  1. I was wondering if anyone routinely ran their bushing terriers with locator collars? I've got a seven month old plummet pup for bushing and ratting, but she's starting to take a little too much interest in holes!
  2. Old Moss passed away this Summer. The best dog I've known.
  3. Both the original version in the presentation box and the print re run of 'Of dogs and deer' are sold out.
  4. Cheers fdr. I thought the 'of dogs and deer' books were sold out? I have the original cased version as a spare. I think it was more than £38 when I bought it. Could be wrong though!
  5. Hello, I've got some spare copies of the following books: Now that's what I call terrier work 3 Now that's what I call terrier work 4 Now that's what I call terrier work 5 Extreme lurcherwork Of dogs and deer A passion for coursing 1 I think both of the 'passion for coursing' books are still for sale online. The others are sold out I believe. Are there any book collectors on here that might have an idea of the value of these books before I advertise them on here/ebay? Extreme lurcherwork has been read and I would term as in reasonable condition, the others are brand new. C
  6. That's him. I think he's sold the father of the pups, though I could be wrong. Other than that litter, I've personally not heard of any other purpose bred spaniel crosses.
  7. There was a fella up Durham way that bred a litter of three quarter whippet quarter spaniel pups back in the summer. They were posted on here. That's the only purpose bred litter I've seen. I spoke to the guy and he owned both parents... The first cross dog was apparently a very decent animal, though small at 18inches or so and lacking in top end speed, hence he was put over a coursing whippet type. I was tempted on one of these pups and wish that I had bought one.
  8. Wuyang and Arcticgun, they are both cracking looking dogs. I had spaniels some time before lurchers and I'll always have a couple in the kennel for beating and shooting. I've said before on this forum that I'm surprised that more people don't use spaniels in a lurcher mix. They hunt, have soft mouths, are natural retrievers and have plenty of stamina. I wonder if anyone has purposely put a decent springer dog over a greyhound, whippet or grew bitch? A few mates of mine trial spaniels successfully and some of the modern trialling lines are very racy. They might be ideal to sire a lurcher. A
  9. Can I ask what you've found? Might be in the market myself. Pm if you prefer.
  10. I like a dog to hunt but I also need it to catch. The rabbits I run in South Wales are in small fields bordered by hedges or stock fencing. Though I like the sound of a reverse cross I would worry about the lack of speed. Would love to see one run...
  11. This bitch is quite distinctive... keep your eyes open lads.
  12. I agree with Bristol Tim. I went there a couple of years back and decided never again... no terrier and lurcher show, nightmare traffic, little in the way of country sports.
  13. I love the look of this dog, can I ask how he's bred?
  14. Has anyone experienced anything similar with young pups?
  15. Thanks for the mind comments guys. It's just bad luck I suppose, but it's worse that it's happened to a pup so young. We all make plans when we get a new pup in and have high hopes, but this time it wasn't to be.
  16. Done that as soon as I got home. The breeder has had great feedback on the rest of the litter.
  17. Can't quite believe it myself to be honest. Never had to bury a pup before today...
  18. I've just had to bury my five month old lurcher pup... Gutted isn't the word. Hazel had a fit at 4.30pm this afternoon and never recovered. When I got to the vets fifteen minutes after the fit she seemed a little brighter, but she quickly became unconscious and only regained consciousness once in over and hour and a half. The fit wasn't a typical epileptic fit and the full blood test she had done didn't show any problems. The likely diagnosis was an underlying neurological issue. This seemed likely from the start as she had been a strange pup, far slower to learn than you would
  19. What sort of range are you killing the rabbits at?
  20. It is a tenner. No mention of terriers and lurcher on the show website though...
