  1. I've worked cockers and springers... If I was using a spaniel to breed a lurcher I would use a modern 'trialling' style springer. These dogs are athletic, fast and quite often not as heavily built as many shooting type springers. Aye and they burn out after an hour. You're right, many do. However, I have seen some that go and go. A good friend of mine has a field trial winning dog that he also uses for beating and picking up three days a week. Athletic and quick with plenty of stamina.
  2. He's a handsome dog. Is that the one now with the gamekeeper?

  4. Put him over a nice whippet/greyhound bitch!
  5. I keep spaniels and lurchers. My springer bitch is in season at the minute and I've been tempted to line her with my lurcher dog. I've seen some good hunting lurchers but nothing to compare with a decent spaniel. There have been threads on spaniel lurchers on the THL before and I'm always surprised that they aren't more common. That bitch looks superb.
  6. That Merle pup is a cracker Socks. Does it belong to another member on here or is it one still for sale from the litter?
  7. Has anyone been to this show in recent years? Worth a look?
  8. I know this is a two day event with a terrier and lurcher show on the Monday. Has anyone been in previous years?
  9. ok i could be wrong wouldnt be a first time lol.... foxes are wild animals they are not like the domestic dog...they dont come into heat every 6 months the way some bitches do..or you have the once a year bitch...they can come into heat anytime or any month,,,,like december or august! but the fox is tottally different they have been hardwired from day dot to come into cycle late november early december so there cubs are being born height of spring so food will be a lot more plentiful than it would be in the depths of winter, she could barely feed herself this time a year in some places never m
  10. Just bought a baikal silenced 410. An awesome bit of kit! If you're thinking of buying one, do it.
  11. Nice part of the world, that's where I am at present.
  12. Nice looking dog. Shame there aren't any pups left...!
  13. I had no idea that Fishers were such brave predators. Minkenry, good luck with the book, I think I'll drop you an email and buy a copy.
  14. It's rare to find well bred half crosses. There was a litter in West Wales advertised in the EDRD in the summer, but they had sold before I rang the breeder.
  15. Wales1234 did you see the litter in the Countryman's this week?
  16. Those pups sound great. As Collie John said, that litter out of the 3/4 greyhound 1/4 collie bitch to Dan would work out pretty much half crosses. Any pups left? There's a litter not far from me in this weeks Counteymans, first cross collie greyhound back to a collie. Sound a nice litter, but I'm always thinking that a dog like that might not have enough speed. Does a 3/4 collie 1/4 greyhound offer more than a well bred first cross?
  17. Looking for a decent 410 within a short drive of Monmouth, South Wales. Would prefer a hushpower.
  18. I was wondering if anyone routinely ran their bushing terriers with locator collars? I've got a seven month old plummet pup for bushing and ratting, but she's starting to take a little too much interest in holes!
  19. Old Moss passed away this Summer. The best dog I've known.
