  2. Just wanted to show my carpentry skills back in the `s, check me fence.. The rough bitch here was stolen by two c**ts from Ashington in 1990, I know their names, but I would love to know where my bitch ended up..if anyone recognises her, let me know please 24 inches, two white front feet, one hell of a bitch on deer And, advanced retrieving training..
  3. Always good to look back on old photos like these
  4. Thats Axel on the photo of the 4 dogs, back right, the one next to him is his sister, Peggy the two at the front are litter sisters, all bred from the same deerhound stud dog I saw Axel get 30 rabbits one night, but Eric who owned him was more into bigger stuff, and stuff that bit back at that time.. Ive had two first crossers, both got down to rabbits no probs, both into the 30s a few times. All the deerhounds I worked also got down to rabbits, But for numbers, I must admit I like something a bit smaller..but not too small That's the only reason I put a whippet over my 1stx mate and

  7. Four first cross deerhound x greyhounds, not my favourite worker, but a good starting point..and as you can see, sometimes better looking than their owners..ha ha ha
  8. and a fair question too me old tatey, since I probably didnt add enough to my post..It was again linked to 60 yard slips..on footie fields, and added the likes of golf courses etc..Ive hunted these, as everyone else on here has, and long slips on these grounds are the best you will get at times..so I aviod them with young dogs..but your dog got it, so well done. I know its so inviting especially when their on your door step, and if it had been me, I probably would have chased them too, after maybe getting a bit closer, it takes a lot of dicipline at times not to slip your dog I start my dogs
  9. Would keep away from football, cricket fields, golf courses etc etc etc..too
  10. Thats the way to do it..early success
  11. I never leave the house Xmas day, stay in to play with my toys..:-)
  12. That is a tradition for a lot of lads, who often end up slumped over the porcelain telephone with eyes, nose, and mouth in full flow lol Not for me matie, stopped drinking in 1991, and when I did drink, always had the disipline to come off it where dogs and woment where concerned
  13. Always good to see photos of results.. New years eve was always my last night out of the year, a sort of "tradition"
  14. Have only ever worked bitches, and in all my time I have never had a bitch off the road for being in heat..
  15. A few ratting pictures at night, when out with the border ratters..
  16. Bought two lurchers in my life, £15 and £30..bred all the rest I had Some daft money being asked these days, but if you have the money..... But remember, when money comes in the front door, honesty usually leaves through the back door.
  17. They roost in daylight , mostly in woodland. It is uncommon to see woodcock in the daytime in fields. I think I've only seen it a couople of times. Once in the snow I took a few snaps of a feeding woodcock. Beautiful bird they are when you 'really' look at them. Once photographed a woodcock on the nest......amazing camoflage.... Seen them in the snow, squatting at the bottm of small fir trees..also seen one on its nest, 4 lovely eggs when she lifted. Amazing bird and so much being done now by various conservation bodies to protect them, and ensure that they will be there for future
  18. I wouldnt use this cross for an all rounder myself, but out of your question, whippet x Beddy
  19. We take one out on the rats with us; Dont focus on the negatives, look at the virues of the breeding, all crosses have good and bad points..a lot of the bad points are probably built up by people who have never even had one..
  20. Very nice looking dogs matie When I was a mole man in North Northumberland, I did the moles on a farm owned by a hunt terrierman for the Border hunt, he had a lovely stamp of borders..
