    Eh up pal. I actually make lots of things wooden. This and my poachers box have been really popular so kind of stuck with this type of construction. They are very lightweight and easy to carry and use. There obviously is a reason for the 'posh' look in as much as I like to make nice things which are totally functional. Have a look at Sir Blessed on here, from Australia, who is using one as we speak. Jok.

    No didn't watch any video. I do know, as you obviously do as well, that a racer is hell bent on getting back to the loft. They fly in a straight line at a rapid rate of knots without any other thought other than getting home.,If a shooter can't tell the difference between a fluttering feral, a woodpigeon or a racer than perhaps he/she shouldn't be shooting. Just my humble opinion mind you and I've been among racers for a lot of years. Jok.

    If I'm being totally honest, I don't know. Only thing I do know is that I take home is absolutely beautiful. Moving on. The keeper has just been in touch as has made a shit load of pheasant meat sausages which he wants me to pass round and get an opinion. I'm hoping that he has mixed in some belly pork as from memory they were a tad dry. Jok.

    I found out today that they are paying a decent amount at Birmingham market for birds to be sent to France. Jok.

    Now then lignium vitea. Airgunant just let me see some which will be returned ASAP. Heavy wood with a wonderful dual colour. As I understand it the problem is that the resin within doesn't allow glueing or at least makes it difficult. Wha t a wonderful wood for knife making. Thoughts. Jok.

    Stumfelter. Only an opinion , and only mine. When a shoot is charging £35.00 plus vat for every bird shot, is it not common sense to ask someone to take away the residue at .30p each.? Now don't get me wrong. I don't agree with any of it but financially it would work. My concern is that the birds could be introduced into the food chain if we were only allowed to let them. Health and hygiene have made it a tad difficult. Again, only my opinion. Jok.

    Did you see the Austin Healey in white and gold leaf going under the hammer with, I belieVe, Bonhams, in New York. That car was my original dream and I could have bought one from Lord Hesketh when I lived in Northampton. Only because I worked for the local newspaper and had the contacts then. Lol. What a car. Jok.

    What quantity are you talking about? On our shoot, the lads drop off all remaining birds to my place and I dress them and deliver to our local butcher ( who is already moaning about not having enough) and we get paid handsomely. By the way, I pluck and present the birds properly as a brace which his customers really like. This way you can put aside birds that are beyond saving and then the ferrets are looked after. Another good customer is the local Indian restaraunt who will not only take birds but will prepare you a gourmet curry using your own birds, for nowt. Use a bit of imagination . Jok

    Arry and Terry. I must be a thick old twit. Never once had I thought about growing from the tuber. Bit like a dahlia really. Obvious. Well I'm too late this season because they are in the compost bin, which, following Terry's example is really going well. I might have mentioned earlier that I have a friendly brewer who lets me have all his spent hops which really does make compost a reality. This has really taken off on our allotments and to be honest, once again, it's only going back to basics. As an aside, garlic and winter onions are looking very strong. Jok.

    Huge problem with that Arry. FROST. No matter what you do the big F will kill your beans stone dead. Stick with potting out your beans in April and then into the ground in May. I might add that some beans are inadvertently left in the ground when you pull them up and surprisingly they get through the winter and sprout, as do many things. Bit risky though with runners. Jok.

    Terry d . What is this all about. No dig. Can't for the life of me see the benefit. What is wrong with old fashioned digging in the autumn. Get rid of all perennial weeds and the problem is solved. We have allotments covered in carpet etc which undoubtably stems the weed growth but to be honest mine is winter dug and there are no weeds showing at all. I still think the old ways are best. Get your local farmer to deliver a load of muck and cover the whole area then come spring just get digging and planting . Simple.jok.

    No mate. It's a lot bigger than the one showing on the tube. This thing takes a lot of handling believe me. It grinds down about 16 inches but you have to muscle it along. Beauty is that that the tiilth is like talcum powder. I'll take a pic next time instead of trying to explain what it is. Jok.
