  1. Truth is... No dog should be locked in a kennel, nor should they be left in a house... They ALL were bred to be with us 24/7, to follow us and work at our side.... It's what there best at....!! Thing is, these days, for almost all of us, that just can't happen and we have to leave 'em behind, day in day out... So give 'em the best space you can to live in, inside or out...AND, most of all, give 'em time, as much time as your life allows, time out from that space, as it should be... With you....
  2. Great pics Co Chise... Anyone who knows John Park knows the mans integrity to the world of working terriers, he stands alone at the top of the tree for that... The last of the real greats IMO... Ain't seen that dust cover in quite a few years but one of the dogs John has on couples is Mick, or Micky as I knew it, hell of a dog to dig to and produced some very good gear.
  3. Jerry, I find feeding good curry really makes it easier to clean me kennels daily.... Patak's being the best, though I used to use our local curry house but it got a bit costly. My dogs simply spray their shite out through the bars of their run and onto the grass now. It also increases their daily exercise, as they go into a frenzied spin trying to clean their ring of fire..!!
  4. The only supplements the average lurcher owner should be giving their dog, is supplementing their shite diets with better grub and supplementing their life in a kennel with a bit more field....
  5. What he said & throw in some Bowie , Mott The Hoople & a dash of Zeppelin Sweet Jesus... Bowie.... How the feck could I forget the Thin White Duke (though I did get Led Zep in!)... thank you Kay ... Add your own to the era, it's fecking endless...!!!
  6. Lovely litter that Jack, some fine pups there. One that caught my eye, with a already breaking coat would be my choice. Best of luck with the sale.
  7. 70's or the 80's... The start of the 1970's seen the end of the Beatles and the last gasps of the Woodstock hippy days. In came Metal in its first forms, with Sabbath, Led Zep and Deep P. King Crimson rose from Hyde Park and led the way with Prog Rock, Floyd, Genesis, Yes, ELP etc. Along with it came the Glam stuff, Sweet, Wizard, Slade, don't forget Roxy I hear Stabba cry.... But what about E.L.O.!!!!!!!! Oh yer, the Stones and the Who were at their peak right about now too... Not to mention Elton, Rod and Bolan Go across the pond, giants like ZZ Top, Springsteen, Kiss,
  8. Took me a couple of reads Casso but that makes perfect sense. Oh yer, just to add, one of the better reads on here in a while this thred...
  9. a coffee with Clarrissa and Johnny lol, ye was getting pissed with me lol
  10. Nope, I don't believe that for a second...
  11. Does anyone believe Cocky has got the wedge that has been reported in the media....
  12. When it gets a bit colder I'll use a coat in the kennel, my old half cross feels cold sommat rotten, if ever a dog was born for a warmer climate its him, it was either buy a good fleece coat or a plane ticket for him to emigrate! My pup, on the other hand, is a complete opposite. He has a good double coat and would sleep in a puddle but I'll still use a kennel coat in low temps. As for walkies, I've never used a coat. Exercise is exercise and I'd never want a dog overheating or feeling uncomfortable or restricted.
  13. Best of luck JB, hope you find her safe and well.

    Cider

Head into 'wurzel juice' country and there are some fantastic micro brewery ciders but for someone who lives way out of it, I can't get hold of any local... Off the peg, so to speak, I've always liked Gamers Old English but if I can get hold of it Old Rosie is a nice tipple.
  15. Nige you can agree with Basil all you want mate, makes no difference to me, you ain't pissing on my chips mate, just your own!! My stand is that I will continue to protest against 'anything' being built on that land, including the housing estate (which if there is a site dedicated and a petition I will sign and help?). Only a few years separate us and I have hunted over the same ground as you since childhood. As far as I am concerned Altcar estate is a special place, no matter if it is a shadow of its former self and should be preserved for as long as possible and I'm optimistic enough
  16. Thank you for such constructive advice, feeling much better about 'em now....
  17. You got yourself some propper Lakies there PK.... Lakies can be the worst of puppy's (worst of adults too!), they can have an inbred desire to 'go off' at the slightest thing and even at such a young age seem to want to see it right through...! Thing is though, they can be gassy feckers, quick to take offense with another dog, especially a 'familiar' but can turn out to be all piss an vinegar with real quarry...! My advice, first off, take on one Lakie pup at a time, next time! And, set your stall out now, you need to channel all that aggression into the hunt, not the kill but the hunt....
  18. For serious digging and bags of permission.... Fell Boots For everything else, anything flexible....!!!!
  19. When we were kids we used to 'rescue' dogs from rescue centers, some were bloody fantastic..!
  20. Two mates of mine have owned Lab crosses and both were very good all round dogs dogs and excelled with foxes. Another mate bred out of his GWP bitch with his match gear and they done very well too. Get the right Gun dog cross and they do seem just the ticket, IMO better than many of the other obscure crosses that are mentioned on here but shape could be a real put off when choosing a puppy.
