Most consistent catcher in cover iv'e ever seen was a cairn terrier, mentioned him on here before a couple of times, very fast through a tight run, his coat was so thick/harsh nothing stopped him, but he damaged everything he grabbed, wouldn't let go type, not a dog i would want tbh. I had a mongrel terrier bitch with a bit of whippet in her, only around 14" and she caught pretty well, but i don't think you can guarantee any dog will catch better in tighter cover. The best dogs iv'e seen on more mixed ground have been small whippet x 's, whippet x terriers, and a whippet x lab, but not the b

Well I highly recommend the colston bassett stilton or the long Clawson not because there local but there regarded as some of the finest also a blue Shropshire red is nice The stuff i had came from a farmers market in Shropshire, not red though, creamy white, lots of green, strong taste to the cheese, slightly crumbly, maybe some local stuff?

I got a bit of a hamper thingy for xmas, i worked my way through it pretty quick, all except the block of blue cheese. Iv'e tried it a few times and never liked it, to get to the point, i tried this stuff a few days ago, its proper strong but i don't know which one it is? and i'm a convert Just finished the last bit off and wondered how many like it?

Iv'e got an old Edgar Sealy glass fiber spinning rod i inherited at 8, had it over 40 years, before anyone told me i needed a special rod for every situation, i caught everything on it Modern rods i like, are both FOX, 1 3/4 test fox barbel is a good rod imo, iv'e had loads of barbel on mine, most from the Trent, it makes a good long distance bream rod. I wanted a pair of heavier rods just for the Trent, and after being impressed with the 1 3/4 fox, i got a pair of fox 2 3/4 test barbel, they're not pokers by a long chalk, but cast a fair weight really well, iv'e had mainly barbel on

Reminds me of another dig me and the mate had, a bomb crater type hole, full of concrete railway sleepers, we knew the spot, a few lads tried to dig it, when i say dig it, there's no digging, its like a game of kerplunk with 3 hundred weight straws. I think somebody had been winding my mate up a bit about not having a go at it, he had a very good small bitch, perfect for this place, so we had a go. Iv'e hit all sorts of weird stuff on the way down, old cars, bed frames, the old mattresses are a b*****d if you don't have cutters, but the one i really didn't like was an old ash tip, looked easy enough, but a 3ft we hit asbestos sheets, and had to smash through 3 foot or so of them, the keeper could have mentioned that first but he wanted shut. Don't get me wrong it was soaking wet, so no dust, but i weren't happy about it

A mate had an accidental litter a few years back, both lab and spaniel side were decent working lines, he kept a dog pup for a good while, but couldn't give it enough work to keep it happy, he gave it to the right lad and its doing well from what i hear, nice strong athletic thing

Not being funny mate at all, but that's no excuse to breed a dog that's carrying a fault, it's a real shame if the bitch is an honest working beddy, they need all the help they can get, but iv'e got mates who wouldn't breed a particular dog even though it was a good worker, serious lads who don't want to pass faults on to others, when you think about it logically, if someone made the right decision way back, this lad wouldn't have this problem, smaller gene pool with something like a beddy granted, but i'd rather work with harder culled stock, than a bigger gene pool with more faults? -

Not being funny pal but I'd be more concerned with my on dogs welfare than some out of control people of shit pit bull type.
