The weimaraner is now a poor imitation of what it once was, here in the uk anyway. I had four of them years ago from working lines, all hunted, all held and backed a point, all retrieved (land and water). They were all a bit tetchy with other dogs and took little provocation to fight. Good guards and would protect you. I'd think you would be doing well to source one now with all the above qualities without going abroad. Biggest downside with them I think is their coat (or lack of it).

Genuinely shocked, not only by the so called children brought in, but by the fact the lefties and those in power seem to think Joe Average will be duped. It's not in the snp's interests to make things too rosy before independence is achieved, for if things were how could they persuade folks to vote for said independence when things are fine under a westminister government and things are ticking along nicely. I'd class your dog as gun nervous as opposed to gunshy, there is a difference. If he was truly gunshy he'd be off when a shot was fired. One of my dogs was exactly the same, I'd used the same methods with him as all the other dogs, banging bowls, starter pistol, shotgun at a distance eventually working my way in. He never bolted, he just looked uncomfortable and like yours was keen to go for the shot bird. I genuinely don't know why gundog lurchers aren't more popular. I like collie crosses, but as lurcher work goes ( in the true sense of the word) I would think gundog breeds would be up there along side them. Or perhaps I've got a different idea of what constitutes lurcher work.
