  1. Sparrows book The Terriers Vocation is overlooked a lot these days, dunno why, it's a cracker..... Thing is and feel free to disagree but if its a tale you like, then read a couple of early Plummer books if you've never done before, Tales Of A Rat Hunting Man and Artisan Hunter are great reads IMO, as is Nathan. It's easy to knock 'ol DBP but he could spin a bloody good yarn, especially early on....
  2. 1 young Jill and trying to source another young and local...
  3. Thanks Buch, some good info there.I'll forward it on. Wrightington is a nice part of the world, glad you got it stopped. Seems like West Lancs are hell bent on wind, must be all that hot air they blow in the council chamber...!! Now, what about you coursing boys, anyone old enough to remember the Cup, or maybe even went?? If prime coursing ground like that and all that history behind it matters to you, spend 2 mins tapping keys, sign the petition on the link and keep it safe for both you and future generations...!! If your reading this post, just click on the link and sign..!!!!
  4. Here.... http://www.h-alt.info/ There is a petition tab...
  5. Title changed and pinned in the running dog section.... Come on people, it takes a minute to sign...!!!
  6. Next doors two hob ferrets eyes have gone a silvery white in the middle (pupil) it has appeared today. They called me in to look just now and I've never seen anything like it before. They look like Vin Diesel as 'Riddick'. Both ferrets are kept immaculate, fed on the same chicken mince as the dogs as well as complete ferret food, they are just about the most well looked after pugs i've ever seen. If I'm honest, both look like they've gone blind and seem agitated from their usual docile state. Next door assure me nothing has changed from what they normally do, bedding, shavings, food, water e
  7. they were a good lamp those blue eyes ..once we moved onto the motor bike battery we found the best battery carriers were a gallon plastic jack cut the top of put some BT rope in for a carrying strap and pack the sides with card or paper and use grey gas tape to hold it in .the acid still got all over the back of what ever you was wearing though We must have had exactly the same carriers then too Brookie, as thats what we did with the same gallon jacks. If we touched lucky, old seat belt instead of rope.
  8. After car spotties with motorbike batteries (tin can cowl an a ton of tape), we got a 'Clear Eye' then a 'Blue Eye'. The hunt was always on for decent army bags too, those batteries seen a lot of good bags an good coats off...
  9. doesn't Merseyside have its own working terrier club? I might be wrong tho Affiliated to both the F&M & NWTF.
  10. As I've not owned a terrier for over 12 years now RF, I wonder what has happened to the FMWTC. In my youth it was a 'must join' club, everyone did... Then I did hear of some 'in-fighting and 'unsuitable' reps, did that do damage...?? If I owned a working terrier, no, if I owned a terrier, with the potential to 'drop in', then I wouldn't hesitate to join both the FMWTC and the NWTF, its a no-brainer to me..!!
  11. Good to see that someone is advertising as a type rather than a name and simply outlining what the parents do, quite refreshing on here..!! I love the type and term, Border Lakie, reminds me of my youth, back in the day when pups came with a type not a name. Best of luck with the sale mate, I hope you find real good working homes for 'em. P.s. £150 sounds about right to me too.
  12. The ability to type interesting, honest, sensible and lawful posts up on hunting forums....
  13. All are not huntsmen that blow the huntsman's horn Genesis
