Here’s a conspiracy theory for you . China not Russia is behind the rigged US election. Biden is a puppet ( he’s old in cognitive decline/ not responsible for his actions) , but China realises that time is running out for Biden and has pushed for him to order the withdrawal, sooner than they would have liked . It was time for Biden to pay his debt !

And I’ve only just finished fashioning my helmet out of tin foil !!!! What happened to the air support promised by Biden ? The way they pulled out just created a power vacuum , that has now been filled with ( largely peaceful and friendly, Taliban ) . Watching the news the other night. Taliban entering Kabul . As a Hilux owner I was disappointed to see the Taliban has chosen a new form of transport, the Ford Ranger !!! I was disgusted, I thought they will soon regret getting one of those . You can’t beat a Hilux .

The combines were busy today and cut maybe 100 or so acres of wheat , to go with the 50 or so acres cut on Sunday. I thought I’d wait until it was all cut before I had a look . I had an idea that there were one or two about . I think I’m fairly well on top of the fox population on the shoot , but only a fool would say they haven’t got any foxes . I went and checked the pens and then as day turned to night I sat overlooking one of the pens , having the occasional scan with the thermal but nothing showed up . Fair enough. Without sounding flippant, ultimately it doesn’t matter that much . I would just go with what the manufacturer states it is . Everything about this guy was alarming, his family were asking for help , because of his mental state . On a trip to see my mate in Northumberland earlier in the year we had a night out with his rifle with his new thermal scope. Although we didn’t shoot anything I got to handle his Tikka , it had a rubber bolt “knob” on it . He said they were brilliant and he had them on all his rifles now . I’m not one for needless accessories but it really made cycling the bolt a lot more positive, not that I can ever remember a time when I wasn’t able to cycle the bolt , but to my mind this slip on knob does work better . I’ve just seen a report that said he had his license taken off him for alleged assault, then he had it returned to him in December. The FEO responsible for making that decision will have some explaining to do .

I think that we have very robust laws surrounding shotgun and firearms in the uk . And like Foxhunter said , you can’t legislate for the odd nut case. I am surprised however that a red flag wasn’t put up about this guy before he did the terrible things he did . Surely he was acting differently or he’d said something or made threats that would make someone raise concerns over his suitability to possess a shotgun. A mate of mine , who recently lost his wife to cancer had a day on the grouse booked in Scotland on the twelfth. It was to be a once in a lifetime, bucket list sort of thing . However he was contacted recently to say that there was not enough grouse to shoot. They offered him a simulated day , some red stalking and some fly fishing and pigeon shooting instead. I agree , once the birds are out of the pen , it’s not a problem. I had the same with an escaped Harris hawk a couple years ago . It’s telemetry had fallen off . I saw it next to one of the Maize patches in a tree. I got the boss to go on Facebook to see if anyone was looking for one and sure enough he located the owner . I met him and showed him where I’d last seen it and left him to it . He assured me it wouldn’t have done much harm to the pheasants . By coincidence, my wife was walking to the daughters house and saw a van next to a gateway with a van full of hawks . N

I was getting a bit of hassle from BOP just after I put the poults to wood . There isn’t a lot you can do about them legally. Diversionary feeding is one option, and that works for some lazy old Buzzards, but some like fresh kills . I was having a sort out in one of the sheds on the shoot and found some old Keepers choice feed bags with some predator eyes printed on the back . I tied some up around a pen that was having problems and low and behold it seemed to do the trick , and put off the BOP that was bothering the poults . A mate rang me up yesterday moaning about

Not good . We were after six pointers. Managed one 4 pointer . They started the evening stalk and promptly got soaked to the skin . I put one in a high seat that overlooks the territory of a nice buck . He watched a small Spiker walk across, stop and look towards where I said the buck would be . The buck burst out of the hedge and chased the Spiker off and back through the hedge , not to be seen again . What a difference a week or so makes . I’ve got a couple of chaps coming down for an evening and morning stalk on the bucks . They are booked in to a hotel, and things were looking good , I had bucks charging around chasing does . Then the weather changed , the temperature has dropped and you wouldn’t think there was a deer on the place . And this morning it had a real autumn feel , so much so I managed to pick some mushrooms. I just hope the Buttalo call works.
