  1. A good night . I have shot off a similar frame on the back of a vehicle and was all over the place . You did better than me . I was rocking about too much . If I can’t get on a bipod and locked in nice and firm my shooting goes to rat shit . ??
  2. I used to subscribe to Sporting Rifle , but that finished, but because I had paid they are sending me Shooting times until the money from my subscription runs out . Apparently Shooting times now has more rifle shooting content . Anyway I took out a subscription at the Game fair for Rifle shooter , I was given the August edition and was waiting for the September edition to arrive, imagine my disappointment when Clay shooter landed in the doormat ?!!! Phone calls were made , and I’m still waiting for the mag . I still like a magazine to flick through . I like to read about new products and revi
  3. Anyone hear about the hack of the Guntrader website? Apparently some anti hunting group hacked Guntrader and has leaked details of the users onto the internet.
  4. No I’ve not got the chicken distress call . I will try and download it . The people at best fox call , will tell you how easy it is to download the calls to an SD card , but I haven’t been able to do it . I T isn’t my strong point . I got a friend to download the last lot , but he works in IT and he had a few attempts.
  5. It’s the only language they understand, in the words of Corporal Jones in dads army “ they don’t like it up em “.??
  6. A pale tussock moth caterpillar, kept me company in my ATV . I’m not a moth expert, I googled it , it says they are common.
  7. I’ve always believed that hunting with hounds was the thin end of the wedge . The pack that I follow has managed to carry on . And the field is much the same as it always was . We have our usual antis that try their best to hamper the day , sometimes they win , most of the time they don’t. But it is tiresome, to be constantly harassed by the muppets. And more than the field , I’ve noticed a higher turnover of hunt staff , who get fed up with the constant agro . I had a chat to one of the women sabs , I said if you care about hunting with dogs , why aren’t you out on a Sunday morning in the C
  8. Had a chat with a woman who lives in one of the houses on the estate. She keeps free ranging chickens and ducks , so she is always keen to discuss fox sightings with me . The information I get from her is always reliable, if she says there is a fox about …… there is a fox about. She said that she had seen a fox about in broad daylight yesterday, eyeing up her chickens. I assured her I would be out tonight and have a look . I set the icotec out in the middle of the field behind her house and sat on her garden chair with the rifle and bipod on the garden table . She brought me out
  9. haven’t you got some sheep to bother? I think the moaning comes with age .?
  10. That’s another moan . We have combination locks on all the gates now , because they just kept getting left open . Not only that , since lockdown the estate has had to put up new gates to keep the public from driving in and parking up and wandering wherever they feel like going. It now adds extra time onto my journey every day . I bet that if I added up all the time I spend getting in and out of vehicles to open and shut gates , that aren’t necessary to keep stock in , but only there to keep nuisance dog walkers and sightseers out , it would be shocking.
  11. Tell me about it ? The dog shit thing drives me insane . But the latest annoying thing is baby wipes , or wet wipes. There is someone around here who can’t go for a walk without having a dump , and then wipes there arse with these wet wipes , and leaves them there . Traditional toilet paper would break down , but these things don’t , and I’ve got to drive past shit stained wet wipes all day . It’s f@cking disgusting ?. FairPlay, I can understand, I’ve had to have a “ wild one “ now and again, it’s part and parcel of working in the countryside, but use bog roll and either hide it under leav
  12. There are a few YouTube videos where Americans try British food like Marmite and Cadbury chocolate, and on the flip side English trying American food . I think we have it fairly good here , as most of the American reactions to our products are favourable. The “You-tubers” who keep it real are watchable, the wannabe comedians like this guy just have me reaching for the off switch . This guy isn’t funny whatever side of the pond you live ,
  13. Sorry about that Stavross, I’ll pick my cans up next time . I consider myself reprimanded ??
  14. Typical animal “lovers “ response ……move the set . Where to ? I know , to the countryside, make it someone else’s problem. Instead of making a proper , adult decision, and destroy the sett and it’s occupants, these snowflakes want to “ move” it . Nobody wants to deal with things these days . Wait till Brian May and Chris Packem get involved. I can see this costing tens of thousands to the local council . Give me a JCB and a 12 bore , tell the police to f@ck off for the day , and I’d have it done for £500 . But where is common sense these days ? Just edited to say , it’s priced at £50
  15. I went for a meal and a drink to the Brewhouse Kitchen at Gloucester docks a couple of weeks ago . We were sat outside by the water , it was a warm evening and it was nice to be out . Just then all hell broke loose . The girl on the table next to us was on her iPhone and not looking and a seagull swooped down , bold as brass and necked her piece of battered cod . The waitress came out and apologised, “sorry that was Bruce “ . Apparently he is a local celebrity. If it had been my piece of fish I would probably be on social media, ringing its neck .??
  16. Only just found this post . Thanks for sharing. I loved the photos , beautiful landscape , and an interesting hunt . Keep them coming, it’s always good to see how things are done in other countries . The grouse numbers here are poor . A number of factors to blame . But there probably won’t be the surplus numbers for shooting for a couple of years .
  17. Until recently my only experience of Gsp and GWP’s were out of control, wild , untrained specimens that turned up on shoot days in the beating line or owned by guns . They were poor advocates for their breed . Since then I’ve witnessed them in their proper environment, hunting, setting, flushing and retrieving on woodcock and pheasant . And they were a joy to watch and have changed my opinion of the breed. For that kind of shooting, they have no equal. I also believe that they make excellent deer dogs here in the uk . But then most steady dogs with a nose will find a shot deer . A fr
  18. I keep mine on a high shelf in my workshop , in its plastic bottles. As long as it’s in a cool dry place , away from a heat source, or naked flame it’s ok . I think the wooden box thing is just for black powder . It doesn’t surprise me that there is confusion. The FEO’s aren’t always experts in shooting . The thing is with nitro powder , it will just burn , if you put it in a safe or a tin box it will create pressure and explode if there is a fire , better to just be in the open, but out of reach of kids .
  19. Just put that one down as a reconnaissance mission. At least you didn’t miss one and educate it . Just keep going , they will slip up .
  20. I’m with you on the slip on footwear, dignity and pride have stopped me from going down the slippery slope of “crocdom”. But my days of doing up laces are all but over . I wear Adidas sliders around the house , unzipped le chameau’s or Nike trainers with the laces tied in a knot and loose ( down with the kids ) at work. I’ve still got a pair of meindle boots , but bending down for the laces takes time and planning. ?
