I personally would rather buy the better quality hooks and line and there's nothing worse than losing a good fish possibly the fish of a life time after sitting there for hours waiting for a take all to save a few quid
I would cut 2"X1" battens in to the plaster bourd the use 4" screws in to the block work then you know that they ain't going any where plaster bourd cut easily with a Stanley knife
I've got the ms170 it has plenty of power to deal with the sizes your on about really good saw for the money I use this over my stilh timber boss on % of my jobs hope this helps thanks
