  1. The only problem with advocate is that it's prescription only...
  2. Anyone used KM Engineering for kennels?
  3. I agree 100%. Having had some poor quality ferrets over the years I value a good one highly. £100 would not buy my best jill.
  4. Hi, I've had an interest in birds of prey for many years though as yet I've not looked into falconry until recently. The question I have is how much 'work' is required to keep a bird of prey? I have plenty of space to construct suitable living quarters and a six acre field at the back of the house. I also have plenty of permission. I also keep ferrets, lurchers, spaniels and do a bit of fishing.... do you guys have involvement in other sports or does the falconry take all your spare time? Thanks in advance.
  5. Hi John, I messaged you a while back but didn't get a reply. If you can pm me where you are and what you have left I would be very grateful.
  6. Saw this litter Thursday evening and they are absolute crackers!
  7. Some great replies and plenty of food for thought. Thanks guys.
  8. Sadly I've recently been burgled and so I'm looking at ways to increase the security of my house. I've been considering a guard dog, something to let me know if anyone's about and be big enough to make someone think twice about walking down the drive! So... I was wondering if anyone has experience of using/training lurchers as guard dogs? I'm there thinking a big lurcher could be dual purpose whilst the 22inch dogs I've got now aren't going to scare anyone!
  9. A really interesting thread. In my experience, the ferrets that work rats well are also the best on rabbits. I'm going to breed from my best jill this year, provided I can find a decent hob to line her with. This jill is mad for rats and I've bolted a lot with her over the past two seasons.
  10. Does anyone have a top class working hob within a sensible distance of Monmouth, South Wales? I'm looking to breed a litter for the first time in twenty years and my friend's hob I intended to use dropped dead yesterday. This particular jill is the best I've ever owned on both rabbits and rats, hence looking for a quality hob.
  11. If Stormy Nights is in good condition I will have it.
  12. Lovely looking pups. Have you bred these as general mooching dogs? They sound just the ticket for bushing with bigger lurchers.
  13. Some interesting replies on this thread guys. I will say though the idea is simply to create a dog that hunts hard and has a variety of uses. If it isn't overly quick I don't care. However, I think they would be plenty quick enough and good enough for rats, rabbits, ferreting, rough shooting etc.
  14. Dougie was by Dave Sleights Boy Blue out of a bitch that was half pointer, so there's only an eighth pointer in my bitch. Surprised your pup out of Nell didn't work out, the information I've had on the rest of the litter has been positive.
  15. I'm considering lining my lurcher bitch with a top quality gwp. My bitch is out of Chippers Nell to a pointer x lurcher named Dougie. She's 22 inches and looks like a well built merle whippet, four years old and a good bitch on rabbits and rats. I've not decided 100% on doing the mating as yet... I want to gauge any interest in the pups first. I have homes for three already. Before the internet police start spoiling the post I know that this mating isn't going to produce lightning quick all rounders. However, I hope it would produce hard working bushing dogs that will work rats and r
  16. Hi, I've just read an article in this weeks' Shooting Times about Woodcock Shooting and Simon Fayers is mentioned using his GWP x lurchers. Does anyone on the forum know Simon personally or have firstand knowledge of his dogs? His breeding is in my current lurchers, though from three/four generations back. Kind Regards
  17. Thanks for the info, much appreciated. I'll presume it will be the same with the new coursing book?
  18. Does anyone know if the two new Darcy books are limited editions? If they're going to be in short supply I'll purchase them now... if not I'll get the Mrs to buy me them for Christmas! I think 'Of Dogs and Deer' was limited to a 1000 copies and sold out quickly. Thanks in advance.
  19. Any confirmation from those in the know whether these books are limited edition? Don't wish to miss out... but would prefer to get them later.

  21. Thanks very much. What type of resin do I need to use to 'stick' in the new collar?
