the neck stretch or the chop were my favourites until aa a teenage and i saw my uncle take a rabbit that had not netted correctly out of the side of a net whilst holding it round the neck he then shook it backwards so that its body weight broke its neck as it swung backwards against its head and neck firmly in your hand i thought WOW that looks cool, and very non-chalant, next time ferreting with my brother i went to despatch one the same way, swinging it between my legs and successfully breaking its neck problem was i had left it in the purse net, and the draw cord and peg swung ro

i recall a "Countryfile" programme that featured a fella in wales who fed the Buzzards and there would often be over a dozen swooping into his back garden, so i reckon if they will put up with each other to take food from him they will do so if there is food somewhere else, fresh cut field/carrion etc.. just a thought

TUG OF WAR :11: i wouldn't have give the rabbit up without a fight either  I remember as a kid my uncle taking me out to show me a badger, late at night, Uncle,my dad,me , my brother and cousin all trundling through a wood with a lamp to look for these badger's that he had seen in a sett near to the wood we hear a noise behind us, turn round, uncle turns on lamp its a young badger following us along the path :11: :11: i dont know who was more shocked us or the badger....suffice to say he quickly left the way he had come and we went home happy Back on the t

i have never been quiet about what i do, ever since school when during a debate in english my topic was fieldsports, it was me versus the rest of the class-it was a draw :11: i managed to convert a few and explain a few points to others--i have never shied away from an arguement or fight and usually win or draw-- and as for the CA having lurchers on the stand at the CLA well-"stable door-horse bolted-close - after" re-arrange them :11:
-
no need to apologise, perhaps i didn't explain sufficently my pointy initially, anyway for your apology you can have a cabinet seat, you,me and ditch shitter, to replace Tony Bliar, John "chippolata" "two jags" Prescott and that weary scottish pillock Brown :11:

thats the same model as my gun, although i dont clean mine by dipping it in an ice hole, well not all the time anyway :11: it truly does work when covered in shite and mud, i used mine when ferreting with my brother in law with his berreta 686e he couldn't beleive i laid it on the floor and then used it with dirty hands after digging etc...and i shot as many rabbits as he did :11:

when i run the country there will be a position for his honourable mister Ditch shitter in my cabinet :11:

i dont blame them for the hunt ban that would be silly i blame them for not portraying hunting in all it's forms and in all the classes of society that partake a scottish mp said after the ban north of the border "thats one in the eye for the toff's in red coats" which shows it as the class prejudice it really is, that same SOCIALIST SMP would possibly have thought differently if hunting had been shown in it's true light and had shown lads in council houses and the vast majority of us on here who have to work for a living using a dog or two to help a farmer/landowner who is eeki

my brother lost a JRT when we were teenagers,we beleive he was in a badger sett for a week and eventually got himself out and came home, he was very thin and collapsed in the field in front of our house and had to be carried in after freeing himself and making his way the few miles to the farm, he recovered but we never expected to see him again, my brother had even cleaned out the kennel and was thinking of getting another dog. so never give up, they sometimes do free themselves and come home, hope your's does

They never go far, and are attracted by the smell of other ferrets pleased she is back, look after her and she will pay you back ten fold
-
A valid point and if the CA had been wise enough they should have displayed ALL types of hunting, and not just mounted pack's, not enough emphasis was put on the lads with a lurcher, a few terriers or even the smaller packs (gun/foot/farmers etc..) of hounds- -and now post Ban the one's that are suffering are the small packs and the lads with a lurcher or a few terriers as they cant claim Hound exercise and they dont have the money of the large packs (who often have barristers etc..within the field) Blame the Countryside Alliance for this NOT the large Packs themselves

i agree, i wasn't judging anyone i think the hunt acted totally correctly and decently about the whole thing, i just thought why is this news worthy ? is it more Anti bias by the BBC? dog's kill other dogs the world over, i know of this happening several times in central london, and the aggrieved owners call the police and are told "It's not a police matter", they call the council and get the same message, no one makes offers of compensation etc...which is the decent thing to do.. as i said why is this news worthy??

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/devon/5277794.stm not good media coverage, the hunt sound like they have dealt with this well though

where did you buy it from? there was one for sale near me it was PINK :11: and about that age and price, i think you needed an NVQ level 2 in hairdressing to be considered for it. i was tempted but couldn't see me driving a PINK car  we have been discussing getting a second car (one for me to go ferreting and shooting in ) the wife has relented and she has decided that i should get a Landy, been looking at defender 90's around the £3000 mark Father in law has a Suzuki Vitara and it's OK , for grass fields and rough tracks but wont go everywhere a Landy will

has anyone else noticed how your taste's change as you get older, as a teenager cider , (cheap and strong) then late teens & early 20's lager, (cheapish and strong) mid 20's discovered bitter, (tasty and strong) now i am 30 real ale's , red wine and malt whisky :11: what's everyone else's drinking history??
-
Special Brew father in law judges drinks by their percentage rather than flavour and he gave me a can  i couldn't finish it and i can drink anything

i agree, traditional is more versatile when ferreting in my opinion

2 years ago, i had a litter arrive right at the end of august, i think it was the 28th there were 6 , 3 jills and 3 hobs, i kept one jill she is fine, i gave the other two jill's to a lad at Aylesbury(haven't seen them since ) 1 hob went to a fella i know near buckingham and the other two hob's went up north to my brother, funnily all the hobs died last year within weeks of each other , my jill is still going strong my mate at Buckingham reckons his had a stroke my brother reckons his were poisoned or stored some meat and ate it without him knowing , he thinks it was bot
