Hi,
Just wondering if there were any keepers/farmers etc with land suitable for training spaniels. What I would like is land where I can get multiple flushes in reeds/white grass/bracken etc and shoot a few rabbits as well. I would not be looking to shoot large numbers, just get plenty of flushes and shoot a half a dozen to a dozen or so.
I know this is a very unlikely request...but if you don't ask, you never know!
I would of course be willing to pay for the opportunity.
Please feel free to pm me.
Hi,
Has anyone got a copy of 'Stormy Nights and Frosty Mornings' by Paul Dooley or 'Worse Country Mischief' and 'Earth Dogs and Running Dogs' for sale by Colin Didriksen.
I would also consider swops...let me know what you're after! I've a spare copy of 'Running Dog Addiction' by J Darcy if that is of use?
Hi,
A friend of mine has a litter of kits and a fortnight ago their rear ends prolapsed. The kits seem absolutely fine in themselves, eating as much meat as you can give them. Their prolapses aren't massive but still concerning. Have any of you good folk seen this before? Suggestions as to how we can fix it?
Thanks
An interesting thread fellas... I for one definitely think the gene pool is now littered with non workers and ther have been too many instances of people breeding for colour/size/etc.
I've a few friends who are very experienced ferreters and they've noticed the same issue.
There have been a few topics recently on small ferrets/big ferrets/black ferrets/fecking dancing ferrets and goodness knows what else! But... has anyone else struggled lately to find GOOD HONEST WORKERS? I've had a few conversations recently about the number of poor quality workers about - I even own a couple unfortunately! The last top class animal I had from Tomo and she sadly died last year at the age of 7. Finding a top quality working bred kit seems to be getting harder... When I started with ferrets 24 years ago nearly every ferret I had did the job. Maybe they were better because
I bought an Octagon 20 for school. Hatched 13 chicks the other day, 72% success rate. Nice bit of kit and idiot proof! I've got 24 eggs in at the moment and I'm even thinking of buying another.
Hi,
Was just wondering if anyone knew for a vasectomised hob in the South Wales area? I'm near Monmouth, but travel to Hereford daily and Cwmbran a few times a week. Would be happy to pay a stud fee!
Also, I've got a sandy jill who is two years old that I maybe looking to find a home for. She is NOT a good working ferret, hence the need to go, though would make a suitable pet.
Kind Regards
Gavin
I have one of the pups out of Nell and I'm very pleased with her so far. Skye hasn't seen as much game as I would have liked, but that's down to me not getting her out as much this winter as I should have due to a fair dose of bad luck that I will not bore you with.
My little merle bitch is about 21 inches(ish) and is a little flying machine. She's 'overshot' a lot of rabbits due to her flying at them and not combining her speed with a little more cunning. However, I've no doubt that this will come with time. I would far rather this than a dog that isn't a 'tryer'. I'm very much a n
I do quite a bit of woodcock hunting with springers and they've yet to catch one (not that I would want them to but they see a lot of them) - hats off to that lurcher of yours fella, very impressive.
I've seen this dog out with the pack as a youngster and what impressed me was the obedience and desire to please of all Warren's dogs. Good luck with the sale mate.
My best (only) good working Jill passed away yesterday at a mere 5 years old. She lost a bit of weight towards the end of last week but still seemed ok, with no noticeable problems. Yesterday morning she went down hill fast and was dead by the afternoon.
I value any good ferret highly so I'm bitterly disappointed. What's worse is that I don't know what the problem was...
I just hope one of the other ferrets I have will 'step up' this season and become good workers.
All pups sold to first class homes. As they on the A team... 'I love it when a plan comes together...'
Thanks for all your enquiries and kind comments.
Those pups look great...
I've got a lurcher bred by Warren and I can vouch for the quality of his dogs. I've also seen the mother to the pups work and she's a cracking bitch. Very tempted myself!
Cwmcyffylog Spaniels have a litter of superbly bred Springer pups for trial or shooting homes. Sire FTCH Saturn's Spirit, can be seen on www.willclulee.co.uk; Dam is an outstanding shooting bitch by Championship Winner Steadroc Sker out of a novice winning bitch. Pups are well marked with solid liver heads, are confident and outgoing. Three dog pups left from a litter of seven. Pups have been wormed regularly, docked legally and fed on the best. No expense spared in the rearing of these pups... Pictures to follow. Price £400.
