river Tweed with access from Berwick and got as far inland as my hometown, Melrose, would I, having caught a salmon, have broke any laws?
  11. Jonah. I agree. However , is there, or is there not a Royal Decree. It would solve a few arguments. Jok.
  12. Is there not a Royal decree that allows the common man to fish providing he does not trespass.? Certainly there is North of the Border. Jok.
  13. When we've got the guys on here making prop quality knives, and there are a few, why would we look at that kind of garbage ? The mind boggles. Well, at least nine does. Only my humble opinion mind you. Jok.
  14. Hi you lot. Thought this might be of interest to you. I'm tied up to an auction house who are conducting an auction of ex dive shop equipment. This probably means that everything will be in test. There are different sizes from what I can see. The auction finishes on April 5th. If it's of any interest please feel free to pm me. Jok.

  16. Eh up Les. Just had 16 pigeon delivered to my back door. They will end up in pies. Also had a good day on the trout. Bag limit. Nice all round. Jok.
  17. At last Walshie and I agree on something. Lol. I'm not saying he loves the Jocks but hey ho we're friends on this subject. Jok.

  20. Thank fook for that penalty or my shirt was in the log burner lol. Muppets. Mind you just watched England first half and they are truly struggling. When you play against 14 you have to make it count. Not looking good you guys. Jok
  21. First pic was of a nice covering of spent Brewers hops which as said is a good soil conditioner. 3rd pic, as has been said, water pipe with scaffold net covering. The other pics are just bragging. Jok.
  22. Get down there and watch and listen to the old boys. You'll soon find out they grow the most, the biggest and the best. Lol. Early potatoes need going in now but ridge them up as you set the rows or else that late frost will bite them. Broad beans should have been in by now but not too late. Peas can be soaked for 24 hours and they can then go in. Cabbage, Durham Early, if you have or can get some plants are ok. If you like your corn then get them soaking for a couple of days and then pot them up either in the greenhouse or certainly under a fleece. Towards the end of the month everything will
  23. Like the idea with the sage and onion Griff. Nice touch. Jok.
  24. My guess is pickled walnuts. They are absolutely shocking in my opinion. Jok.
  25. Nice one Griff. Bit like a Japanese chopping blade I once had. Foolishly let it go. Numb nuts. Jok.
