  1. GTE, maybe it is a fight we cannot win but then if we don't try we never know.... Not all proposals are passed, many wind farms are halted for various reasons, from the stats i've read, thats about half.... Anyway, for me its a no-brainer, no different to my marching in Cumbria, Scotland, London and Brighton. If 'I' don't try, if 'I' don't have a go, then its a personal failure too...! My attitude is written down there, at the bottom of this post, part of my signature, written because its sommat I believe in.....
  2. I'd totally agree with that BH, but its only one piece of the puzzle. I was notified as a resident of the area. the Halt campaign is trying to drum up support. They are simply residents too who want to stop the turbines from both being a blot on the surrounding countryside and the chipping away at greenbelt. It's me that see's things a bit more historically, from a hunting point of view. Even if I still lived in my old home in Anfield I would be just as opposed to this. As, I'd like to think, other hunters should be. "That's sad" is a term that should be used 'after' the event not befo
  3. Coursing round the wind turbines on the Withens, that should be interesting!
  4. How many of you have stood on the public bank, amongst friends and fellow hunters at the Waterloo Cup? How many bought a 'nominators pass' and stood amongst the dogs, owners and trainers? It's still there, Altca

    The Booze

These days its a good glass of red for me, my fav tipple. If its pints its the odd cask ale but I struggle with anything over 3 now, so i'd rather leave it alone. Its quality over quantity every time.
  6. Love the Wilson sisters version of this classic Kay. I first heard it on the 'Singles' soundtrack, about 20 years ago, where they performed as the Lovemongers.
  7. For the money they are, either is well worth a punt IMO, especially that Cocker cross..!
  8. Aye, those dogs of yours Phil, as Tomo says, do look just about indestructible... As Paulus said, as are most first crosses, here's another...
  9. I've got insurance, my Mrs talked me into it after a recent spate of accidents and deaths (I lost two promising youngsters and my old dog lost an eye and then had spinal trauma) which all sounds bad but after 30+ years with working dogs i've only had the odd stitch needed before and I done most treatments myself... Then my old vet retired, he was like the type Weasle mentioned, rural, mostly big animal treatments, no messin an dirt cheap. So I was left to find a good local... Impossible, so to give my Mrs piece of mind, insurance it was... Edited to add, is it just me, because a bill of 4
  10. sadness will pass, but you should be proud of yourself and your dog look at the life you had together and he was obviously more than capable, a sense of great pride will soon replace your heartbreak of what that dog done for you. he will be top in your own personal hall of fame. keep your head high and celebrate his life not his death, and put the work in front of his pup and give him the chances you gave his dad. Spot on...
