The D700 is certainly better for low light stuff, ratting in barns, close in work..etc.. it also has faster and better auto focus in low light. Noise is less of a problem too with the D700 so you can pump the ISO up higher if needed. I wouldnt be rushing out to sell a D300 to replace it with a D700 if I was you, I had one, I bought it the week it came out. they are a cracking camera, if I hadnt run it over with my car I would probably still have it..It was my second camera when I go out.. Outside; at up to 400 ISO and in good light and there probably woundnt be too much difference in the q

Never thought I would go back to a crop sensor camera, but Im definately at least having a look at the new Nikon D500, as their new D5 full framer is a little out of my price range http://nikonrumors.com/2016/01/08/nikon-d500-specifications-and-features-explained-confidential-nikon-internal-document.aspx/

Too true matie. I had a bitch stolen in 1990, a bitch that I bred myself and I had her mother, and grand mother.. Not a nice thing to happen, but what makes it worse for me, is that I got NO help from the rest of the lurcher lads here in ASHINGTON, and I have found out since, that some of the guys that visited my house, drank with me and knocked about with me, knew the two low lifes that took her.. Then, when some f***ing coursing lad from here gets his taken, an army went over to Cumbria to get the dog back.. The two that stole her live in ASHINGTON, "great dog lads" now...coursing buffs

Pup Retrieving Sometimes, Sometimes Dropping
Omanyra replied to springfield's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Shes a youngster, and as such hopefully with a bit more time she will improve..Ive always had good retrieving lurchers, and pure deerhounds that retrieve almost automatically when I start to work them, its an area that was so important to me, and as you say, you need to get it right Hope she improves for you.. Ive just watched a DVD called the Border Ratters, compiled by a Hunting Life member, Staff.. I have to admit its a really canny DVD, and I enjoyed it. Theres loads of action in it, almost non stop..different terriers hunting rats at night..I was on some of the nights out taking stills, I knew he had his GOPRO going, but I didnt realise he had done this DVD till recently For the lads first attempt its a very very watchable and it is worth a watch..

You must be a hell of a smoker matie, ha ha JD is right Undi..you can hire them so easily now, I do every year to photograph ospreys, and it gives you a chance to try before you buy..That are big lumps of glass, and I have always hand held them, as I dont own a tripod, the troubles I have with my back now are the combined results of 35 years in the motor industry, and hand holding these..I couldnt use these continually without a tripod. Ive been in hides and photographic situations with pros and semi pros, and yes they have the extra distance with these big feckers, but swinging them about f

Awrite Bill looking for bit of advice, plan to buy 500 or 600mm nikon lens at end of month (older model not the newer ones) which do you recommend? Have you won the pools matie.. Ive used both, and common sense would suggest that getting the bigger lens for what we do would be the one to get, but, my preference would be the 500mm, and this is purely through having hands on experience using them both..not from reviews or what the big lads say.. Another cracking lens is the old 400mm f2.8....its heavy, 10,5 pounds in weight and has no VR, (the 500mm is 8.5 pounds and has VR) but its

It has been proven, the need to put high concern on the breeding selection of bitches..this is also the case with farm livestock, in fact anywhere where this is a long term breeding plan.

I think that one will work well for a lot of folk Rat face...Its not a how to book, as we all know how to do that, its a year with the Border ratters, stories of different nights and days out ratting, sections on the many different breeds we had up, including Bedlingtons, Borders, Plummers, JRT, WHWT, Lakeys, Lurcher, Bull terrier, various cross breeds, different guys we had up with us, history of most of the dogs we had out, how they were bred, etc and a section on how to get the images seen in the book..to assist anyone wanting to have a go at capturing terriers ratting, at night.....camera,

Yip, not as many here compared to what there was..a pity, a nice bird to have around to see, and hear Same as JD..plenty of (good) bullies here at the minute..absolutely loads of chaffies this year, and goldies are just starting to return in numbers I found double figures of Goldfinch nests last year, but only one greenie nest. :-(
