  1. There is whippet in her but she has never run doubled up. She's a cracking bitch when lamped solo... just doesn't perform well in company.
  2. Hi, I've got a lurcher bitch here who is proving to be a bit of an enigma.... When I lamp her solo, just me and the bitch, she always does me proud. Good strike, excellent retrieve, always silent and straight back to hand when the lamp is switched off. When I go out with friends and their dogs she is prone to the occasional yap and isn't as sharp when catching or coming back after a run. The difference in her can be on consecutive nights! On Sunday eve she had three from four and looked class, on Monday out with friends not anywhere near as good. I'm presuming it's a jealousy issu
  3. I've got a bitch here by a pointer based lurcher called Dougie and I'm happy with her.
  4. There are plenty of the leggy, lean type labs about still... on the shoot I'm involved with a few of the guys trial labs and their dogs are so lean and quick you could mistake them for black greyhounds!
  5. Thanks for the replys so far guys, but it has to be a russell off good rabbiting parents.
  6. Hi, If anyone has any well bred pups on the ground or litters planned please let me know. A good friend of mine lost his Jack Russel bitch on boxing day in a freak accident and is looking for a replacement. The dog is wanted for rabbiting in the main and he would prefer a Jack Russell or Jack Russell cross. The closer the pup is to South Wales the better.
  7. Hi, I've read several bits of advice about not running a lurcher when in season and was wondering what the general thought was on how long they should be rested up when in season? Or... do many people just push on through and keep working the bitch. Regards.
  8. I've got a kelpie x greyhound with very good feet and skin like a rhino.
  9. Hi, I'm interested in hearing about any litters planned over the next year. I've no particular preference as to a 'cross' but both parents must hunt hard and be decent ferreting/lamping dogs, ideally around the 24 - 26 inch mark and with the gears to put a variety of game in the bag. If anyone knows of upcoming pups that fit the bill or even pups on the ground now, please let me know.
  10. Hello, I'm off to the Midland tomorrow with the aim of buying a lithium battery and possibly a new lamp. I currently use a lazerlite and 14ah battery pack. What would you fellas recommend and do you know of any stores that will have good deals on?
  11. ...does anyone know much about it? I think it's this weekend.
  12. I remember you fellas coming down, was many years ago now! Molly's lack of 'strike' is the only thing that holds her back, but sadly is essential in a lurcher... Her hunting is first rate as I said. Just yesterday morning she hunted a fox a couple of hundred yards along a ditch by my house. I could not call the bugger off that line! The other lurcher I have didn't have a clue what was going on, her hunting isn't anywhere near as good as Molly's...yet! Molly pushed the fox to ground and had a strong mark. If I thought I could home the pups I would consider a litter from her, but ther
  13. Hasn't anyone got any of the above books for sale or swop? I would much rather 'do a deal' than sell the book as I'm more into reading than selling!
  14. Did you get the message I sent you about the other books you had for sale? Regards.
  15. I'll measure her this morning to ensure I'm spot on, but I would say she is 24 inches or there abouts.
  16. Thanks for the kind comments folks, and yes you have seen these pics on a similar thread a long time ago.
  17. I think I may well have the litter sister to the dog that Postie had... My bitch has just turned seven and is a first cross kelpie/greyhound. Molly was my first ever lurcher and had a lot of time invested in her. She is an obedient bitch, has a thick coat and excellent feet, skin like a rhino and is an easy animal to have about the place - very laid back and chilled out. Her prime asset is her hunting ability, she has always been a first class hunter, in spite of the lack of game in South Wales. The bitch will follow a line laid by charlies all day long. Molly used to accompany me
